Sorry, but when arguing that heavy metal is a "dissonant form of music", the producers simply revealed that they have no clue what they are talking about. Dissonances are a musical device to create tension in order to relieve it right afterwards - often applied by Mozart, Beethoven and other classic composers. Only because the guitars sound rough, doesn't mean that the harmonic structure is dissonant. BTW, metal often uses complex harmonic patterns and scales, borrowed from classic music.
Neither do I personally see a difference between hysterical rock fans and religeous fanatics fainting at a healing session because they have been touched by the Lord, or whoever. *shrug*
Nobody is bullshitting on Pop music and Rap music who are talking about drugs, being 'superstarts' ( idolism anyone ) , how they are above everyone else ( narcism anyone) , how they want to have many bitches on their lap... that's why america has so many idiotic fancy girls and guys who are aggressive and slutty...
danger, violence and sex, is practically all a musician can sell to these animals these days, there has to be some kind of danger to sell. im a musician who writes about sex and drugs, but in no way do i condone rape and murder.
Nonsense! Let me sum this up for you. How many people have died in the name of religion? And how many people have died in the name of music? The End, Nuff Said.
@MrMrSteveC So youre going to bunch them all together and think all religion is the same because some have caused wars and killed people? Thats not clever.
@PandemicZombie I said religion not all religion, of course some have a more violent and troubled history than others, my point still stands, your level of intuitive comprehension isn't very high is it, think before you type.
@MrMrSteveC I understood perfectly well what you said. You parroted the same old phrase that makes people think theyre a genius "religion causes wars and kills people" I was letting you know :). Your point is just way off, its such a generalisation, illogical and as if you think it deserves any response. "music"(all of it) x "religion"(all of it) + numbers of deaths = whats better or worse, haha. Youre a communist atheist amirite?
@plywood34 your an idiot its simply saying by repition in the lyrics it forms the way people think and want to act. do some research or continue to be an ingnorant fuckhead
@Christokerson Fuck you asshole. If you had half a brain you'd be dangerous. You people have been spouting this crap since the beginning of music. All people aren't as stupid as you and understand what they're listening to. Crawl back in your hole.
@plywood34 im obviously not stupid i have an excellent understanding on how the music industry.its safe to say there are plenty of people like you who believe they hold all the knowledge and are ignornat to others beliefs. but im not responding back so eat a dick peace
@Christokerson Hey dipshit--I didn't attack anyone's beliefs. You're the keyboard commando that came in calling names. I said what I believe. You're typical of your ilk to call others names who don't believe the same way you do. So, go fuck off. Don't you have some books to burn?
@holesh0t This is in no way shape or form censorship. It is merely informing you of the very real power that music has over you, and allowing you to choose your own censorship accordingly.

@Steedrider not to mention musical modes first used in churches and monastries which today form the basics of every decent gitarrist.

I have no doubt that rock music is spiritually degrading.

Music reflects the state of the society--it doesn't create the society. This is TOTAL rubbish
