agreed - we fish The Ebro in Spain and the carp are long, lean with huge tails like paintbrushes because they live in the flow. Lake fish tend to be a bit weighty with limp small tails and abnormally fat bellies!!

I had a look on the internet and its says u got a lot of big carps there and big catfish. i saw ppl catching the catfish on the vids and i have to say i wish i fish in tht river ;)

certainly a fat ole lump, but theres no way fo estimating its weight without some for of reference to its size (eg something in shot that we know the length of for definite)

i doubt thats 3 ft of water either, cos the fish had its tail out with its head on bottom but was NOT vertical, for that to happen itd have to be well over 4ft in length.

have u ever caught a 60 lb carp.ive seen a 45lb common carp and it was about 3 ft long and a ft high off the mat and it only just fitted on it.also its a lot harder to judge a carps weight when its in the water.the only true way to find out is to catch it.spod the fk out of ur swim and get the tutti frutti boilies out and sit back and wait for that alarm to scream off.tight lines!!

we are not fish at all costs anglers - the chances of landing this were in the minus - you cant see all the other snags all around it. If we had been able to use a boat maybe.... but the welfare of carp always come first in my eyes.....

Yeah i understand what you mean. Obviously you could see more than i could. The welfare of the carp should come first in any anglers eyes or else they really shouldn't be fishing. I have seen some horrific treatment of fish in my time. On reflection the water the carp is swimming in looks particularly snaggy and we would want to reduce chance of ever leaving a rig in a carps mouth.

its not actually spawnbound its too late in the season. Carp that live in relatively small lakes with no flow develop bellies like that over in Europe, lack of excercise and too much bait!! Whereas river carp are long and lean.

Realy amazing..had a experience like that to. I was feeding a huge carp between some snakes last spring to, but I had no rod with me. There was a high risk of losing the fish to so in such situations it might be better to leave the fish alone and let him/her finish its meal :) Great piece of carp spotting!
