  • You know, I think rock and roll history has given Gary Lewis less than his due. Despite startng from his father's long shadow, he made himself a genuine star and composer. This is a great song and, despite the (obviously fake) pantomime, a decent video.

  • @Tours1010732 I agree...though if memory serves I don't think Gary wrote most of his hits...still they were for the most part listenable at the least, and some were superlative

  • 1 stupid kids click dislike

  • my parents were around in the 60's and they never saw a scopitone video jukebox anywhere.where would you find one of these things to play a video?

  • Who is that hot brunette in blue? Im glad I finally found this!

  • @WhalesRBoss Wish I knew...amazin', ain't she...

  • @thecountofbasie oh yes....

  • im looking for long time ^^

  • So surf music...I'm glad I was much too young to have THAT hair style.

  • delightful sweet sixties.... we will never forget this era ans its lovely songs.

  • When Black Sabbath first formed, they had an accordianist. But he didn't seem to fit so they booted his ass out of the band. True story.

  • I too would like to know where this was filmed. The girls look cold, like it was a brisk day. The style of the girl's bathing suits are much like the suits used in the dancing QT Coppertone Quick Tan product commercial. Also set at a marina sooo similiar to this one. Did Terri dance on Hullabaloo or Shindig as a regular ever?

  • "Weird" Al Yankovic inspired by this band with "hip" accordian playing. Parleyed that dream into record parody franchise. Wish I would have stuck with my tamborine lessons.

  • WELL....Look at the girl GO........

  • Teri Garr, Come on down to my boat baby, come on down where we can play. Swinging Medallions

  • @nergvol Thought that was Every Mother's Son...but who cares...I'll take Teri, that healthy brunette...ah the hell with it...give me all of them...:-))

  • @thecountofbasie You Sir are correct! Always got the bands mixed up, fun music in a more innocent time. Finally got sailboat but too old now for young dancing hardbodies. Keep dreaming of MaryAnn from Gilligan, why I'm not certain.

  • @thecountofbasie Yes it was Every Mothers Son, please people that was not a hard one, check your facts next time.

  • Thats NOT TERRI GARR......I REPEAT....NOT TERI GARR......( But not a bad lookin blonde....hubba..hubba)

  • Well...look at her GO!......

  • And remember guys, don't rock the the docks without your accordion.

  • @bzzzzap You know it. That's band member John West on the accordian, which is called a "Cordovox." That instrument was distributed by a Chicago company that also distributed the Farfisa organ. Carl Radle, later of Delaney & Bonnie, Joe Cocker, Derek And The Dominoes, & Eric Clapton's touring band is the blonde-haired fellow strumming the acoustic guitar, even though he was the bassist. Gary is playing a late model Hofner bass in this Scopitone clip. Not sure if the blonde dancing is Terri Garr.

  • @smas2653 farfisa organs were made in italy they had a huge factory i know a guy that went there ecko guitars were made in italy they were junk finger slicers

  • mistery sound!

  • @1:15 I don't care what anybody says, that is STILL a cool shirt! Plus...that is a rocking Hofner bass Gary's pretending to play...a step or two above that used by Paul.

  • @mikethekhotmailcom when it comes to playing bass (or faking it) Gary makes Stu Sutcliff look like Bill Wyman...:)

  • @thecountofbasie sounds like they are trying hard to sound like jan and dean

  • @spacepatrolman Could be since they were both on Liberty Records and used a lot of the same session players, usually Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew, Spectors bunch of merry marauders. A cool little gem nonetheless.

  • @rockola63 when they had a tv special gary took pains to point out that he switched from drums to guitar because they cant see him back there on the drums

  • excelente amigo

    saludos desde lima peru

  • Further... Kind of neat to see folks when they were just starting out and how they've evolved over the years! Sadly, quite a few from my youth are gone now-really makes me wish I'd paid more attention back then in the 50's/60's/early 70's. Like several of my fav authors... finally checked to see why no new books recently and... they've been dead for several years. Like, "How DARE they die? I haven't read all of their books I want to!" TG for YouTube!!!!!!!!!

