  • I am American and have had Timmies 3 times in my life while I was visiting MTL and would absolutely die if I got banned for life from there.

  • i think im going to go get some timmies

  • Speaking of all of that "taxing us to death", a huge chunk of our taxes go to fund the CBC's budget, which in turn pays his salary.

  • This music is redundant.

  • well read eh???

  • Fuck Tim Horton's.

    Phoney Patriotic Bullshit.

  • @CrazzyOntarian The CBC is no "icon" it is a 1.2 billion dollar burden on the Canadian tax payer . It is not 1950 and government has no business being in the broadcasting business using tax money against the private sector . Why did i click on a video about the CBC if i don't like it ? Because it's a free country and after spending the last 1.5 years in Afghanistan i think i have earned the right to exercise my freedoms . How about you tough guy , how have you served this country ?

  • @hanksnow82 listen hank,i have huge respect for those who serve in the military, but i cringe when people dis the cbc. it IS an icon. it offers much more in terms of viewpoint, imo. i do not resent my tax dollars going towards it at all. so there you go, and if you want to know how the regular joes serve this country, its through paying taxes and voting.

  • @wonderwhyify The CBC is as outdated as rabbit ears on a TV . Just think what good that 1.3 billion could do if applied to health care or education instead of bringing me Wheel of Fortune .

  • @hanksnow82 i have rabbit ears because i have better things to do with my money than pay for cable.

  • @hanksnow82 You served no one in this country in Afghanistan. How dare you suggest murdering Afghanis for the opium trade is "serving Canada". It's too bad you came back. It would have been better for you to have been killed there. That would mean one less redneck idiot with a gun marching around countries who need the space and time to develop on their own. By being in the Canadian military, you support murder for the wests economic gain, and you insult all of us with your arrogance.

  • @JonnyCashmore Failing at life seems to have made you very angry

  • drivethru,DRIVETHRU

  • there is obviously more to the story than what is being let on... that tim hortons location must of had a good reason to ban the customer...

  • Tim Horton's sucks.

Worst Job I ever had working for that company.

And yes there coffee does suck.

  • @snake2006 meh, the coffee grows on you.

  • What's the music used in these bits from? Specially written for Q, or is there a full version somewhere?

  • Lol I worked at that tim hortons lol

  • Have you seen the big line ups at the train stations in Europe after the big snow storm, well that is what it is like at Tim Horton's every day.

  • I now live in the southern US and can't get my Timmies fix. I Hate Starbucks :(

  • hahah nice. I work at timys and some stupid asshole comin in a every 7h pm and makes my college feel like shit... when my manager wasnt ther i told him to fuck off once. I just working there til my studies next year is over so i dont care about my job to much, but for Cindy who has been working there for 8 years, and this jackass that make her fucking miserable everyday.. as mr. Ghomeshi we have pursue happyness, but when someone blocks your happyness, he does NOT desurve his double double. BAN

  • Who the fuck listens to CBC radio ?

  • @hanksnow82 obviously yo just did

  • @Spazcan No i watched a YouTube clip with some retard from the CBC on it . That is a long way from tuning in the CBC on my radio , which i would never do .

  • @hanksnow82 I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions....and thus I'm going to take this opportunity to voice mine....you sir are an ass! And you shouldn't be coming on here and making uneducated hateful remarks towards a Canadian Icon (the CBC)! If you don't like the CBC, then why in the world did you click on a video featuring someone from the CBC in the first place? Probably because your just an idiot looking to stir up S*it and insult people...aka a Troll...

  • It would be an honor to the subject of one of Jian's rants.

  • I am always interested and what Jian has to say! :)

  • @emberscatsootie *in what Jian has to say*.

  • WoW, Ghomeshi, you should wake up out of your idiotic nationalist daze and tell it like it is, Canadian 'concern' over the petty going's on of a Tim Hortons shop is not some laudable aspect of our unique culture, rather an example of our petty minded and backwards parochialism. This story and your apologetics are a pathetic joke...

  • @TruthTeller54

you are not making any sense, go back to school and learn how to write

and to appreciate the Canadian sense of humour.

  • @TruthTeller54 Sorry I couldn't hear you over my health care benefits!!!!

  • @TruthTeller54 lol, look who's talking.

  • @TruthTeller54

you obviously have a pea-sized brain, you moron.

  • For those of you who don't respect Tim Horton's, leave Canada for a few months and then you'll realize what a great place it is

  • Oh, Jian... *swoon* How pensive you are. ;)

  • My god. *pause* You talk like*pause*William Shatner.

  • Why is the opening/background music different on these videos than it is on the radio?

  • @daveyboy07

    Because this isn't the radio.

  • Yeah I have to say I love Tim Hortons for their treats, but their coffee is horrible, I only get it if I need a cheap warm caffeine kick. I make sure there is enough milk and sugar in it.

  • It's a good video. By the way - the guy is a paramedic. Tim Horton's was "in the area" of where he works late at night. Other places are out of the way. He went to Tim Horton's Burnt Coffee Sellers out of convenience. It wasn't burnt every time he went there, but sometimes it was! So, he complained! Tim Horton's should have THANKED HIM instead of banning him. I will NEVER go to a Tim Horton's simply because this guy did the right thing and he deserves support in numbers. I am on his side.

  • @halhelmboldt absolutely! when coffee is burnt somebody needs a punch in the face (metaphorically speaking).

