  • how to make an icing sugar christmas tree

  • Thanks, this video was very helpful. I'm making a cake for my son's weddidng and I wanted to do something a little different. The bow added to the top of the side cakes made it look very special. Be Blessed and thanks for sharing.

  • the hearts in the bow look terrible...

  • ROFL!!!!!!!! =D Something fell off of the bow or the cake at 1:10!!!!!

  • @Glambert12982 that was the corner of the bow she cut off, when she lifted it up it was still attached and then fell off.

  • Anybody watching this, it's best to let your bow set up overnight. The fondant is way too pliable to try to make a bow. It's going to collapse.

  • bravissima by italia

  • @Kacininta14 lol congrats =D

  • that looks nice. but the fondant doesn't look hard enough

  • Me sirvió de mucho ..graxiassssssss

  • hey! check out my cake decorating channel for how to's and reviews! :D

  • :D

  • is it easy to cut the fondant covered cake on the next day or you should decorate it on the same day you're going to cut it?

  • @mecz1985 it's fine to cut the next day or a few days after, it will harden a little bit, but not too much

  • good job im defenatly using your tips on baking bows=)

  • she has a new york accent

  • crazy marry chirmas is out fags

  • beautiful cake,,,great job!

  • it would look so much better of ou didn't ruin it by that odd looking center.

  • @ballerinarachet11 i was thinking the same.. a heart in the middle made to look like a button would look better

  • Not trying to be mean, but, I think it is unsanitary knowing how many times the cake sugar bow is handled and touched during the production of these cakes, and to add to it, when someone talks while working right over it, creating great chances of unintended human spat conatmination on the icing. yuk

  • howdini is better.

  • you are you facke

  • you say you guys are experts that fondant cke looks like you bearly learnd how to do it

  • Should've done the center of the bow with something smaller, maybe a circular button, entirely white

  • @Rosalila i think they had too many ribbons on there anyway..

  • Sei bravissima complimenti davvero proverò a farmi una torta cosi per il mio compleanno grazie per tutti i consigli, anche se sono italiana e non capisco perfettamente l'inglese

  • Its ugly

  • is the yellow bow frosting?

  • That bow is hideous.

Don't use water either. Use alcohol or an extract (vanilla, lemon, etc.) to attach fondant to fondant - water takes too long to dry and can make the fondant "mushy". Alcohol helps it stick better and dries faster.

  • hmmmmm so sweet, I love it and am going to give it a try!

  • ok, how you eat that?

  • I just went to another video that showed how to cover a square cake in fondant in 2:00 mins while I spent 15 here. Great job.

  • After it's finished would it be wise to put in the fridge?

  • @SuperSylvia7 yess

  • you cant barely see what shes doing because the words are in the way

  • @rhythmichouston so turn of the captions using the "cc" button

  • lovely!

  • the amount of unnecessary information is ridiculous compared to the lack of necessary information given in this video

  • @g95td2000 You see how the bow isn't staying in place as she puts it on the cake? The fondant is so soft that it wont hold she shape of a bow. It needed to be allowed to sit AT LEAST for a few hours so that it wont collapse like that.

  • Thanks !

  • Can you use gumpaste?? Btw I would have left out the center :|

  • good workbut i think you added too many hearts

  • I think this cake is like impressionism. It might look good from afar but up close its very sloppy work. I dont want to be mean. This too I think when judging my work. Thanks though.

  • @Nausicca3000 LOL maybe because you're good at cake decorating. but for someone like me who just eats cakes, it looks really good haha!

  • the... FUN.. DONT

  • Ok it was just ok u should of took a little more time and efort on tha bow though

  • ????? they dont use water in cake boss and i watch it like every night.......and you are suppose to cut the little square in the center where the ribbons you wrap around the cake meet so there isnt a bump

  • @webkinzluvr4life i hate cake boss...ace of cakes is so much better..

  • @swick6 OMG THANK YOU ! Everyone is in love with cake boss, but Duff was WAY before him and he is SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME ! Agh makes me angry that cake boss gets a shit load of credit.

  • @swick6 so true...!!

  • great

  • whats the bow made of?

  • @matthew1waters Its made of fondant I am not sure how to make it or if you can make it, but on some cakes it takes the place of iceing.

  • @matthew1waters It's made of Fondant :)

  • @matthew1waters fondant

  • nice!

  • Beautiful!!

    check out my cakes :)

  • thats a beautiful cake ;P gr8 job!

  • i like her she teach me everything

  • How do you cut a cake like that? Can you cut it?

