  • if you observe, the broadhead diam is bigger so, is normal to penetrate the target and to not stop in . i salut you from romania

  • I like your shirt

  • do the victory vap fit in the mathews t3, t5, t7

    quiver

  • Pretty interesting test. I'm wondering if the plywood is the best testing material however, as portions of the ply can be very inconsistent, including internal knots or gaps. Probably something like MDF would be better.

  • u shoulod do a comparison with easton fmjs beman mfx or axis ( same arrow ) and vaps

  • @benhamlett I agree. I'd like to see a comparison easpecially with the Easton Axis because they do weigh more. Thanks for the videos Ike!

  • @TheNordicHunter

From a physics standpoint you are correct in saying if the fieldpoint of the arrow is larger than the shaft, after the initial hole has been opened from the tip the remainder of the arrow will fly without any friction and/or resistance thru the target. For accurate results field tips the same size as the shaft or smaller would have to be used. Although I feel here is chance for additional variables in the test using a sheet of wood. Time for ballistics gel Ike! =D

  • are you going to use the victory vap arrows for hunting? if so would you be confident enough to shoot an elk with one out of a 70 pound bow with a cut on contact broadhead?

  • @BowtechFreak I am. I killed a big Russian boar with them this spring. After the performance i got on the hog with them I would not be afraid to shoot any animal with them in combo with a good cut on contact head.

  • hey ike are you gonna a broad head test particularilly the standard muzzy and the red feather archery

  • @kylejc21 Maybe on the muzzy definitely on the RFA head

  • whenever you are talking about your arrow weight are you talking about the arrow weight w/ or w/o the tip on it?

  • @world74pker with the fp

  • Everyone tells me that I have to have a heavy arrow to get a lot of KE in order to penetrate a hogs shield. With the VAP that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, does it? I'm currently shooting the Invasion at 55lbs with a 345 grain Beman Speed arrow at a 27in draw. If I choose to go with the VAP, I could even go lighter to get more speed. What do you think?

  • @TheNordicHunter check out my hog hunt video. I shot clean through a 230lb boar with a VAP. Of course my invasion was set at 70lbs but the arrow was the same weight as I used in this test. I believe it was around 360 grains. The light weight Speed Pro arrows also got better penetration than the heavier ones so weight is not everything but I agree with most that it is important at longer range which is why I try to stay at the 360-380 range. Still light but it still seems to performs well

  • @ikesoutdoors At what distance were you shooting these arrows into the wood? It would be interesting to shoot at a longer real world hunting distance and into one of those solid brown foam squares and then put tape on the arrows when pulling them out and measure the depth of penetration. I've seen the VAP's before and would think that since the tip is wider than the shaft, once the tip punches the hole into the wood, the rest of it just takes a joy ride through with out any pressure on it.

  • @TheNordicHunter I shot these from 20 yards.

  • @TheNordicHunter Of course that is the weight I use at 70lbs. I could go lighter if I was shooting lower poundage.
