  • Great photos :) I love the Isle of Wight

  • Who lives in isle of wight

  • I'm happy to live there, there are far worse places to live! Tranquillo!

  • wow so great!!!

  • I've lived on the island all my life, lol :D

  • what is the total population of the island not including tourists?

  • My first impression was a poor one as I left the hovercraft....then I got the bus to Shanklin! What a beautiful island,I spent 4 days travelling to each end and it seemed like England without the hectic ,rush life.It was so peaceful, not a motorway in sight and such friendly lovely people.I was there 2 weeks ago,so your sharp photos is a good reminder of what we left behind.A big Gold star badge for you! Thanks.

  • i live there and who ever else is watching this that lives on the island

i think you would agree with me that it can be truely beautiful

  • if any1 wants to know some places onthe island inbox me and ill be happy to help :)

  • yayy i live on the island! :D in yarmouth!

  • Wow! 6:47 and 1:36 are amazing. I have lived on the island my whole life.

  • As a painter, i am inspired, beautiful. thank you for sharing your talent with me. ohio

  • lived there for years!!! people r snotty nosed pricks!!!!

  • Wonderful work. I went there when I was small. Black Gang Chine sticks out in my mind.

  • What an amazingly beautiful video you have created here... I find it hard to believe that my mother left Freshwater Bay, IofW to come to the God forsaken land of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada where I have lived all my life. My step -dad is also from Shanklin, IofW. They used to travel back many times, but they are too ill to travel now. I will show them this and I know they will truly appreciate your beautiful photography!

  • Thanks for having me as a video response to go with your beautiful pictures of our cool island, my video is in Newchurch on the Island ;-) Thank You

    Best Wishes Pete

  • I have traveled and worked in many different countries but few places are as beautiful as our little island in spring time. Take no notice of the bitching in the comments Jamie, and it's about time you did another on of these. Keep surfing dude ;-)

  • wow amazing photography, for a beautiful little british island : )

  • @DanzigerGirlUK im 8 so fuck u bitch

  • Pity me, I live on an island of ashphalt and concrete, buzzing with cars.

Might as well be stranded, somewhere on Mars.

But there is a place that can rid me of my plight.

Tis the Isle of Wight, that's right!

  • i live on the isle of wight :D

  • You certainly have done a wonderful job with your pictures, well done indeed.

  • Gah! Why has do i have a debate on my slideshow :-(

  • gr8 work...luv t <3

  • fucking shithole id rather live in hull

  • @derecksandyoffical mate the isle of wight is awesome, fuck off

  • Not to mention the wonders of newport and ryde high street on a weekend.

If your 20 Vinny, and you've never left the island for any prolonged period post the age of 18, you really have no argument as you don't know any better. If you have no intention of leaving, then you are no doubt like the few who stay and end up living for the weekend, of which - the highlight will most probably be bogeys or the balcony.

  • This song is so lovely and so are your photos.

  • @nubbleUK I'm 20 from the isle of wight and own my own business so i truly resent your comments, i'm not a drug addict and i don't know anyone who is! The isle of wight festival/bestival are hotspots for drugs, yes but aren't all major music festivals? And maybe it has a high unemployment rate because of major employers leaving or going out of business (Vesta's). That's probably down to narrow minded people like yourself who don't want change and therefore have left the island in the 60's.

  • @Vinnyiow The reason it has the highest unemployment rates is because the only means of further education you have down their is the astounding 'Isle of Wight College' with its most applied for course being beauty. Also, its not the festivals that result in all the drug usage, it's the fact that the isle of wight is so monumentally dull for anyone over the age of 65, that the most entertaining thing a teen can do is tourniquet a vein and just go to town with a syringe.

  • beautiful it may be, but claustrophobic it is more so.

So glad I left the island.I return there, but can only handle 3-4 days.

Its definately a retirement isle, and this is apparent by the large preportion of 50-90 years olds. This is one of the reasons why it had the nickname gods waiting room.

Holidays-yes,brilliant.To live here?Think about it strongly.Theres a reason that it has the highest rate of unemployment in the uk.And why most of the youth there are, or will become drug addicts.

  • @nubbleUK I could not agree more.

  • after 3 hours i will go there to work at wight salads:)i'm from romania,i'm student and i didnt know that isle of wight is so beautiful.how is weather there in the winter?:D

  • These were amazing moments of my life...My heart is torn apart and my soul is crying when I recall hearing 'Jaadeee' from behind when on the Arreton-Newport footpath, repairing our bikes and hearing the cuckoo tune on my mobile which woke us up when staying at Phil's...and plenty of other things which I miss and which I realise will never happen again as time is passing by and we are not even together... I still love my Dzik and day in and day out I miss her more and more...Koch...I love you M!

  • The island is my adopted home and I can't imagine living anywhere else. This video has reinforced that, beautiful photography, my wife and I were gobsmacked! Thanks for sharing this with us all.