  • that was excellent im barely going to cake decorating school so exciting

  • @TheMorenita2010 Lucky! I have been wanting to be a cake baker for 4 years now, and I can't wait for college! <3 Good Luck! :)

  • i wana eat that cake XDD

  • when you stack the cakes do you need to use stands or a frosting between layers

  • it depends on how thick your layers are, if it's just a 4-5 inch cake it'll be alright but if it's much taller than that you should put something under each layer with supports on the bottom.

it'll taste better if you put icing between the layers.

  • This is so nice, thank you for making such a wonderful video. Decorating the gift is soooo important.

  • that looks like shit, the parts to the bow have sagged should have left them overnight to harden and these videos suck.

  • That fondant is NOT set up enough to make a bow. Not even close.

  • @Corinababy14 yea lol unless ur goin for a flattened bow look

  • @Corinababy14 what do you mean

  • @Corinababy14 You're right. That bow would not even last an hour without withering.

  • @Corinababy14 Sure it does: Like a "christmas bow" you know those little Cabbagey, flowerey Christmassy thingys?

  • @Corinababy14 it doesnt matter how set up it is the first fondent bow i made my sisters were putting the loops on the cake as i was making them and we ended up shoving marshmallows in the loops

  • @Corinababy14 How do you know when it is full set up?

  • you can buy ready to roll fondant from micheals

  • oh................. food coloring

  • She said not to leave the fondant overnight because it would completely dry and you'd be unable to use it.

  • @rpb86 you could still use it if it's dry, you just won't be able to move it as much

  • nice but thanks for showing us how to make the cake! :-

  • i think that cake looks amazing but i thinkthe bow wouls look better without the white love hearts its to much going on but great vid anyways :) <3

  • what's fondant? is that available in England? can i just use icing?

  • fondant is a sugary but pliable dough like substance. They shape and form it like play-dough to cover cakes to make them look smooth, and to decorate them.

It's mostly just icing sugar and corn syrup. You can easily make it yourself. There are tons of recipes, you can also make it with marshmellows and icing sugar.

  • Fondant is just basically a sugar dough. I myself make it homemade but you can buy it from the store. The easiest recipe I have found for it calls for 1 bag of minimarshmellows and 1 box of confectioners sugar. Making it from scratch is a very tedious and messy job, but worth it in the end in my opinion

  • Fondant is rolled sugar. It is probably available in England, you can most likely order it online. But I find it easier to make it. Marshmallow fondant is very easy to make and I'm sure if you do research online you can find a recipe. The thing is with icing is that it wont have the round outer edge of the bow. So, to make the bow you would need fondant because its sturdier.

  • yeah you can get pre-made roll out icing from shops like sainsburies, or cake shops, mould it a little with your hands before rolling just to make it easier to work with

  • like sugar dough. i guess they use it on alot of cakes to make it look smooth. idk if its avalible in england

  • you make it yourself, or u can buy it....but in my opinion it taste better wen you make it your self

  • teqnique was great but he cake looked hideous... the fondant must have peeled right off wen she cut the cake and the bow was really uglii...... no offense but my cake looked better

  • well So you dont have the problem of the fondant peeling off whn you cut a pice Just Simply Put a thin layer of icing on the cake [bread] and when your all done putting a coat of icing on it simply drape the fondant over the pice of bread and it sticks !!

  • omg so beautiful! ;D

  • they are beautiful and pls i want to learn how to decorate cakes from fondant to royal icing and butter icing

  • Instead of water I would recomend using an edible glue for sticking the fondant (in england we just call it icing :D) You can get them from most cake decorating web sites or stores :-)

  • Is fondant easily cutable when it's dry, or does it get too hard?

  • MAN HOW DO U DO THAT?

  • See the idea of the cake is great but I think the technique succs. I don't know maybe she was nervous and couldn't concentrate. But I know one thing this cake looks like when you cut the first slice, the fondant will just peel away

  • im 11 years old and i did this for my fith grade how to projects and mine turned out great but instead of a bow i did a ribbon and to me its alot easier

  • dont be a prat leave the kid alone - for christ sakes shes only making a cake shes not doing porn - you prat

  • aww that's so cute

  • Very american ... LOL

  • how long should you let the pieces dry?

  • 40 years.

  • she says fondant weird

  • omg amazing bow i want to try this

  • pretty =)

  • i wanna make one now =)

  • what is the name of the song?

  • I really like how you did this. I think it is amazing craftsmanship! NICE JOB! :)... I hope that this will be as easy for me if I ever try to do this.

