  • @GREGOARIUS yeah, but Donna's prettier

  • @ahfaxthis meant to say and she has spoken out and that and says she would never think that way and some of her closest friends are gay. I've met her a dozen times with friends and she's been nothing but sweet! She's amazing!!!!!!

  • @ahfaxthis Donna does NOT hate gay people!!! That's a visions rumor that started in 1982. It's a lie, trust me! Read up on that rumor. She has done numerous aids benefits since then AND SG

  • This is a horrible sappy song but she can f**** sing.

  • i heard she hates gay people. DANG.

  • youtube -> yves paquet - Mcarthur park

  • All versions of this song are awesome. This is an awesome song.

  • Donna is a Goddess!

  • effortless..dayummm...

  • I prefer the Richard Harris version. His voice is just magnificent.

  • all hail the queen!

  • Those were the days.. even in the most remote area in Jamaica there was a disco bar pumping Donna Summers music..She made this song popular and we all loved it. She was the disco queen.

  • whoooooo! love you donna!

  • One of the greatest voices of all time. She hits the notes strong and with a sophistication all her own and sweet sounding, then tears it up!

  • what a beauty...damn.

  • Donna is truly the Disco Queen. She looks like doll, and still has that look today, such a fresh face. Although, some people don't like disco, I think it was a great music for a great era, that brought all types of people together to dance and just enjoy life. I miss that most of all. Long live the memory of disco and its queen.

  • I saw her live yrs ago... in Farmingville long island

  • i loved her , love her and will always love her !! I love you Donna Summer there will never be another one like you .

  • Donna Summer is a great artist and I had a crush on her at the age of 12. Still do.

  • 10 people are schmucks

  • This song best depict ``The Ballet Dancers`of Sutton, Qc

    Thank you Donna Summer.

  • So is this song like a parody of something? the lyrics are hilarious when matched with the intensity and passion of her singing.

  • @clumpft It's supposed to be a sad love song. The cake is an (admittedly strange) metaphor for the relationship/love/good times that the singer had with his/her love, which they have lost and will never be able to get back.

You might check out the Richard Harris version of the song, too, if you want a slightly different perspective. Personally, I think he captures the intended mood of the song better.

  • I think there is a renaissance of Donna Summer occurring. All of you new fans, imagine what it was to hear her when we were teenagers! Some of us still have her albums. Welcome to the voice of one of the best singers the world has ever seen.

  • I just heard this song for the first time... can't get enough, it's amazing!

  • Her voice is so pure, she's the best

  • What cake? what park? green icing recipe? who me what? Im really confused arnt I help please somebody Im melting!!

  • What cake? what park? green icing recipe? who me what? Im really confused arnt I help please !!!

  • she must have the whitest teeth on earth

  • she could sing about the telly tubbies for all I care - just enjoy the song for the musicality and Best female voice this side of the black stump !

  • Worst song ever!

  • @wheecar - piss off and don't listen to it then

  • I love this song... just for the line "Someone left my cake out in the rain..." ^_^

  • This is just a weird song. I don't even know what's happening

  • JIMMY WEBB

  • This teaches everyone to take better care of their cakes!

  • My Good she beautyfull

  • I think of the cake so much or to much---I just don;t know -if it is the cake or the thought of it melting in the rain or --oh -I just can't take it ......someone left my cake out in the rain..

  • what a voice!

  • This song was amazeing

  • I still remember when this song was near the top of Billboard's HOT 100 charts in the fall of 1978 I was 15 years old and my voice was changing to my eventual male adult baritone that I have -- but I could reach at the time the soprano range that Donna Summer reaches in this song and many times I would start singing "MacArthur Park" like Donna does in this performance just to see if my voice was getting that baritone.

  • diosa total!!!!

  • Um, brkidwn, real singers don't need backup dancers or the band. It is Donna Summer. How old are you 15? You probably don't even remember when people really sang and didn't autotune.

  • @blinkbunnyLP this is a concert, which i'm sure was large.. though, this looks like a one time appearance, vegas stage, or kareoke

  • how boring the stage is.. where's her band and backup singers? poorly orchestrated.

  • CLASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is totally awsome...

  • Great live performance, Her high notes are so pretty.

  • Best disco song ever.

  • you got no pancake mix

  • Kelly Rowland looks like her in this video.

  • FABULOUS!!!

  • i love her, love the song, her voice is awesome but she is a bad performer. I dont believe any of what she says to the audience and it looks like the lyrics dont mean nothing to her.

I saw her live twice because i really love her music but both shows were lacking of energy and passion.

Sorry Donna .but i still love you

  • @Julesbekhor11 I agree with you I love Donna and this is my fav tune by her.

However she would absolutely benefit from a stylist and a choreographer.

