Ari Aster...Ari Filmaster! I hope to see more things from you. I wish I could say this was not TOTALLY believable. It so is. This film pulled no punches. This is the film the movie Precious tried to be. I honestly am left open and raw. Mother- complicit for ignoring all those years. Son- un-diagnosed and so untreated psycho/socio-path. Father- I am not sympathetic toward him as a victim. I am angry and hurt by all three of the Johnsons. Part II- daughter in law finds and publishes Cocoon Man.
The movie is great. The subject matter is obviously very strange and out there for some people but I'm sure that's what was intended. Clearly the Youtube masses are too close minded to see past the disturbing premise and really see that this is a brilliantly shocking, and well produced short film, because this trailer deserves way more likes.

It's sad to see people are missing the main point of the film. Ari Aster explained that race had nothing to do with it, the man that played the son was his best friend and he helped Ari create this whole idea. As for the comedy, Ari viewed it as a dark satire, which if you watch the movie, is understandable and slightly funny. Of course, the movie takes on this taboo of role reversal and molestation so it's uncomfortable to watch since not many films deal with this subject which makes the whole

Race has nothing to do with this, I've seen a play, called The Homecoming, that had an all white cast and it was as disturbing as this and had the same topic of taboo and incest. The production of this movie is top-notch. Each camera shot and the lighting of each scene really intensifies the topic and the actions of the family.

This was the most mind blowing, thought provoking film i might have ever seen. The director says race is not an issue at ALL, the characters just happen to be black. If you really read into the lines and nuances in the film you will see that the dad actually began some sort of "situation" between them early on. Possibly inappropriate touching or something and then the son "fell in love" so to speak and then was insistent about continuing even after the father attempted to stop the acts. CRAZY !

This film was creepy, weird, and awkward as hell but I think the concept was interesting just because it was a switch in story role where the son was molesting the father and not the other way around.
