  • this version has the entire chorus of teddy bear's picnic for game start music, unlike the arcade version that only had 1/4

  • "My Hero" (breaking hearts).

  • yeahhhhhh!!!!i rember this fantastic game!!!

  • one of the best

  • What came first, this or Jet Set Willy?

One's obviously ripping off the other.

  • Todays the day the, erm... Hunchbacks have their picnic? Strange song choice. Love them game though.

  • Been looking for so long omg thank u!!!

  • Absolutely loved this game on the commodore 64! So many hours spent playing after school. Have been searching for a modern replacement and there's a game called "The Rescue" in the iTunes AppStore that brings back the memories... check it out!

  • The game looks so simple when you play it... But I remember very clearly that this game was anything but simple...

  • sweet play dr!!

  • WOW!!!!! I miss this game. It bring me back to the 80's. This game make me feel old. LOL........ Hey Wii bring this game. Or XBO360

  • this is unhuman skill, must be bot paying it

  • this is not the complete game, there were two more levels after this one, then it went back to the start. I used to have it when I was a kid on the C64 and I have it again now on here that i downloaded off the internet.

  • First game I EVER played on a Commodore 64!!!!!!!!!!11

  • LOOOOL me toooo!!! Days and days!!!!

  • Fantastico!!!

  • lol this was the second c64 game i ever played after Bruce Lee. Simple, fun, awesome.

  • @dmd185 Look out at ebay and you will propably be able to get a working C64 pretty cheap. Just don't buy the first one you find, be patient and observe, so you get a good deal.

Then there are different possibilites to get games you download from the internet to play on your real C64, either using a cable to transfer them from your PC to real disks (cheap), or using one of the modern drives for the C64 that take SD cards (more expensive, but also easier, more reliable and shorter load times)

  • Bloody hell it's my Childhood, Jet Set Willy, Monty Mole.. and HYPER SPORTS.. and much much more..

  • Everyone knows that when a rope swings it produces white noise... :)

  • Brings back memories.

  • this game and H.E.R.O. was my favourite

  • Nice memories. :) I also got this into the end but it took some time as it's a way it should be, I think.

  • Thew BBC version was much harder then this!!!!

  • Man! I spent hours and hours playing this game, great memories and a great quality capture - thanks DerSchmu.

Seeing this again I've also realised where Michael J. got his idea for the Moonwalk, I guess he must also have been playing on the C64 back in the day. Walking between the different scenes .. that Hunchback is most certainly getting down with his bad self ;-)

  • Perfectly played dude! Now try EXPERT mode :) This is what follows next to the MY HERO sequence! This is really tough.

  • Yes yes! This along with Beach Head was one of my first C64 games. It's incredible how easily it all comes flooding back.

  • C64 pwoned all back in the day! I miss mine!

    Load"$",8,1 RUN

  • oops! I meant

    Load"$",8,1 Return

  • The $ was for the directory, wasn't it ?

You didn't need ,1 for the dir. AFAIR.

You only needed it for loading the actual program, when used with a *

And that was for you lucky disk drive owners! My bro & I had a datasette for many MANY years.

So it was just LOAD and then next program on the tape came up, eventually!!!! Ghostbusters was 57 on the counter!!

  • LOAD"$",8 [Return]

    LOAD"HUNCHBACK",8,1 [Return]

    RUN [Return]

  • you made that seem way too easy! such a simple concept, jumping and running at the proper times. took me forever to finish back when. well played!

  • I remember those guys at 1:20.

They stabbed me in the sack a few times as I was jumping over them. :-(

  • I spent days on this as a kid lol

  • This game costs me a lot of joysticks.

Especially the levels 11 and 13.

Well done dude, u lost no life.

  • this game & "The Human Race" = two-way tie for most infuriating games in history.

  • oh i loved this game!

  • video games were much simpler back then - BUT loading times on the 1541 disk drive - AAARRRGGGGHHH

  • dolphin dos or a fast loader fixed that ;-) . be thankful you didn't have atari 8 bit .. tape loading times , slow.. i'd set the game up 20 minutes before I wanted to play it (elektraglide.. amazing game.. ish loading time)

  • I could only get 3 quarters the way through. Great vid and its nice to see the end. Brings back memories. Thanks

  • vize the imposter is one of the toughest fights in the game.

  • Thanks for the video... I never beat this game as a kid.

  • awesome!!!

  • First C64 or any other computer game I have ever played. It sucks but it´ll always have a special place in my heart :D

  • i thought the amstrad version was superior

  • that game makes me want to commit suicide. Seriously.

  • I can relate, i found this game more depressing than Bongo Bongo, definitely in the same mind numbing league as Aztec Challenge. Blue Max was a ton of fun compared to this ;)

  • Sadly, she loved him only platonically due to his hideous deformities.

  • @TubularMonkey maybe he's gay anyway so no probs for him ;)

  • Yeah, I had this game and it was the shiznit!! :P

  • Ha, I didn't know my longplay was put on youtube. :)

@sonnetone (if you ever get to read this, that comment's quite old): This video is tool-assisted, so it's really not all that great. Actually I never managed to beat that game "back in the old days". Being able to save makes it a lot easier. *g*

  • this was the most difficult C64-Game i had when i was 12 years old.. but i loved it!. Danke, Mann!

  • Oh man. I used to play this game alot, and now I can't find a reason why... nice play. That game is freaking hard.

  • not bad!!

  • Nice!

  • there was a game like this called quasimodo revenge

  • now i know how it work - i made a similar music remix video from it.

  • dang, that is a hard game, and yet clocked in under 6 mins without a life lost??? must be some sort of record. fantastic.

  • Amazing...
