  • Grazie per la condivisione del presente file.

  • This Live in Tokio concert is the absolutely best available concert.

Who ever has uploaded this fantastic concert ! Could you please upload the rest of it ??

I think this is a must and a peak concert for all Steps Ahead music fans.

  • where is this video from? I'd like to see the entire show! : )

  • These guys are just awesome…

I wonder how this song would be if colaiuta made a version of this…

  • @TheDuskVoid No need for Vinnie to take the driver's seat on this. S.S. pulls it off just fine.

  • Here's how you spell "Darryl Jones," kids: R.U.D.E.

  • I have this album on CD, great stuff.

  • awh i just love the theme... and every other part of the song ofc !

  • Muy, pero muy bueno !

  • jesus christ this is sick ;) lovely peice of music. Drums n Bass is insanely nice here! thumps for sure!

  • Smith is sick!!!

Michael is at peace but there's no way he's resting. He's eternally jamming!

    :)

The jam during Mike's solo is about 90 seconds of absolute peak performance!! WOW!

  • Inarrivabili!

  • Genial.

    I got this on vinyl

  • Excellent.

  • Ah man. This is so good! No-one else could do it the same.

  • Go Darryl Jones- Chicago's own

  • Damn! Darryl and Steve are tight...

  • uhuhuuuuuuuuu ez igen. az ewi eddigi koronázatlan királya csak brecker baromi durva mitet nem csinál ezen a az ewi -n

  • ahh...I miss brecker. Bless his soul

  • Great music. I've just Embed this video into my Blog ELEMENTO MUSICAL

  • spettacolare... veramente

  • de rég hallottam :) hihetetlen jó zene ez!

  • one of the best fusion songs in time

  • FUCKING BADASS!!!! love this song so damn much...

  • Fusion rocks! And this is fusion at its best!

  • Figata!

  • lol don't they use EWIs in the canteena scene in starwars? this is mindfuckingly amazing

  • Che figata

  • One of my all time favs! And at the same time I miss Michael badly - rest in peace.

  • wow

  • hows that blow intrument caled that gusy playes the squekie sounds

  • It's an electronic wind instrument (EWI).

  • thank you.

  • SON UN GRUPO SENSACIONAL, una de las mejores agrupaciones que he escuchado de michael brecker, lastima que ya no nos acompaña en esta vida.

  • they are so good......not good .... awsome

  • lolinsforth

  • 5:40 to 6:11 is just pure class!

  • I saw steps last friday at the Iridium in NTC, it was their 30 year special edition get together with Mainieri, Stern, Smith, Mccaslin, and a bass player whose name I don't recall. It was a small venue but they were quite good.

  • I totally thought Peter Erskine played the drums for Steps Ahead... Oh well, him and Steve Smith both kick loads of ass

  • Steve played after Pete left which I think was around the late eighties. Either way, I agree, they both kick ass but in my opinion Pete's style was a slightly better fit for Step's sound.

  • Still one of the greatest fusions bands ever. RIP MICHAEL. We miss you

  • Well...they certaintly are..technical and um..

Didn't I see these guys on Miami Vice?! This is technical wankery at best.

  • "Garausamuele" sei italiano?

  • THAT'S what I'm talin' 'bout; THAT's fusion, brah

  • they rule......R.I.P Michael

  • Tout simplement de Grands Musiciens

  • One of the best tunes in Fusion History!!!!

    Michael we miss you!!!!

  • brecker plays EWI

  • I think the title "Beirut" is appropriate. As an ex-marine this tune reminds me of urban combat in some bombed-out, Third-World city like Beirut,Bagdad,Sarejevo,or Mogadishu.

  • urban combat while on drugs.

The sound is so psychedelic, i love it, hehe.

  • michael brecker rest in peace a hell of a musician

  • It has been ages since I first heard Steps Ahead and it immediately caght my attention as one of the most innovative, yet audible(!) bands of the 80s. I have their live CD released in 1986, but I had never seen this clip: is this part of a commercially available DVD?? Picture and sound are just perfect!

  • you can't say enough about the greatness of this collection of artists. If we could all just experience playing on this level for one song.

  • this videos great! RIP michael brecker :( i couldnt stop laughing at darryl jones getting his groove on! lmao!

  • whats that intsrument that brecker plays, its not saxophone for sure :D

  • its called an EWI (pronounced ee-wee) and it stands for electronic wind instrument lol

  • Oh yeah. This instrument first came out in the 1970's and was known as the Lyricon (listen to Steely Dan's "Peg" to hear Tom Scott playing the lyricon). This instrument is alleged to be the inspiration for the "Kloo horns" played by the Cantina Band in Star Wars!

  • its called an EWI.. not to much guys can play it well let me tell u that..

  • Absolutely Fantastic playing... A real joy! Mike Mainieri on Vibes and Mike Brecker on Ewi have to be heard(and seen) to be believed! Awesome!

  • grazie uno dei miei pezzi preferiti degli Steps, grandissimi! che carica di musica

  • oh ouaw ,le regrete michael brecker , fou c'est fou ce groupe .merci

  • Yeah! THis is a group of musician of great level. Thanks to post this awesome music.

  • Oui, Michael Brecker c'était aussi ça. Tu nous manques mec !

  • i love this frikking song! such an amazing Steps Ahead song!

  • This is a fucking great song!

  • oh my god...Daryl is so funky on this one! That drummer is in the pocket!

  • Oh yes Stevev Smith is sooo locked and the song is too live!

  • I love that tune. My percussion prof in college back then transcribed Mainieri's vibe solo in Beirut and I remember learning it note for note. Good times. That same year Brecker did a clinic at a nearby community college, and we were all totally floored by the whole EWI thing. Steve Smith did a clinic later that year and I helped him schlep his Sonors around. They were both super nice guys and totally approachable.

  • RIP michael brecker :-(

  • RIP :(

    I cried.

  • such a great player. pure virtuosity and style. he will definetely be missed. At least hismusic lives on. Very young too... :-(

  • this is awesome...ive been looking for beirut for a while...finally found it

  • amazing

  • This is what I love about YouTube, great rare stuff like this! :)
