Beautiful. Simply beautiful. My son played the Firth intro at a recital recently and we watched your rendition for inspiration. Look up 'Firth of Fifth - Joe's Third Piano Recital' and remember that he's only 8 years old.
Your attention to detail in the dynamics of the left hand, bass notes, shows your mastery of this song, you really do it justice!. I would buy a recording with you playing some of these Genesis piano pieces.By the way your right hand is no slouch either lol!
If i could i would playing with you all Genesis songs which i was capable on drums. Ihve started on Piano when i was 8 years old,and at now i´m playing drums on Church. But I have to tell you something: NICE FIRTH OF FIFTH PIANO EXECUTION :)
I know this is a lot to ask, but do you think you could possibly put up a tutorial for this so us novice pianists may learn? I have a hard time learning by sheet music and need tutorial videos in order to play, I'd be forever indebted to you should you post one.
@20centjes Ik vrees van wel... Gelukkig is er tijdens het bewerken iets misgegaan waardoor alles in 16:9 is gerendered, en dit had tot gevolg dat mijn hoofd amper zichtbaar is ;-)
Hi, my name is Vincent Laberge. I want to play Firth of fifth with my band. It would be very thank if you send me the full score for band. This can be done by Sibelius 3 or as photo-image. Thank you in advance.
...did you just play Firth of Fifth on the piano with no sheet music or anything? Skills...I can't even play the intro without staring at piano tabs and even then, ho ho not happening. Sure hope I can play the piano bit of Firth of Fifth on the piano some day, this whole thing is really well made. I would've been impressed if it was just the piano bit but you went for the full thing and did a great job!
One question: Have you used the Native Instruments B4, right? Can you tell me what preset you used for take that sound? I'm looking for the setup for take a sound like the genesis. (Sorry about my english...i'm spanish =P)
In the B4 I use the 'Wither Shade of Pale' preset wich I adapt a little bit, it's a matter of playing with the drawbars... I usually use a diminished chord, esp. in Firth of Fifth. Good luck.
Great job and I know the piano part and guitar part and flute part I just don't know how to play all those synth chords. I need the sheet music. Do you know where I can get it? Also I want to be a rock star when I grow up because I play so many instruments I can barely count them all. 5 stars and keep playing!

Have just watched all 3 parts, absolutely superb. Don't worry about not being a singer, I wish I could play just one instrument so well. The sound is so accurate to the original. Many thanks for sharing.
Excellent! Your Yamaha sounds exactly like the piano in the album version, at least to me. It has a wonderful brightness to it. Im not sure a Steinway would do the song justice. It amazes me that youre able to do all this from memory.
you did a really good job picking out the piano part at the beginning, especially by ear...i'm trying to learn this at the moment and its going really slow but i am getting there. What really winds me up tho is when you get comments like 'wrong note in the intro..' I always go to their channel and see what they've submitted and guess what...nothing. They cant play an instrument therefore they have no right to leave these unconstructive remarks. 5 stars for you.
wait, I have to add something... I just realized a few of the left hand chord voicings are different, also... you must have picked this all out by ear, excellent job...
that said, if you would slow down the intro a little, not rush through the ascending piano... let the emotion guide that part, you really rush through it like crazy, a lot of the feeling is lost...'
put it this way, it's not a test, you know what I mean?
... a few too many notes there on the turnaround in the piano intro... other than that, almost perfect... good job putting together the rest of the song
I'm very sorry, if I would've had the sheet I'd be happy to send it to you but I haven't. Just listen to it for about 25 years (like me) and you'll be able to play it :-).
Nice playing, but in my opinion the piano intro is too fast (btw nice technique), I think that in Genesis' music each note has to be thought before playing.
This is really awesome! Did you really play all the instruments yourself? This is perhaps the best Firth-performance, besides Genesis-performances of course, that could be found on the net. I'm certainly looking forward to viewing your version of part 2!
