ALERT!!!! about KR MEGA VIBE.... THIS MAYBE A GREAT PEDAL...BUT FOR ANY POTENTIAL BUYERS???? HERE MY EXPERIENCE: I MAILED KRMEGA VIBE THE TOTAL REQUEST TO PRE BUY THIS PEDAL AND OVER ONE YEAR LATER AND many COMPLAINTS I still do not HAVE THE PEDAL OR MY MONEY BACK...SHAME FULL from a music builder...
@toys4man man i dont think he's in busines any more. if you go to his website its all changed. whats written on the site is the same as it used to be but someones has gon threw it and made it all passed tense or something. its very weird.
Kevin Randall (KR Musical) is the biggest most arrogant asshole I've ever dealt with. I can't even believe how much of a dick he is. Runs a shitty business. Avoid like the plaque. Not worth the headache. The Aqua Vibe blows it away.
Own both right now (plus an original Ultra Vibe and a MJM Sixties Vibe) and those are the only one that gave me those classic Hendrix tones. Not that the UV and SV are bad unit (which there are truly not) but they don't sound as right throb wise as the other two (though the UV has the Hey Baby Vibrato thing down to a tee!) Anyway, my best advice will be that, if you're hunting for the best sounding univibe clone, get yourself an Aquavibe or a Megavibe if you i've the patience or the $.
I am very-picky about univibe-clones when it comes to them having that proper univibe sweep, and this is where I have an issue with the Aquavibe - It's got a little too-much 'wah-wah-wah' and not quite-enough 'swirl'. It's just a little off, whereas the Megavibe just nails the sweep of Hendrix's Woodstock univibe-sound with all that swirly goodness (and just the right amount of 'wah-wah-wah'). The VL Microvibe is another one than nails the sweep, but doesn't have quite as much depth as the Mega.
I was on the list for a Megavibe and gypsy fuzz from KR for 15 months, paid for them back in 05/07/10. I have never received the product or one single email back... Lost $ 483.00
I have the Aquavibe and it is probably the best Vibe out there....
@weavzy Same here. I tried going through KR first. After 5 months I demanded my $ back. Luckily he did refund with but with a diatribe berating from KR. Stating my loss and someone else on the list would enjoy MY pedal. I said fine and the very next week I found a mint one on eBay for about $75 cheaper. I took a pic with my unit and proof of my identity and emailed it to KR....shocking, he never replied so I gess he showed me. *I wonder if that person next in line ever got 'my pedal'"....lol
@gustavopierry Seem to be hearing of a lot of people getting scammed by KR. Looks like the Aqua wins the battle. At least you can hand money over and get a pedal in exchange, rather than pay for a bogus promise via email.
@sheetsofsound - WRONG!!! You don't know what you are talking about...! Check the info below, I haven't received the products neither a single email about them. You should do a favor to this community and remove all your clips regarding KR...
Why would you send him the money in May (after already being on the waiting-list for 8 months, I assume) if you hadn't received a single email from Kevin? Sounds strange to me.
Anyway, after listening to both samples over and over, I think the Megavibe sounds more like a proper univibe. They're both excellent, but I just like the sound of the KR a little better. The MJM Sixties Vibe sounds weird to me something about the sweep that I can't get used to.
@gustavopierry Dude go buy one off eBay they're always out there. Rather than sit around complaining for 15 months and developing coronary heart disease, pay the extra for the Megavibe and save yourself. If you really can't afford to spend the extra cash because you're in a serious financial cramp, you could have stashed away $10 a month over this period and would now have the $150 needed. $289 + $150 + $15 = $454. They have sold for much higher, Hey, you can always make your money back.
@Electronicities I sold the unit right after it arrived. My complain was about the customer service not the waiting. I waited long time for a Tim pedal and for the Aquavibe. Both companies were very professional and their products are amazing. I am familiar with eBay. Thanks
@gustavopierry You should take that up with the bank bro, you should be able to get your money back. And notify the little fucker too ... I hear too many horror stories about his work ethics... would love his vibe, but don't need to get fucked over. Nor am I willing to pay someone else double what it's worth just to avoid dealing with KR directly..
Vibrato worked best on Jimi's Flying V, and he didnt use it much on the strats. Chorus is definitely a strat setting, and if I had to choose, I'd choose an aquavibe.
great video mate. I think the megavibe wins hands down, but both would be fine on anyones pedal board. The megavibe its much much more cleaner and clearer, less added tone to the circuit, the aqua sounds great, but adds a compressed tone to the tone, still fantastic, at least you can get the aqua easier, the megavibe is hard to come by other than waiting list in USA only and ebay. I have a small one off eBay - also a gypsy fuzz and the doubler octavia. :-)
@rtfan13 thanks. any chance of you puttinga decent one up? or is all you can play is that annoying non musical humming bee long haired girly man malmsteen bullshit?
we're working on originals-hope to have a 4-5 tune cd ready by late winter. i use a vibe on 1 or 2 tunes. just got the aqua, so i have to dial in the tone. the mjm really works with my stuff. i like the lovepedal pickle vibe too. thought about the mega, but from what i've heard, he's been having trouble with reliability. when zucker raved on the aqua, i thought why not--he's got the feel. your vid is very good. thought the aqua for me was what i'd like. mjm is a top guy too.
yeah, randall is like the howard hughs of pedal making. fucking great at it but he is a bit of a peanut i think. the mega definatley has a lusher chorus, but the aqua's vibrato shits all over the megas.
just got the aqua. man does it have a big sound. the mjm is based on the original vibe that mike has. but the aqua smokes. endless intoxicating tone. haven't touched the inside controls--just the front. i agree with zucker. waited 11 months. for what i had hoped for, the aqua is it. beyond expectations. my chords smoke. now i'll see which one records the best
do you have a mjm? i fiddled with the insides ofthe aqua. it was a little bit too bright for me. all the boutique vibe makers claim that thier pedal is based on the original. iistillthink the mega hs the far superior vibe . especially if you want jimi tones
i have the mjm. my aqua plays great--kept factory set. mjm does have an original--fox has been thru one too. fox has gone somewhere else with his aqua. kr from what i know does get the hendrix vibe--that's it's intent. the aqua was made for more creativity. the mjm is still very good for what it's supposed to do. i go for more of a trower tone--so big is better. i''ll keep the mjm--never know what some venues will sound up like. the pickle is also very nice--good ring
i just got mjm sixties and i personally think it sits up their with the kr and foxrox. it is 20x btter than the fulltone. just thought i'd put in my 2 cents.
agreed. i was on order for a kr but i was sick of waiting and read it took over a year for some to get it so just got the mjm and love it. you have great gear and it was exceptionally great playing, but why the $30 ds-1 with two $300 pedals?
the ds gives my crystal clear twin just the perfect amount of grit to use with my univibe pedals. im sure there are better distortion pedals out there, but it does everything i need. you should put a vid of the mjm up. there is hardly any om youtube.
@weavzy , I have the exact same pedals , also got #85 Sweetsound Ultra and smallbox Mega
Hey Baby is Chorus Mode not Vibrato ,I think ..... and the original sounds great I have 2 of those , but Aqua and Mega sound like that when really cranked amp