  • @halhelmboldt there is obviously more to the story then he was letting on... i work overnight at a tim hortons.. and under certain circumstances we can ban a customer as with any other business out there... if tim hortons felt it was necessary to ban this customer then it was deserved... he was compaining way to much even when it could be apparent that nothing was done incorrectly by the employee... some customers just like to complain, which could become problematic if it gets out of hand

  • No one can make a comparison to this guys individual experience. I am certain that there were some lazy employees who allowed the coffee to become scorched. This guy purchased decaf coffee and it tasted terrible! He complained and Tim Horton's banned him for complaining. They should have thanked him and video taped how long the decaf was sitting in the hot, scorching pot and then fired the lazy employees who did it. Because of this, in support of him, I will NOT go to Tim Hortons - EVER!

  • @halhelmboldt it is highly unliklly that he would of got banned over 1 complaint... the issue is here that he was complaining many times... over the same thing... and you really dont know all the details of how old the coffee really was...

for all you know the coffee he got and complained over was a fresh pot...

  • Hey Dude, please approve my video - I too had a TIM HORTON'S ISSUE!

  • Comment removed

  • The guy deserved the ban in my opinion. Apparently they would make entire new pots just for him and he would still complain. I'm pretty sure he took it to such a level where the owner was just fed up, and now the guy is on the defensive playing the poor victim. Personally I think he's a dick who didn't know when enough was enough and he got what he deserved.

  • why would this guy keep on going to tim horton s if he hates the coffee.

as an ex waitress i feel some people feel so small that they have to piss off minimum wage workers to make them feel better and important .

    i have actually asked customers

:why do you keep comming here if you hate it so much ? they mostly answer

_because i m allowed to go where i want...

    WTF ?

    go someplace else motherfuckers .

this time , i agree with tim hortons

  • hahaha. Well done Jian.

  • I find Tim Horton's coffee is be bloody awful. I'd rather have Second Cup, or Starbucks. Other than that, Hortons is good for everything else, but their coffee is weak and tastes like warm water. I agree with the guy that got banned.

  • When someone can show me an actual coffee bean used in Tim Horton's pre-fabricated "blend", then I'll consider calling it coffee.

For now, the best name for that liquid is Canada Export's label for other countries choosing to import it; "hot drink".

It is NOT unadulterated coffee. And the taste gives that away.

  • I think the idea of a huge chain pushing a mono culture across the country is entirely "un-Canadian" , whereas locally run and owned shops is quintessentially Canadian.

  • Most excellent Jian, most excellent.

  • Great opening. Jian is world class

  • Stylin' as always, but I prefer the intros that have just as much substance too--"you can subject us to prorogation but don't take away our coffee and baked goods"? I think prorogation caused a slightly larger uproar than this. I avoid Timmy's coffee and don't have much taste for baked goods, and I never like Canadians getting essentialised/caricatured, especially when we do it to ourselves.

  • I was visiting a friend in the hospital here in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and I whitnessed an employee of the Tim Horton's in the hospital ban a late stage terminal cancer patient from the store because it took them to long to decide what they wanted to order. The patient's doctor came down to the 'Timmy's' to request this patient (who literally had just a few days left to live) be allowed access to the store, and still refused because the patient was "holding up the line".

  • I remember working at Tim Hortons. As I remember it, the majority of coffee complainers were all decaff drinkers. I don't know what it was but they seemed to be the one's who were most uptight.

Also, decaff is garbage to begin with anyways. I don't know how people drink that coffee in disguise, especially from Tim's.

Regardless I still prefer Williams, though I wish there were more of them around.

  • I liked this Opening, Jian. Coffe is not the most healthy drink out there...

  • Comment removed

  • I live in Nova Scotia, I have probably been to the Tim Hortons in question :P

  • Tim Horton coffee is only as good as the employee making it.

Anyone can order 10 double doubles and end up with 10 totally different tasting coffee's. I no longer patronize Tim Hortons because of their consistent, inconsistencies.

  • Well said. Made me laugh.

  • Is he banned from all Timmies or just that one?

  • haha ... he's banned from that one and the one in the next town! LOL

  • Ï hope they get to the real story about how shitty tim horton's donuts are..

  • XL double double and two Walnut Crunch's.

  • This person must be the luckiest person in the world, He does not have to drink their pig slop anymore. I will never drink from them. Williams or Coffee Culture much better

  • I prefer the other Tim's: Timothy's

Usually in the downtown core and always fresh.

  • I guess it's official: Tom Hortons really is the Evil Empire.

I can't stand their coffee; it tastes like a coffee milkshake. There's always Starbuck's, provided you can find one where it doesn't taste burnt. Second Cup is okay, if you like your coffee pedestran. I prefer the stuff they have at this little place run by a university's bookstore. It's always fresh because they move it by the gallon. The carafes are drained in minutes after being put out. It's smooth and strong. Delicious!

  • Either way, I'm going to Tim Hortons now.

  • Tim Horton would be rolling in his grave if he knew about his beloved empire was awash in mediocer pre-fab doughnuts and shitty last chance-save your ass fair trade coffee.

Good Bye tim hortons, hello local fresh bakeries!

  • mmmm. Tim Horton's. another fav part of yearly trips to Canada=) <3 lol tea party... ahh that thing annoys me... yayy maple glaze!

  • banned from timmies, damn

  • Truly Canadian "Eh"? heeheehee Wonderful piece and all with a good sense of satire and humour :)

  • If prorogation meant that Tim Hortons shut down for a couple of months, I'm sure the revolution would be on.

  • Excellent essay, Mr. Jian Ghomeshi.

  • Very nice prose Mr. Ghomeshi.

  • being banned from a greedy corporation is AWARD winning. Stellar!!!!!

    Who is the genius?!!!
