  • to the shed!

  • the dude on the far right seems so bored. really?

  • Amazing! Check out Julian's duo with Armand Hirsch...great gypsy style of "Just Friends"

  • Correct. FYI, many early 30's block inlay L-5s were built with straight fingerboard extensions, without the 'bird's beak' finial seen on earlier and later examples. Lage's guitar is not a reissue: while attractive, they are heavily built and sound quite mediocre.

  • 1934***

  • @vhnfdnogfdnmog From wikipedia: "He also plays a 1932 Gibson L-5."

  • I think that it is a Gibson L5 1937 reissue. If you look at the end of the fretboard, you can see that it is square. I think the real ones have like a wave shape to that part. I think it was listed around 3500$

  • superbe!!!! magnifique!!!!mille bravo!!!!

  • First tune is "The Best Thing for You".

  • His sound is soooo...i dunno if its the guitar but he jus sounds sooo damn good

  • Julian likes "free jazz" - no? Seems he gets lost in some sort of musical ecstasy, just improvising whatever comes to mind, no ties to chord progressions, meters, nothing - just Julian and that L-5, going nuts. Watch his facial expressions: he's in a place most of us will probably never see or even imagine.

  • John Maclauglin in the area____Julian is amazing___I'm discovering today__

    I don't know him___great video__

    Dá-lhe garoto arrasou_

  • Mahavishnu.. what do you think?

  • @0362868 I think he'd be right at home with Howard Alden. I'd love to hear an acoustic duo between the both of them. That would be something.

  • he makes me want to cry. pure genius

  • @maxmychopstix its proly a 30 or 40's but it is definitely a "snakehead" Gibson L5. A very good looking one in good shape at that. They are expensive and not alot of them around...

  • @BassicallyChristian I'm thinking it's older than 40s. Maybe a 1930. I'd like to know where on earth he found it and how much he had to pay for it. A 1925 model (excellent+ condition) at elderly.com is $29,000. : o

  • @inky960 I bumped into him at boson and he was warming up on it, he said it was a 30something..and he didnt mention price, he just smiled and chatting with me before he jumped on stage

  • @maxmychopstix Gibson L5 acoustic

  • Wow!

  • What a badass.

  • Oh, yeah. This young man is way beyond. I'd say reincarnated, but he's too much his own person.

  • julian is too good.

  • hope his next album has this stuff

  • @larry3393 this particular song (2nd one) was recorded on the latest Gary Burton album. Called "etude".
