this album was terrible dont get me wrong i was wanting the band to switch it up a bit like a lot of people but.. this isnt what i wanted this album is just ful of poorly written songs w/ massive lack of composure wich disapoints me cuz i know maylene is totaly capable of writing well composed songs. the rest of the album doesnt live up to this song. i was hoping they would take southern metal even further, not step away from it. this album is bad like killswitch engages second self titled album

@ShortFatBoy There ya go, that's a much more educated answer! I can understand that since you only like the songs that a more heavy and southern. But I hope eventually in time you grow to like the other songs. Really listen to this album and forget bout I, II, and III. This album needs open ears to really enjoy it fully.

@Disturbedone1954 To get a sense of how good a band is, and what their style is like, you have to take ALL of their albums into account. I, II, and III were amazing in every sense of the word. Every song was well written and awesome. This is the only good song off of IV, and even it isn't as good as some of the other Maylene stuff. I'm very disappointed in this album, and this is not the direction they needed to go in. Their old sound was great, why fix it if it isnt broken?

@doomsoldier117 I have. All four albums are incredible, and IV is huge growth for this band. They aren't just playing the same songs under a different album, this one is different, every song sounds completely different, and it is structured perfectly. Does it have the best Maylene songs? No, I will argue their best songs are from I, II, and III, but this album has amazing songs, and is amazing. If you want old stuff, listen to it, other than that, they moved on so should you.

@ShortFatBoy Biased much? The album is not bad at all. It's different yes, but honestly that's a good thing. They did something new and different for them which is what all bands should be doing. Honestly if you expect every band to sound exactly the same for every album you're insane. People get old, talents evolve, interests change, no matter what bands are going to do something different. They don't suck, "fans" suck for not being tolerant to something new.

I absolutely love Maylene, but they keep going further and further from that bad ass southern feel they had in the first couple of albums. I hope the rest of the album is better!! Maybe if they actually kept people in the band they could get that sound back. Dallas' vocals are always on point though!!!

@DeeAarGee That's because Dallas is like the only member that is still from the original line up. It's no surprise the sound has went from a more metal sound to a hard rock. But regardless I still feel the Southerness.

@Disturbedone1954 I completely agree. Been listening since their self titled album. It's all great music. In my opinion they're one of the best southern [alternative] rock group that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Gusty Like The Wind was one of my favorite songs, II came out and I loved the whole album. If I had a favorite song it'd be The Day Hell Broke Loose At Sicard Hollow. But I love the whole thing equally. It tastes so good in my earmouths.
