Besides, I'd rather pay higher tuition than have those unmotivated scholarship-holders on campus... some of them ain't too bright.

You don't see those UK haters, Gillispie haters, and Minn fans talking shit anymore do you? I don't bc once Gillispie got Tubby's players to play Gillispie's style and Gillispie (being a good coach) found ways to best use the little talent he has, depsite a ton of injuires still - Gillispie has this team playing very well and overachieveing. Tubby's teams never over achieved, they just beat the ones they were suppose to, lose to the one they were suppose to, and split the rest. Go Gillispie

@kycats06 Tubby Smith was a much better coach for UK than Gillispie...I don't know where you got that Gillispie made the team better...very low seed his first year of the tournament, then not making the tournament altogether the second year - not to mention he was a very poor ambassador for the program.

@ReuWil You are right on the money. Gillispie was just in over his head. I'm a Louisville fan, but it's no secret that being the UK coach is more than just standing on the sidelines. You have to have a certain charisma, with fans and the media, in addition to winning. If he had won more, his poor attitude would have been overlooked somewhat, but he really just didn't fit. Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, and John Calipari all work the media, fans, and win. Gillispie just wasn't in their league.

I'm a UK fan and alum and as much as hate to see UK lose any games, I am SO happy for Tubby that his team is 6-1 and UK is 4-3. (no this doesn't mean I'm happy UK is 4-3!)

Born and raised in Lexington and feel that Smith was a GREAT UK coach. Minnesota will be very happy with Coach Smith down the road.

I agree with all of us Kentuckians that find Tubby to be a 100% class-act. His performance, directness and creativity as a coach under enormous amounts of pressure far outweighed any mishandlings, bad seasons or decisions made, or even the so often repeated cliche' that "he couldn't recruit". . . . I totally respect him as a coach and mentor, and I am a Kentucky fan who is proud to call him one our past great coaches.