  • i think the hearts on the yellow "ribbon" kind of ruin it.

    STILL GOOD THOUGH(:

  • i dont know if fondant in the u.s is very different but the fondant i use tastes amazing!!! (from australia)

  • fondant tastes like sugary play dough in the US. But I have heard that other countries use marzipan--an icing medium that looks similar but tastes totally different than fondant. I'd love to find a fondant that tastes delicious.

  • there is a cake decorator website called cakecentral and they have a recipe called michele fosters fondant. I made it and it was so easy and delicious. you can add any flavor to it that you want, but I just used vanilla. it was kind of like eating the marshmallow circus peanut candy.

  • Very neat of you share that. Thank you!

  • @Treasures4Food

    GOOGLE up "Marshmallow Fondant".

Easy to make and the ingredients are easy and inexpensive to find.

  • and corn syrup works better than water if you want it to stick

  • does fondant taste good?

  • No, it doesn't taste very good. It has a bland taste. It's mostly for decoration.

  • but does it taste good like is it true that people eat around it?

  • Well I eat around it...I don't know about other people.

  • so why cover the cake in it? does it taste better if you flavor it?

  • Fondant makes the cake have a smoother and seamless finish than just frosting a cake with butter cream. I don't know about flavoring it..I'm sure it's already flavored with vanilla?

  • The ones I've tried taste just like sugar... because it's just sugar with corn syrup. Maybe adding some vanilla flavoring would be a good idea... but they should add just the clear type in order not to ruin the color.

Anyway... if you don't like the fondant, put it away, it's main task is to decorate the cake.

  • plus the cake keeps longer when covered in fondant and it wont dent as easily.

  • i like the taste. but im not a huge frosting person

  • I think it depends on what type it is, really. It's just too thick & sugary to have too much of it

  • You can always make marshmellow fondant if the gumpaste tastes bad to you. Personally, I like the taste but yeah.

  • The result is amazing~

Wished that someone made a cake like this for me on my birthday soon...

  • well if let the pieces of the bow dry over night they will look better dork!!!

  • This is going to be my first fondant cake I'll make. Looks pretty simple.

  • great demo, thanks for sharing!

  • This is NOT a fail. I have seen cakes that are better made, but if I had made that cake I would be monumentally proud. People on the internet are so quick to judge, especially when I doubt you could do better.

  • Umm do you just leave the peices there or do you press them down or what?

  • Great video

  • You'd feel kinda guilty eating it.

    xD

  • tell me about it!

i keep wondering... does fondant actually taste good? or is it just a relatively kind of paste that's just really sugary?

  • A lot of fondant recipes I've tasted were horrible. I found a Marshmallow Fondant recipe that tastes AMAZING! I've been getting into making fondant cakes and everyone loves it. Google "Marshmallow Fondant Recipe" and click on the "Fondant 101" link. It's basically marshmallows and powder sugar. Easy to work with and tastes amazing! Definitely makes any fondant cake 10 times better.

  • con que lo pega?

  • con agua

  • En serio? Gracias!!

  • si, pero dicen que el agua deja manchas feas, es mejor usar un alcohol puro porque éste va a vaporar

  • alcohol no, mejor clara de huevo, no deja mancha y pega excelente! Pero solo un poco.

  • HEHE DA CAkE L00kS G00D :]

  • i agree this cake is a fail...looks more like an amateur who made it rather then an expert...the cake just wasn't executed well.

  • yeah but its still pretty cute. not quite a fail, but definately doesn't look made by a professional.

  • cute

  • your cake is a fail

    FUN DANT

if i had to listen to one more hi i am karen for expert village i will punch a baby in the face

  • So if this clip is playing, we better keep you a safe distance from any nursery or daycare huh?

  • lmfao, forreal dude

  • :(............................

  • ur cake is beautiful its great fr likea small get together or good fr somethin simple like a small surprise party at ur job its so easy to make but if i were to make it it would all be one sheet of fondant not seperate sheets

  • Thank you very much for the video, the cake was beautiful. I was wondering if you help me as to how assemble a bow such as this one.

  • OMG thats nice teach me how to makee itt

  • i love fondant

it probably doesnt taste as good as icing but it looks really fun to play with

  • Neat!

  • wow! nice job, it looks great! thanks for posting it, it helped me a ton :)

  • Looks good. My cake instructor told us if we wanted to make the bow look more perky we could add a pieces of papertowls in the bow loops. Then let it dry over night and take the paper out and then it is nice and perky. Works great!!!
