I am about to replace the regular Drinkwell fountain. The motor was always a little loud, but in recent months got so noisy that we can't hear the tv in the next room! How long have you had this model? Also, many reviews mention difficulty replacing the reservoir in the platinum model because it doesn't stand up and when you tilt to replace it, it can spill all over. This step I was most interested in viewing, but you skipped it. How are you connected to the manufacturer?

@blonzo Hi there! We have had this model for over 2 years now. Still works great. Placing the reservoir back into the fountain is no problem at all. There may be a drip or 2 from flipping it over once it's filled with water and putting it back into place, but have never had it spill all over unless the top wasn't twisted properly on. And, we (Puutty Power!) are a online retailer...so the only connection we have with the manufacturer is that we sell this product from their line.

How often do you clean the entire unit? I have 2 cats.

We clean out the Platinum once every month or so - about the same time as we change out the filter. We also clean-out the pre-hair trap twice a month (which is an easy pull out and quick rinse). And we have 3 kitties. :)