  • I have to correct myself. It was from 1964. Just looked it up on my copy of Pajama Party. Teri Garr is in the pool scene dancing just to the right(stage left) of Annette Funicello. Not sure but think she was also in at least one other 'Beach" film but can't remember which one right now.

  • Thanks Shasta for the info...thought Pajama Party was '64 myself

  • No prob! There were a bunch of these flicks made within a small span. Judging by the actors/actresses in them, I suspect almost an overlap! Teri garr (and others) are kind of hard to spot when they use diff. names and their hair/faces/etc. change to change their 'look'. If I hadn't been a fan I would have missed her in the movie. I DID miss her in the Scopitone!!!

  • PBS just ran the uncut T.A.M.I Show...I hope all the stations pick up on it...still amazing...for the most part Teri is wearing a blouse with a target on it...I can't even remember Pajama Party, but I did spot Teri by perhaps the second viewing

  • Teri Garr was also a dancer in at least one of the 'Beach' movies. Believe it was Pajama Party, an AIP flick from the mid-60's(1966?).

  • Teri Garr is Great No Matter what She does!!

  • By the way, for those who read the entire comment string, I did check with members of her fan club, and the consensus is that the dark-haired girl is NOT Marj Dusay....quite attractive no matter who she is

  • Wow, cool video and hot girls.Must have been a hot day to for the band to change clothes three times in one song.

  • Yeah but if it was that hot, how come the girls are all wearing jackets (a shame that, really)...;)

  • Does anyone know where this Scop was filmed?

The only reason why I ask that is it looks like the exterior scenes, of the harbor, that were used after "Gilligan's Island" started broadcasting in color. (I'm half expecting in this vid. to suddenly see both the Skipper & Gilligan pop-up from one of the boats & it being the SS Minow! LOL!)

  • Carl Radle on guitar at right goes on to play bass on Layla(Derek and the Dominos).

  • Thanks for more interesting info...I had no idea this clip was going to generate so much

  • The girls are real cuties, especially the big healthy looking one in the brunette hair.

  • As lame as a lot of Scopitones admittedly are, the girls are great to watch...search for Bobby Vee's "Pretty Girls Everywhere" and Neil Sedaka's "Calendar Girl" for more...dang the '60s were fun...:)

  • Of course, that was suppose to be the appeal to men of the Scopitones back in the 1960's. This looks like it was made in 1968, shortly before Gary Lewis' stint in the army & also shortly before Teri Garr's appearance in the original "Star Trek" series episode, "Assignment Earth" (which was supposed to have been spin-off series of ST). Teri Garr would show up in 1985 in a vid. made of the Zombies' 1965 hit, "She's Not There" (I wish someone could find that vid. & post it on youtube).

  • Thanks for all that info...very interesting indeed...:)

  • You're welcome. I always was a fan of both Miss Garr, since her appearance on "Star Trek" & Gary Lewis since I can remember first hearing "This Diamond Ring" in the 1980's so this vid. is fun to watch for a fan of both.

  • Thanks...glad you enjoyed...have to admit it's IMO the second most underrated..."Without A Word Of Warning" may be my fave semi-hit of theirs

  • I'm under a different name, I have had time to reevaluate the time frame for the this Scop. I'm thinking it was from 1966, not 1968 (probably in the fall of 1966). Teri Garr looks slightly younger than she would in 1968 and that "Star Trek" ep. I do wonder though, and I wonder if anyone else who might have watched "Guiding Light" or "All My Children" over the last couple of years or "The Odd Couple" from the 70's & one of Felix' girlfriends or the "Star Trek" ep, "Spock's Brain" thinks the

  • one dancers (the dark brown haired one) who is the blue bathing suit at the beginning then changes into a pink one with a yellow nightgown thingy and sits in front of Gary Lewis & the Playboys to the right hand side bares a striking resemblance to Marj Dusay? One needs to check out the original "Star Trek" ep, "Spock's Brain" if that is our Marj (maybe someone should send Marj Dusay an e-mail and check if she remembers appearing in this Scop).

  • I really dig this song. This is the most underrated song they've recorded. it really sounds great.
