Please restore it, but if theres anything I would love more than that, it would be to be able to all around and explore it the way it is right now. I would give just about anything to see it for myself right now.
Ow how I love darrell when my mom was dieing in galveston he flew my grandma down there 1 week before she died and I am so grateful for him if u r reading this darrlell u r amazing man from Shantel Bennett and Jodie Zuber
I was born in Mineral Wells around the time Fort Walters and the Baker closed their doors. I grew up always hearing about the glory of the town, but watching it slowly fade away over the years. When they say the Baker is the heart of the town, that is true in so many ways. It means so much to so many people who grew up in this area. Bring the hotel back, bring the jobs back, bring Mineral Wells back.
I live here now and after watching the video it has renewed my hope of it opening. I am almost 66 years old and do wish it would happen before I pass away. I worked at the Beauty Salon in 1962 and was always mystified at it's elegance. Charlsie Blocker
i would be willing to move from alabama to work there using my 20 years of hotel managment and knowing just about all the hotels history. knowing jane cattric a friend who used to work there
when i was a young boy scout we drove through mineral wells, i looked out the car window at this massive building and thought it was the coolest thing i'd ever seen, straight out of the twilight zone's tower of terror......hope to go back some day and check it out, and that would be pretty neat if it were restored
Kudos! It was great to see Earl, Rual and Coach Holliman, but that was really just a bonus. This video got your message across loud and clear--you bring back the Baker and you bring back the town. And I can see where this could happen. I hope it will happen. I grew up in MW when it was a vibrant place. Now it is a ghost town--has been for a while. It needs some life. Again, I hope it happens.
@tull1973 ETA: I remember when the Baker was open--eating at the coffee shop, hanging out at the pool during the summer. The hotel lobby was just beautiful. It was a great place. I can't wait to see what they do with the pool area!
Is it worth it bringing back the baker? It close down before in the past. What makes these people think it wont close down again? Maybe this funding should go to a cancer research center or finding a cure for AIDS.
@dudemw940 There has been millions funded into cancer and probably as much for AIDS and there has been no cure yet. At least the hotel would bring some prosperity to the town. I'd be willing to go visit if they got it restored.
I have been lucky enough to walk up the steps of the Baker and take in the beauty of this building . I was in awe , and I am so very excited about this project.
This is so amazing, I can't wait to see the Baker up and running, it's such a beautiful building as is, its going to be breathtaking after it's renovated.
As much as I agree with what the folks in this doc has said, I really hope they aren't planning on using State Funds or even worse; Federal Funds to pay for a renovaion.
This is a Powerful video and stirs my soul. Thank you to Kevin Pruitt and all those associated with this project.
Please forward this video to everyone of your contacts, regardless of where they live. Let's get behind the Baker and restore Mineral Wells to it's rightful place, as a growing and thriving community.

this is a great video. It shows the importance the Baker Hotel held and it shows how much it has faded. Baker needs to be restored!
