Clark did what he did to protect other people but there were a lot of people who would've accepted him regardless if told them his secret. Lana, Chloe, Lois, Jimmy, and potentially even more. Lex might've even been able to become a lot less evil with the super presence of Clark around. He spent most of his life worried what people would think that he never really allowed himself the chance to be honest until a lot later on in life (the series).

The producers of Smallville have broken alot of the Comic Rules, they might aswell break it again bring lana back into the picture as well as Chloe rising.

First of all, I really enjoy the song ("Goodbye Again" by Vertical Horizon) and it was a smooth background tune to have with this scene. The chemistry and bond between Clark & Lana [Tom & Kristin] is downright chilling because it's so believable and raw. Lana is very impassioned and pleading for answers, but in an honest caring way. Clark is very nervous about maintaing his secret (and composure) away from her, but you can still see hurt in his expression for doing so. Meaningful lines here too.
i wish he would just grap her and kiss her he's always playing on the safe side common take a risk 4 once in ur life he can be really dum lana is soooo inlove with him and he is too... ok he's from another planet bla bla doesnt he know what he looks like any girl would take him no matter what and she said its ok if he has powers...(sighs) god this show is gonna drive me crazy.. love it though
