they have a considerably smaller assembly factory than that of Boeing's. Great plane though.. I personally like the 777-300ER and 747-400 the best.. But Airbus has been making some really sweet aircrafts recently.. especially the 4 engined ones such as this a340-600 and a380-800 (maybe even an a380-900 in the near future!)

All of Airbus' fleet uses fully fly-by-wire flight controls, putting a computer between the pilot and the control surface. Some of Boeing's fleet has the same. However Airbus believes the computer should have final say on the flight envelope, Boeing believes the pilot should. Fly-by-wire makes no performance difference whatsoever in reality.

Well actually the Airbus a340-600 is about 75.30meters long, If you did'nt know that a Cargo plane called the Antonov 225 is longest and biggest plane in world it measures 84 meters in length. But the a340-600 is the longest passenger plane in the world at the moment. i read somewhere on wikipedia that Airbus are planning to build the airbus a380-900 which will be about 79 meters long after the a380-800 production reaches 40 aircrafts per year estimated to be in 2010.

in my opinion the 346 can still compare on Longhaul with a 772, (any) 767, or a md11. Dont forget it has over 370 seats, and the fuel consumption isnt that bad after all for 4 burners.

Well. Boeing is from the USA and headquartered in Chicago. Their main factories are located in Seattle and Renton. Another company is Airbus, Hearquartered in Toulouse, France, but with subsidiaries in Germany, United Kingdom and Spain. These are the biggest companies actually. Another smaller are: Bombardier from Canada and Embraer from Brasil. There were another companies as McDonnell Douglas (Now part of Boeing) from USA and Fokker from The Netherlands but they don't exists anymore.

The fact is that whatever an airplane is more or less efficient, if it wouldn't be able to make a good concurence, it wouldn't roll out anyway. It appears the a346 has the longest range, but costs much more than a twin engine aircraft like the b773. Ask companies why they buy airbuses and/or boeing for their fleet, there's always a good reason (for instance a cheaper boeing and a quieter airbus).