  • I always thought Heaven may be like this!!!!

  • Truly breathtaking..

  • Amazing pics, Jamie. I am an amateur photographer myself and am planning to visit the place next month. I hope i am able to do half of what you have done so beautifully. Do you ever hold ur own exhibitions and stuff? you should and you must. your talent is worth being seen by one and all. Keep it up.

  • I do love the island. watching this was magic. Your island is a place where I feel at peace, like living in the best moments of music. my heart is lifted by those memories. perhaps I'll be lucky enough to retire there; at least, that is my humble dream

  • Inspired. I'm going tomorrow and this has rev ved me up even more.!

  • Beautiful pictures, amazing!!!!!

  • Beautiful i wont to take my gf 2 see it

  • Veramente strepitoso......

  • mate some really nice pics there... good job

  • Wow - that was a meditation unto itself. Well done.

  • This is just STUNNING and I can personally vouch for the fact that the Island is visually breathtaking :)

LOVE the Enya track ( is it the Danny Elfman influence , I wonder .....)

  • beautiful

  • Wow, that was truly the most amazing thing I have ever seen on Youtube. What Enya track was that? It fitted so well. One comment I would make is that the Moon on one of the beach shots looked too large to be real. Was it "added" afterwards? (5:15) Amazing work...not one poor shot. 11/10

  • Thanks for your comment :-) The moon at 5:15 indeed isnt as it should be, it was due to me doing a double exposure in the camera, one for the moon,, the other for the scene, then the camera overlays the first image onto the second. The good thing about multi exposures is that they have been done for decades using film, and nowadays digital, and the method is pretty much exactly the same :-)

  • very beutiful photos you are a true artist thanks 4 sharing

  • You definately did the Island justice! The photo's are beautiful and the music is very suiting to the scenery. Thanks!

  • has the photographer used filters or are they taken with a mid range cammera if so wat type of camera beutiful pics m8

  • CANT WAIT 2 SEE THIS 4 MYSELF

  • Hey dumbo learn to Spell is it "" cammera "" or ""camera""

    You really are a retard

  • spelling test boring

  • 4q u understood what he wrote .not everyone had the chance to go 2 school.if u r so smart why not answer the question instead of insults

  • All of these pics were taken using a polarizer and/or ND filters.

Some of these are digital and a lot of them are shot with film which cost loads!

Cameras are a Nikon f80 and velvia film, fuji s3, Nikon d80 and a Nikon d2x.

The other slideshows were taken with the same bunch of camera's including a Nikon D300.

I hope that helps answer your question :-)

  • Astounding. Some of those images are just magical - a bit like they have been taken in Middle-Earth ("May It Be" connection)... I can't believe some of the colours are natural. Keep up the great work! Well done.

  • One of the moste beatuiful videos i've seen in the youtube, combined with beautifull music!!

  • Just Beautiful!!!

Hello from Ventnor, NJ USA! :)

  • Absolutely Awesome! Brings back some very happy memories :)

  • wow this pictures are beautiful

  • WOW! What wonderful pictures, I love the Isle Of Wight and have been going there on holliday for many many years, lots of great memories

  • I've lived here over 18 years now and I'm STILL finding places on this island that make me go "wow". It's only 12 by 17 miles, you would have thought I'd have seen everything, but it's still able to surprise me.

Recently I met with a photographer who lives here and I was so shocked by some of his work. But, since seeing this video, I realise that he had an advantage, with such a beautiful place to work with.

  • I don't suppose it was Steve Gascoigne? He takes beautiful photographs.

  • I meant to say "He takes beautiful photographs TOO." These are gorgeous of course!

  • IT WAS! That was him - amazing bloke

As you can see/hear I made a vid of this great Enya song and thought you might like to hear a 'home grown version' :D

    Hollyx

  • a good collection of fine shots that show our Island at its best. A good place to live. Thanks.

  • Truly awesome photographs. I was born and raised on the Island. Now live in Texas, and miss the Island and its beauty. This was wonderful to watch. Thank you - you are an Artist!!

  • awesome pics - going to be there this march - thanks for such a nice outlook.

  • Your shots are incredible. I do photography myself and also spent five and a half years living in West Cowes...but your photography skills are formidable. Great work. What camera do you use?

  • I have just moved to the island from London. What a beautiful place. This vid barely does it justice even though it is truly magical.

  • This is so beautiful. Lovely pic of my home and a place I am proud to call home. Thankyou spongesurfer this is truly wonderful.

  • wow these pics are awsome all the pics that i take come out looking naff hehe

  • beautiful, really beautiful

  • eek! apologies a thousand-fold - i truly didn't mean to start slanging matches. i love photos like 755, 986, 644, 867, z1216, z1221...just wondered aloud if you would consider putting shots like these into another slide show? the isle of wight as i know it. thanks for your wise comments philmex!

  • lol i used to live in sandown untill we moved to cappy watford lol miss my old m8s there!

