i play flute piccolo, oboe, basson, english horn, contrabassoon clarinet bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, bass flute, bass oboe, alto flute, soprano alto tenor bari and bass saxs, trumpet, trombone, french horn, contrabass french horn, tuba and piccolo french horn
I play trombone, piano, flute, saxophone, clarinet and percussion :) control your embrochure! Stabilise it! you sound real airy! :) WELL TIGHTEN YOUR LIPS! You have some air holes
Angel15793. I honestly don't believe you. You should know how to spell BARI SAXOPHONE. If you don't know "Bari" is short for baritone... I'm sorry I'm 13 and play flute/piccolo (1st chair) in band, viola, violin, clarinet,alto/Bari/tenor saxophone, bassoon, oboe, French horn, tuba, trombone, trumpet, piano, and guitar...
hi, im in marching band and currently play the flute and will be soon playing piccolo. i was wondering if that pecific tipe of piccolo is good for marching? also i tink you did a great job!
However, eighth (your right) on your hands ... fast runs require a loose hand. Holding the piccolo as you would hold a tennis ball (hand hole) ... Good luck, Greetings from Hamburg-Germany
I want a piccolo so bad. I've been playing flute for about 8 years now and I've never tried playing the piccolo. You're really good and also one of the first guys I've seen on youtube play piccolo. :)
Well, it helps if you sit up straight. Next, make the Piccolo at a 90 degree angle to your mouth. Also, make sure your air is being directly blown into the hole. Finally, make sure you put more air into it~!
@Jyerobertjamesmusic Heh, yeah. And at the time of recording, I had been playing flute for about ten years and piccolo for less than a month. All good fun :)
I'm a flute player from a prestigious HS band... Needs work on tone, but I can see you know what you're doing... Me, I'm not as fond of piccolos as flutes b/c I had to use a crappy one a few years ago... Have you tried playing a fife? It might work better for you... Pics are sooo nasty to tune...!
@Kates1621AVERAGE I came from a high school with barely a music program, and go to a college with no music degree :p Yeah, my tone isn't the best, but granted, this video was recorded during the first year of ever playing picc. And fife sounds good; I just don't have access to one x.x Know anywhere that has them for cheap?
we played this in 7th grade xD i sight read stars and stripes forever on piccolo for tryout for marching piccolo...got most of it...been playing picc for almost a year now and flute for almost 4 years
@KrissyAnn448 Cool, keep it up! At the time of recording (back in what, 2008?), I had been playing flute for about ten years and piccolo for one month :p
how much diffrent is the Piccolo than the flute? cuz i play flute and i have a piccolo that is getting repaded and diffrents springs all that and i want to know how much diffrent the fingerings are
This is pretty good a bit airy at parts but not bad considering piccolo is one of the harder wind instruments. I've played flute for like 2 years now and I just ordered a piccolo, so I'll start playing it in couple of weeks.
@MadHatterGeek Yeah, picc is kinda rough. At the time of recording, I had been playing picc for less than a month (our marching band switched from flute/picc mix in 2007 to all piccs in '08 onward)
@Crishaana they all require a different approach, for example i am very good at playing low notes on my flute so playing a bass flute was really easy for me but though my high notes come out fine its harder for me so i have trouble playing the piccolo
You have pretty good tone. I'm jealous, I play flute and I've played piccolo for marching and for certain concert pieces, and I have issues with tone and tuning. I'm always ridiculously sharp! :D
great job!! a little airy in the beginning and in a few of the higher notes though but thats hard not to do on piccolo! but it was really good! i play flute and piccolo as well and am learning this song...this helped a lot to hear you play! 2 thumbs up lol :)
@ZabrasRock i start piccolo after 4 years of flute! it took me about 1 month to get use to it and another year to finally able to play it with a good tone.
im hoping 2 play piccolo soon from my lessions teacher sooo well we played dis in our concert a few weeks ago (honor band only btw is top band) im 3rd chair and ya i agree tho it iz airy
It's a little airy, particularly on the upper staff and notes right above the staff. Make the whole tighter when you blow. If you jaws/cheeks don't hurt, then you're not doing it right.
Gotta agree with the other comments regarding tightening the embouchure...that'll really help with the breathiness especially in the lower notes. You can also try practicing playing octaves using *just* the head joint alone. On either flute or pic it really makes a difference in the embouchure and learning just how to direct the airflow. I was amazed at the difference in tone after I tried doing this.
I agree. It'll really help!! :D You're grace notes weren't really coming out that great either... but I think the embouchure tightening thing will help with that.
Pretty good!
