The solution to Peak Oil is to drill more often, drill everywhere. The faster we deplete this resource, the better off we will be.
Lets open up the east coast to more drilling. There are now 510,000 oil wells in the USA producing an average of only 11 barrels a day each. With 1,600,000 wells producing at that rate, the USA will be self sufficient for oil for at least the next 5 years.

I am more than aware of the imminent peak in global oil production and its irreversable decline. However, I don't believe it is a production/refinery issue. Thats what holds it back, one can think of generating it by renewable energy like solar, geothermal etc etc... only as most know those are expensive, and creating hydrogen is allready expensive when you would generate it with cheap (fossile fuel) energy.
So as long as fossile fuels are the main source of energy the price of hydrogen will be linked to those prices and thereby remains more expensive then the fossiles.

The solution to Peak Oil is to drill more often, drill everywhere. The faster we deplete this resource, the better off we will be.
Lets open up the east coast to more drilling. There are now 510,000 oil wells in the USA producing an average of only 11 barrels a day each. With 1,600,000 wells producing at that rate, the USA will be self sufficient for oil for at least the next 5 years.

Big Oil has big money, they'll invest it in alternative fuel, just like Rockefeller switched from coal to oil. If we want to, we can replace oil today but we don't because, why do something else when oil is so profitable. This peak oil production thing is only a hoax to justify future higher gas price. at the moment data are saying that 560 oil fields in the world on total of 800 peaked, Cantrell oil field in mexico has seen fall down its production from 2.5 millions to 750000 in 5/6 years after the its peak and these are facts..and please, before to say that oil resources CAN BE INFINITE, try to study the second principle of thermodynamics, if you can contradict this for sure you can win the nobel prize in phisics!..but for the moment, just wait IOAR CRASH coming in the next months

Do you know what the term "non renewable resource" means? It means that we are consuming and not producing any more of it. There is a finite amount of oil that was created over the course of millions of years and has been nearly depleted over 2-3 hundred years, a blink of an eye in geological history. Whether you believe that oil will run out in your lifetime (which it may not), you need to realize that oil will indeed run out, and according to most estimates, it will run out rather soon.

There are a lot of other resources available to generate power, and other ways to lubricate. In the 1980s an artifical fuel was created that cost about $50 a barrel to manufacture and had very little polution, but then the cost of oil dropped to about $25 a barrel and the project was scratched. Being that the economy is the welfare of the state this is no time for politics.

From 1980, when SFC launched, to 1986, when it was shut down, oil went from more than $39 a barrel to less than $8 a barrel. Suddenly, synthetic oil didn't seem so important anymore.

Judgment Day is inevitable.
Problem is the world population. Soon theres going to be a serious energy shortage and I don't even want to think what madness follows after that.
Fossil fuels are used for a ton of things. It's going to be nasty. We are F****D! SO F****D! Oh well.. survival of the fittest goes back on track..

Nope,
The petroleum "jelly" that the Lander that went to Titan, a Moon of Saturn, landed in was only a few hundred years old, while the petroleum and hydrocarbon "sea" below it got as old as titan itself lowerdown.
Oil, Coal, and Petroleum are different compositions of hydrocarbons and come from deep earth like dimonds,gems,and "lava rocks"..it isn't "Dead Dinosaurs" and some of the spent Oil wells are refilling (not fast enough to re-open them though)

Actions speak louder than words, folks. Big Oil..the Exxons, RDSP, Chevron, etc,., etc.....They have their finger on the pulse of oil supplies far greater than the average internt conspiracy theorist. What has their reaction been to the coming "peak oil" armageddon? Hmmmmm....Well, I know Chevron has taken out expensive mag. ads to tell us that we have used up all the "cheap oil".

What makes you think I WANT to watch the world just sink down the shitter? If I could help it I would. But all of these useless "zomg nature energies" are just pie in the sky nonsense. The only way you could possibly hope to stop Peak Oil is have a massive die-off of people on the planet. If god, or Jesus decide to come back to earth to fufill our little lives with hope and despair then do you really think that any mere mortals action not even the actions of all of us mortals can prevent it. Assuming you don't when the destruction of the earth is going to occur would it not be prodent to be kind enough to leave a better earth for future generations. Acts of man will not start the end of the world. So think of others

CaptHawkeye, the only option to stop peak oil does not come from massive population die off. Countries that have significantly more people than the US consume much less. It comes down to production changes which would lead to consumtion changes. Thing is most people would refuse to change their cloud 9 lifestyles and major corporations would lose money and we all know they won't allow that to happen.

I believe that you have completely misunderstood my post. I was responding to a comment by someone that said that peak oil was a liberal conspiracy theory. I am more than aware of the imminent peak in global oil production and its irreversable decline. However, I don't believe it is a production/refinery issue. This, to me, looks like a short term 'excuse' aimed at reassuring people that there is no shortage.

Yes those are viable energy sources, but it will cost energy to make the transition from an oil based economy to an economy based on renewable energy sources. The question is if we still have time to make that transition. Our political leaders ignoring the problem of peak oil for decades sure has not helped.

How can they belive oil runs out in 2050, when lots of oil deposits has do be found. There is no garantie for finding more oil deposits, but there is a big chance in finding it still,,so i would say not 2050, but 2100.