  • Wow, that is pure beauty. Thanks for posting!

  • I think what you have done here is really captured the essence of the Island, its magical quality and mysticism - WELL DONE (Good choice of music too).

  • that is soooo beautiful, its magical !!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow. Those are really amazing!

  • The music is Enya then the song from Edward Scissor Hands right?

  • Yup, Edward Scissor hands indeed! I thought it would go pretty well at the time, im not 100% sure if it does but what the hell! :-)

  • Yes, it was Ventnor Revisited. If this is revisited is the original visit on You Tube? I couldn't find it, does it exist?

As an aside, I enjoy making and editing video and find that Enya always has something in her back catalog to fit the occassion. The Vangelis piece to adds remarkably to the atmosphere of your show also.

  • Just been nosing around and found a ghost hunt vid with a surfing photographer called Jamie, is that you?

  • If its by a team called wight ghost......i am a team member....so yes, it was probably me ;-) what vid was it? Ventnor revisited?

  • The Island, as beautiful as you will find anywhere in the world, photographed with skill and with a sensitivity that shows a love of our beloved Wight.

  • Thanks for your comments people!

Just thought i should let you know that the website at the end of the slideshow has changed to islandvisions . co . uk

  • Thank you Spongersurfer ,for sharing Wonderful slides...

    (5 stars !!!)

  • wow. absolutely fantastic. I've been visiting the island for holidays for the past 20 odd years and I'm hoping to move there sometime this year once my house is sold. I recognised most of the places and I have to say your photographs are breath taking. Are you a professional photographer?

  • I have just uploaded another Isle of Wight slide show, its a bit crap compared to this one but its ok i guess!

    you can find it here

  • Ok not here! I cant post URL's!

If you want to watch the new slideshow, click on my username further up the page (spongesurfer)

  • As an Isle of Wighter myself, I really enjoyed your pictures. Great colours and the lightning ones are quite special.

    Thanks for sharing.

Give me another 20 years and I might be upto your standard.

  • Well the only IOW surfer I know who has a decent camera is a Chef, and a good one at that. Superb pictures and well put together. Keep em coming and knock on the tourism board with proofs. Red funnel once bought rights to a picture my father took and used it on their billboards.

Nice work. Looking forward to more.

  • I would just like to say I have lived on the Island since birth (30yrs), and you did it justice with your pictures. They were amazing and I really enjoyed the slide show.

  • I just love the IOW! We went about a month ago camping! The weather was ace! I'd love to live there one day!

  • Brilliant we will be going there in two weeks time

  • Superb! I thought "Available Light" photos were good, yours are stunning! More please. We are so lucky to live here.

  • Thanks for you comments!

I am in the process of getting a new movie maker, once i have it i will get to work on creating a new movie with all the shots i have taken over the summer. :-)

  • Wonderfull!!- the music works perfectly

with the screens. Very emotional. Thank you very much. The end of the video says "sweet dreams". I love it!!!

  • Wonderful! - I live in the USA now, but thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful and thoughtful trip home. Thanks Jamie!!

  • I live on this Island in Northwood and have taken many thousands of photographs over the years, none of them live up to the spectacular pictures you have presented in this slideshow. Respect

  • Awesome mate, gd work. Wanted to do something like this for a while, it's an amazing place to live. Good on you - cheers

  • Moya is in my Musical Deity (ladies) playlist, and I live in Sandown. This vid will go in faves somewhere :D

  • oh it was Enya, she's in my Musical Deity playlist too. :D (I just got to the end of the vid... credits)

  • wonderful! nice use of clannad there... someone mentioned a diamond shaped island, I'm pretty sure that the word Vectis means diamond (shape) in Latin. Every time I try to add audio to windows movie maker it freezes my PC, any idea why?

  • fuck me i thort my videos were crap

  • Well when your using windows movie maker what can you expect, anyway its not about the movie, its about the photo's and to show the beauty of where i live, anyway, its funny how all the comments have been positive and yours is the only negative one.......you shallow minded tit!

  • I Know All About That 'Special Feeling' You Mention The Island Can Give One! Since I First Visited In '92 I've Longed To Live There ..... & Now With My Husband Soon To Retire We Do Finally Plan To Move As Soon As We Sell Our Present Home! Your Photography Is Amazing! This Whole Video Brought Tears Of Emotion To My Eyes! Yes .... It Is A Very Special Place .... Deeply Spiritual! Thank You So Much For Placing This On You Tube! This Is Being Saved In My 'Favorites'. Thank You!

  • i live on the island and have done for 40 years, you have truly captured the beauty of the island and your video reminds me to appreciate my home more and for that i thank you :-)

  • WOW!! Beautiful, well done.

  • Wow, what a stunning video! The music fit perfectly with the photograph's, which were amazing. I go to the Isle of Wight on holiday every year, and absolutely love it there...fab video!
