To be fair, Liddy was not the CEO of AIG before it collapsed. He also paid himself a salary of $1 and was the individual who urged employees to return at least half of their bonuses.
Also to others, why would he give their names when this could very well have been their death sentence (lot of maniacs out there)? CEOs don't make it a habit of having their employees killed because they made bad tades.

The face of a liar: Edward Liddy. Throughout his entire testimony (under oath, I believe), Liddy says "I don't know who they are". Then, at around 2:15, he says "I'm not going to give you the names until I know what this is about". In other words, he lied repeatedly.
He lied repeatedly to the same legislators who gave AIG hundreds of billions to survive; he lied to protect the people who destroyed AIG.

I'm a fan of Ron Paul and Alan Grayson's grilling of influential people, but we need to show some empathy for Liddy. He's has a good resume in the industry, he was brought in after the crash. AIG had a spate of death threats thrown their way, and Liddy had an obligation to protect the physical safety of the (likely incompetent) people at AIF Financial Products.

I think that would probably be the first thing you should have known. I do agree with you on the physical safety thing. Very educated indeed! He worked his way through Harvard University, graduating in 3 years, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He worked as an economist for two years, but then returned to Harvard for graduate studies. Within 4 years, earned a law degree with honors from Harvard Law School, a masters in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and then Ph.D. in govt. There should be more Congressmen of not only his caliber and guts but also uncorrupted public motivations.

This is why people need to be given big incentives to fight corruption. This AIG guy has no reason/benefit to put himself on the line and ostracise himself from his corrupt peers. There is more incentive for this guy to protect his peers than convict them and this is what has to change. We need an infusion of a "counter-capitalism" system that offsets the greed and corruption that is inherent in capitalism where people benefit big by turning on those (w/ evidence) that work outside the rules.

no thats not true. most people with families to provide for and jobs and kids to raise are not able to keep up with all these things with the way the media is controlled and the horrible economic conditions. this hearing would not happy if people were not upset, even if they don't understand the full complexities. negativity toward are fellow citizens will hurt our cause and waste time. instead lets spend that energy on informing and electing honest people.

Totally owned. I can't believe that the government gave these carpetbaggers billions and billions of dollars to just do whatever the hell they wanted to. The banks were supposed to start lending out money and instead they hoarded it all, covered their own negligent losses and then proceeded to squeeze the life out of regular citizens by raising interest rates on credit, charging billions of dollars in fees, etc. As a citizen I want names too and I want to see people going to jail for this.

There is a good point. Alan Grayson is good at what he's doing as this seems genuine enough. These thieves & liars shake in their boots with his questions. But I felt this same way of sincerity towards exposing & wanting to make a change for the good of society with Obama. Especially Obama's line of "the mom is in competition with her kids for a job at McDonalds" while he was coming up in 2006, I believe.
