If you want to see a real parade of nations broadcast and not cut by commercials, watch this video:

I'm not offending the Atlanta 1996 olympics and the uploader, but the broadcaster was really bad, the worst ever, with interviews and commercials interrupting the parade. The Olympics itself was good i think, but the broadcaster was the main problem. That video is the parade of nations from Sydney 2000, no commercial breaks and no nations skipped.
POLSKA Polonia Polónia Polònia Polônia Πολωνία Pologne Polen Pollen Poland Pólland Puola Poola Polsko Poľsko Польша Польшча Польща Полша Poljska Пољска Polija Polonya 'Lechastan بولندا פולין פולניה פּױלן Pole Bōlán Pollandeu a' Phòlainn Gwlad Pwyl ポーランド Ba Lan
I have read some of the comments about some nations missing becuase of commercial breaks during the broadcasts but some teams were not shown at all but we did hear the country's name on the PA like NEW ZEALAND (at 2:17). Didn't see the NZ team in the parade of nations. They came out after the Netherlands but it seems the NBC cameras didn't show them and kept their cameras on the Netherlands - shame on NBC.
@azzabop ide have to agree, dont take this out on julias i think this is an excelent post of the OC and PON the broadcaster of NBC sometimes dont focus oncertain teams which is nonsense, but i think this also has something to do with the fact that there was still a bit of racism in america even in '96 and maybe the cameramen were racist
There was some unorganization on the assembly line of countries during the Parade of the Nations. The nations did get a little out of alphabetical order because of it.

This song is called "Chronologie 4" by Jean Michel Jarre. It played when Norway-Portugal entered the stadium.

Where is the Philippines here? I think you forgot to include the Philippines here in the video.
wandie1024 5 years ago
The Phillipines were left out of the broadcast due to commercial. 197 countries divided by 2 hours = ~40 seconds per country.

i thought you would might be descriminating my beloved country, because I live in the Philippines and I am proud to be one. MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!
