@spacekip38 if so then that's not much.I'm not rly in triathlon(yet) but if she runs with a pace like that then her marathon time(yes im aware that she runs after swiming n cycling) is about 3.30? That's quite slow.No offense maybe i just don't know how much 3.8km of swimming n 180km of cycling tires u up.
I know marathons are run in like 2h15min, but just like you say, the cycling and swimming really tires you up. don't forget, you're out there for over 9 hours!
chrissie's record was 8h53min, lets say 9h average for a top athlete. swimming takes little less than 1h, that leaves 8h for cycling and swimming. cycling can be done at a pace of about 38-40 km/h as a trained athlete (over 180km) so that's about 4.5h. then they still got 3.5h for the marathon.
@spacekip38 Chrissie Wellington ran in fact about 2h57 marathon in the final of Ironman in Hawaii (so around 15 km/h), taking into account the extreme heat and the fact that she was alone on the front for several hours...In the Roth Ironman, she ran an incredible 2h48'54. It's always amazing because she doesn't have a really impressive running style, but it's terrifically efficient! On marathon alone, I think she can run something like 2h40. By the way her new record on Ironman is 8h33.
@Sylw3g until you do your first IM, I wouldn't speculate in the slightest on what you think is "fast" or "slow" or how much you think one of the three legs of the race will or should pre-exhaust someone... I do approximately 3 IM's per year and she is one of the best athletes (including the men's pro field) I have ever seen compete. Btw, can you even run a sub 3 hour marathon alone? I doubt it.
@paristrader wow... hold the horses out there... Did i insult Chrissie somewhere? Am i saying that I'm the best runner/triathlete? You're overreacting.I know who she is,and what she can do.If you're so curious then my personal best for a marathon is 3.31.01.I'm no pro, just having fun with sports as a hobby. That's why i posted the post to which u replied - curiosity. At the time of posting my 1st post(3months ago?) i was begining my adventure with triathlons...
i wonder what was the pace at that moment

A bit provocating to say well done when there is 7.2 km to go :)
