Who ever did this video is childish and takes us for idiots. Robert Fisk talks here in a sense of majority of incidence and proportions whereas the owner of this video tries to prove foolishly the opposite by showing just one incident. The only reason this video even got much views is because Robert Fisk is in it, but the interviewer and insertions are truly foolish.
This vid was crap. How many people can say that they have converted their PhD into a best seller? In journalism circles, Fisk's profound insight into post WWI Middle Easten affairs is probably second to none. Rather than attempting to "keep the peace" through producing needlessly "balanced" reports, many journalist's would benefit from simply reading a few books. This would enable them to comment on complicated issues in a more culturally and historically accurate manner (as Fisk is able to do).
If this video was meant to be an argument, it was a bad one. The single example of 3:50 was to show that *at least one* American journalist left the hotel --certainly contrary to the literal statement Fisk made, but not contrary to what he meant. "Hotel journalism" is an idiom for relying on secondary or tertiary sources of information. As opposed to speaking to *real people* who have been affected by events.
i would not give Fisk such credence if he were not so thoroughly embedded. he spent 30 plus years in Lebenon throughout it's carnage and dared to cover the conflict from the frontlines. he was one of the first to witness the aftermath of the Sabra/Chatila massacres and has been literally fucked up during the '75-76 civil war and risked his life agian during the '82 invasion. that was him. he was there.
The central message of this film is valuable: the falseness of 50/50 journalism. The problem is that the message gets confused along the way. Why introduce the film with a statement about Fisk's hostility? It confuses the viewers by leading in with something that is irrelevant to the point of the film. If anything, you should post one film about how Fisk was rude, and another about 50/50 journalism.
whats that? none of the western media reporting is related to fisk, nor does he support it, infact he constantly mocks it!! this video shows nothing

Thanks for posting.
Chomsky talks about 50/50 journalism as the "illusion of debate" in the western media. It is just that, an illusion.
Fisk is a man of integrity and a great journalist.

Hmm, I don't know how I feel about his perspective. Interesting though.
