The best bit of Canada being a Monarchy is the total political independence of the head of state, and that another country pays for them! Who could ask for a better system? Canada is indeed the lucky country.
@Kookas Not for nothing, but this is far from a democratic world. The UK is a constitutional monarchy, as is Canada, and most "democracies" you might be thinking of are in fact republics, like the U.S. and France. The only country in the world that is a true democracy is Switzerland and it didn't allow women suffrage until the 1970s. The British Monarchy generates billions more than the tens of millions it takes, but again, you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how idiotic or uninformed.
@Kookas Your clearly not very informed about things like this are you. The old argument about not being voted doesnt mean it isnt democratic, its not like its the royal family from a 1000 years ago and they go around killing people. Your making things out to be something its not.
@oldirishladdie Really? I live in Canada, and over 100,000 people were waiting to see the Queen in Ottawa (not to mention over 25,000 people more who were waiting for her carriage). Also, more than 40,000 people in Toronto when the temp. was over 45C. And over 50,000 people in the midst of heat wave in Winnipeg.
Why doesn't the US just annex Canada cos to be honest they are the same people, even the police look the same.
