  • good soun mod

  • whats the server address?

  • Which ACE mods did you use?

  • Very nice one ! Depicts the realistic ambiance very well, not like these COD-like games. Arma is Heavenly.

Very immersive though (very) rarely filled with sripted FX !

  • man i wish i could run Arma 2 this well

  • Thanks for responding! Really appreciate it.

Actually, ArmA2 does have an option for Anistropic Filtering. It's right above the FSAA option. What do you have that set to?

I also forgot to ask, do you use TrackIR or how do you look around so effieciently?

How are you feeling about JD's smoke? I love the fire effects and the smoke, but one thing I notice is a static clump of smoke often rises off the fire that looks like a .bmp image and kinda fake looking. Other than that I love it.

  • Wow, you are an amazing pilot! I wish I culd fly like that. Can I ask several questions?

    * Do use a joystick setup? If so, which one?

    * Do you have Anistropic Filtering on? If so, what level?

    * The smoke - is that ACE2 or JD's?

I'm still stunned at the frame rate your getting with ACE2. Are ATI single cards better than NVidia's for ArmA2?

  • Thank you!

-I use Logitech Attack 3 joystick

-Afaik Arma 2 doesn't have AF under options, instead it uses MSAA & 3D Resolution (Filtrate). My MSAA is at very high (I guess 8x) and Filtrate is at 100%

-Smoke is ACE2, I recently started using JD's to see how it compares to ACE2

I never had a chance to test both but I'd say they are about the same when it comes to performance only at greater cost if you go for nVidia. In high end segment I'd say ATI 5870 Vapor-x is the best buy.

    Cheers! :D

  • @syso01

could you post your config for you joystick please, if you are able?

  • @spartan5397

I am using deafult Windows calibration tool. Besides that, in the Arma 2 game options, I've set all sensitivity sliders for a joystick to 50%, by default I think they are around 30% which is not responsive enough for me.

I hope this answers your question, if not, feel free to correct me. :)

  • @syso01

ok, thank you that answers my question :D

  • @syso01 Hey man. i download the ACE files but don't know how to install.

  • Hey, I have a nearly identical setup as yours, but I'm looking to buy a new cpu fan since the stock amd fan is very loud, sounds like a damn hair dryer. Is the Arctic-Cooling Freezer 64 PRO a good fan?

  • @dk910

Yeah, it is great. It's silent and it allowed me to clock my CPU to 3.8 without trouble.

I can really recommend it plus you get great thermal paste with it.

  • hey i played with you some months ago ;)

    remember the name

  • Cool! What's your nick in game?

btw. I don't play on public servers a lot anymore because I joined squad and I play with them most of the time.

  • Nickname is Theodor

and what squad are you playing with?

  • I am in Croatian squad *NOB* Mrcine

  • Is the AI still super accurate and can spot you from 5km away? Using ACE of course.

  • @GoodMomo

Well, yes... and no... ACE changes the way AI reacts but problem lies in engine not ACE, for example, they will spot you harder at times, and they will be far less accurate then they were before but grass layer still provides no cover when it comes to AI... also they see you as sharp clear in the woods as they would be able to spot you in open area...

But these problems WILL BE adressed for sure because BI is aware of it and there are tickets posted for this at dev-heaven...

  • loos like operation flashpoint

  • @sereda008

Well... yeah... Probably because Operation Flashpoint, Arma and Arma 2 are made by same people? lol

    Bohemia Interactive Studios :D

  • Yeah, I switched from 9800GT to this. Also, performance at 5000m is almost same but since no objects will appear at that distance I don't see a purpose to use it... Also anything above 3800m will not let you set terrain detail to Very High...

  • impressive! Thats a good performance for 3500m view distance. Especially in Comparison to my Nvidia 8800 GTS 640 :)