I have friends that do drag and would out style her. that look on this clip is like very very bad tranny. this is Donna Summer and she deserves much much better. I love you Donna! Sing Mami!

  • @soymiguelalejandro23 yeah, too bad she never thought to have a choreographer to make her appearances look more together.. she must have been too self centered to be bothered. she's a star, DIVA, and why should she have to move and sing.. LOL

  • @brkitdwn i am all for polished performances and choreographers, but if i was a singer (of Donna Summers stature) the last thing i would want to worry about is my dance moves, i would rather focus more on my singing and vocal performance..it must be stressful enough just singing onstage and remembering the lyrics let alone making sure i get my dance moves correct, thought i do understand what you guys are saying..

  • I wasn't aware she had sang a version... i remember my Mom playing this song alot growing up... Though i swear the version I grew up with was a duet with waylon jennings and ... haunting and true...

  • If anyone actually knows the meaning of this song I would love for someone to reply to me.... I think I'm missing something with this cake thing...Still a very cool song.

  • @furtergirl2 The cake represents a love she lost or ruined. She fears she will never love again.

  • @squarezville Thank you! :) lol it sounds like an inside joke. When my mother was young she considered the lyrics to this song a great mystery so I told her I'd find the meaning.... obviously I'm not the best with metaphors....

  • THis is Donna in her prime in 1983.

  • Amazing woman.

  • donna rules

  • She's one the best singer of all time

  • In this video dona summer is hot and gorgeous

  • holy crap, this woman is gorgeous

  • Comment removed

  • No, it's a metaphor for a failed relationship. It was written by Jimmy Webb during an era (1960's) when surrealistic lyrics were the order of the day

  • She doesnt dance much on stage. I notice in all of her stage performances she is as still as a stunned mullet. Get dancing disco lady!!!

  • @EddieAlda she has so much singing talent she does not need to dance she captures you with her voice and her facial expressions.

That is part of her appeal

  • @delirous8 i dont think so ...

  • The song is about life. Someone thought they had all the answers to life and they found out they didn't and they are now forever seraching for Pandora's Box.

  • My favorite DS track is the "promotional single" of this song which includes additional lyrics. If you like this song, you will love this other version. No question it is the best!!!

  • i am in love with her voice enough said . .

  • This f*cking great song is one of my favorites by her.

  • @SuperstarX -- This song is not by her... It is a remake.. Remakes suck!! Write your own music!

  • @slinkeey Its called a cover, and if you don't understand that tradition, and its place in music - well, your loss I guess.

  • @caleb462 I know it is called a cover... I was correcting the goof that called it *her* song.

  • She is so awsome ..........

  • YetAnotherProg - You are so so right - thank you for telling me about that version, its beautiful. I am in Bulgaria and was trying to find Richard Harriis's version but it is "banned" here - so I am grateful to you.

  • This is from Donna's concert "A Warm Summer's Night". It's rare but it's available. I have it.

  • its not 'A Warm Summer's Night' its from

"A Hot Summer Night With Donna" i still

have it on video cassette!-lol! it came out

    in 1983

  • I think this performance was from a special that was shown on HBO in the 80's. Does anyone know if this special is available for purchase?

  • love the song

  • You should hear the Beggars Opera version from 1972 or something. It's ten times more awesome.

  • lol so this is what Weird AL spoofed. (Jurassic park)

  • mmmmmmm..... cake!

  • Was she high on something? She looked like it

  • one of her best shows ever!

  • The queen of disco.

  • the song is about cake???? It's still good though

  • lmao

  • well, it's not actually about cake. it's a metaphore.

  • wat is it reli about?

  • its about breakup. cake is love, rain is tears. the recipe she'll never have again means it'll never be the same again.

  • oh okies thnx i understand it now :)

  • Exactly Ig!

  • dude look like a lady.but he sings really good

  • omg this was in Costa Mesa!

  • Enormously talented and extremely beautiful, what a performer

  • The Most Beautiful Sexiest woman in the World with a voice that will knock you into the next world. It really would have been something if The Pointer Sisters backed her up. Oh Gawd that would have been Heaven.

  • If I ever find out who left her cake out in the rain...

    they're in big trouble.

  • SHE STILL HAVE THAT VOICE THAT MAKE ME dd

  • One the best female voice of the world

  • Yes, it's called Donna Summer "A Hot Summer Night" 1982/1983 and it's awesome rich vibrant live Concert footage of the legendary Disco Diva DONNA SUMMER. I love it: all her hit songs from "On the Radio, Last Dance, Bad Girls, MacArthur Park, etc.,." was vividly performed. Great song, MacArthur Park it's one of my favorites performed by the legendary Disco Diva Donna Summer. Thanks!

  • She was gorgeous!!!!!!! Singing this about a step lower, she still sounds fabulous!
