Wow this is old. Notify the manager if the temperature of the auditorium is uncomfortable? Haha only in America, and back in the.. (whenever this was made.) Nowadays there's health and safety and so many people complain for no reason it's barely worth their time going at all if you ask me.
who wrote the music at 1:21? It's driving me crazy not knowing. If anyone can help please post here. Is it library music or was it written specifically for the advert?
the westler hot dogs look like 7-11's quater pound big bite hot dog. oh god now i have a craving for hot dogs, damn it and i just had a craving for a sushi buffet, DAMN YOU WESTLERS!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to find the KPM music, so that I can listen to it in its proper entirety. You'll find a more upbeat 30-second version of it on YouTube videocode ZIuwkN3Jc5w .
@ggeudraco That's another version of Score with strings. That's also on the album KPM 13 - Upfront.
If you want to listen, simply look for the KPM Musichouse website. There should be a box on the main page for PLAY Production Music. Click on option #2 to enter as a guest and you're in :)
Were the Previewtime and the Hollywood Bar themes library music as well? The Previewtime music sounds like it's a Johnny Pearson or Keith Mansfield composition to me...
Cool stuff. I love these old gems. Growing up in North East England in the 1980s our local ABC was already derelict but I remember the Odeon first choice titles very well. Could you post a higher resolution version?
LMAO 2:43 the voice over sounds perverted! Sounds like someone thats been doing too much deep throating! 3:36 LOL beef on hoof! Poor creatures! 3:39 first few seconds sounds like The Pet Shop Boys west end girls? Its odd Odeon isnt my first or even second choice. Empire Leicester Square is first middle and last choice.
Who animated the ABC Cinemas policy snipe? It looks very similar in wording and design to the United Artists Theatres policy trailer of the 70's and 80's over here in the US. "Escape To The Cinema" is in the same font and layout as UA Theatres' slogan at the time "Escape To The Movies!"
The "First Choice ODEON" set was started in 1986 (Gen 1 set) and stopped in 1990 and replaced with the Gen 2 set cut down to 4 titles with new soundtrack and no voiceover that was scrapped later in 1996 when the "The First Choice" slogan was dropped and replaced with "ODEON Cinemas" Idents and lasted until October 1998 with the "ODEON Fanatical About Film" titles which their slogan is still around today.
Did the "No Smoking" snipe lasted until 1986 when the Rank Organisation stopped their cinema industry and the "Rank ODEON" idents changed over to "First Choice ODEON"?
The narrator for this "No Smoking" snipe is Rupert Ackroyd (Promotions manager for the Rank Organisation a.k.a. ODEON)
Thanks very much especially the ABC "Escape to the Cinema" promo. It ran from 1982 to 1987 and I've been waiting a long time to see it again. Music is KPM 1300 by Richard Myhill. Roger Cherrill Ltd made the promo.
Wow those old odeon cinema idents took me back we used to have a old odean cinema in preston town centre ( next to tokyo jo,s) i used to love going there. I dont go to the cinema much now its too commercial theres no individuality there any more too american.
Great video, I remember the ident at 3:40 when I did my work experience at Coventry Odeon on Jordan Well in 1996 I must have seen it 30 times in two week!
Great stuff and Michael Aspel on the 'Preview Time' voice overs I believe."If the temperature of this auditorium is uncomfortable, please notify the manager"...those were the days!

what is the difference between beer and lager? ps i don't drink alcohol, because i don't like the taste.
megaben99 1 year ago
@megaben99 It depends on how it's brewed; but as a whole, lagers are lighter and taste crisper than beers.
antster1983 1 year ago
@antster1983 So what you see in the Hollywood Bar advert is a pint of lager :o)

Did the Rank ODEON "PREVIEWTIME" ident lasted until 1977/1978?
chaoreturnsforgood76 2 years ago
Am I right in thinking that the voiceover from 0:48 to 0:53 and from 2:50 to 3:07 is Anthony Hopkins?
And from 4:18 to 4:34 is Michael Aspel?
rantum 2 years ago
That's Rupert Ackroyd (voiceover from the NO SMOKING snipe) He was the promotons manager for the Rank ODEON Cinemas.
And Hollywood BAR is not part of ODEON it's part of the ABC Cinemas. There was an ODEON Bar but it's not there anymore
chaoreturnsforgood76 2 years ago
woods2121 I think the "Hollywood BAR" and "Silence Please!" promos were used at ABC Cinemas?
There was an "ODEON Bar" at the old ODEON Cinemas there was Bimbi's Resturant at the ODEON Newcastle (former Paramount) which are now closed.
chaoreturnsforgood76 2 years ago
The Hollywood Bar voiceover sounds almost like Alan Whicker. Confirmation, anyone?

@053bss He sounds like he's been propping up the Hollywood Bar long before the cinema opened!

Was it still the First Choice Odeon period when the Star Wars Special Editions came out?
Or maybe when Sidwell St reopened and they had the two Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner films back to back..
