  • Audrey's Dream almost became Audrey's Nightmare. Wonder if it has sold yet, asking price was in the $4 mil plus range last time I saw.

  • You must be going faster than he current in order to steer.

  • Don't worry, it's a Nordhavn!

  • Yacht? No. "Boat".

  • this almmost really sucked lol

  • 2 million!?!?! Try like $4,500,000...Used!

  • @oceaneagleable You can't even construct a sentence correctly in your native language, angry, senile dope. Further, you don't understand logic or debate, as proven by this post. What you just did is called both an ad hominem attack, and a distraction. You could not figure out how to factually reject what I said last (were you a "boating professional" you'd have known the CG warned to stay out, and violating that would NOT be "professional" conduct), so you resort to "yer dumm". Pathetic.

  • @oceaneagleable you are not being respectful, so no. A "professional" would not have tried to enter harbor when the CG was giving warnings not to. Further, a "professional" would know that had been the case, and wouldn't be arguing on that douchebag's behalf, making you either a senile jackass in need of meds, or a liar about your background. Either way, this did not end well for you. Had you basic intelligence, you would have seen this coming.

  • 2 million? try like 4... lol

  • @kenfo0 I just know more about these boats than many people here. And why don't you tell me what boat you own before you go making fun of mine. I dock twin diesel all the time, so I know that its not ALL luck that got him out safe. As for the other little boats there, the fuel in the tanks of the Nordhavn is worth more than any of the other boats, so they can quit bitching and grow some balls.

  • 2mill holyyyyy fuck. i was in hvar,Croatia and i saw a yacht twice as big as that and it had a speedbout pulled behind it...Some people are so lucky its unreal

  • Nordhavn 75 is much more than 2 million. You sit on the computer calling him stupid when you wouldn't even be able to maneuver it in dead calm conditions. You are one of the people who owns a shitty little fishing boat and calls himself a "boater". Prove yourself worthy of even seeing this beautiful yacht before you comment on the captain's skills.

  • @WIMEvideos STFU you stupid douchebag. Your rubber ducky doesn't qualify you as a "captain". This a-hole took a big chance not only with his own property, but that of many others for no reason. He was LUCKY, nothing else. Now zip it, retard.

  • LIKE A BAWS......that was intense.

  • @oceaneagleable you have alzheimer's. check into a facility.

  • How does this guy fit his huge balls in his pants.

  • Great control. All others are just arm chair wannabees

  • He had control at all times. Lol

  • Jeeeeeeze... Close call indeed! Great navigating goes out to the Skipper! Well done lol. I would have been talking to State Farm that evening if I was at the helm lol.

  • I'm on that boat bitch

  • SOOOOO antidramatic!!!

  • The boat is called "Audrey's Dream." The captain made the right decision to not push his luck. I know that this boat has large screws and big rudders that came in handy big time in this situation. I love that boat!

  • Put those CATS to work

  • Just a footnote: any fear or feeling of "loss of control" would be due to the fact that when if ever do you deal with unknowns of the size and length of a surge due to a tsunami?

  • I'm from CdM and just saw this boat pulling into Newport Harbor I saw the boat then fueling at Bisbees (for Cabo) and spoke to the Captain He said that this happened after 4 p.m. way after the estimated arrival of about 9:30 a.m. He said "Ive never been more scared" and he did not try to pull back into the harbor till after 6 a.m. the next morning. I was shaking as he told me the story. P.S. Very Nice Boat

  • Closer to $4.5 million - what a machine

  • Exceptional piece of handling by the skipper

  • this guy won harder then charlie sheen

  • Wow... how stupid to get near a narrow entrance like that during a tsunami warning... He got very lucky.

  • Excellent maneuvering Captain! I have been in a similar situation. Let's just say it took quite a few drinks to calm the shakes I had afterward. Mother nature can be bitchy. A fine testament to the power of a Nordhavn!

  • my boat is right across from this dream machine and i'm glad to see this video and how bitchen that boat actually is. i'm glad it almost wreaked.. so everyone else can feel like a looser like i do when i'm in it's presents.

  • Check the kayak at 0:46. He got in the way when the N75YF tried to reverse. Contrary to popular belief, the Captain made a fantastic and speedy recovery without running the kayak over in changing conditions. Full story and insider info at nordhavndreamers (use google).

  • to anyone talking shit. We were told we were told it was clear to come in and we we did this is what we ran into. Not many people could have pulled this off as well as the captain did. the current through the harbor was moving as fast as the boats top speed

  • I feel for all people, but face it someone who owns a 2 million dollar yacht can buy another one. Things don't matter, human beings are what matter.

  • Thats a quality boat. 7'6 draft, 300k lbs, Diesel Torque = #WINNER!!!!. 4th and inches though.. I'm pretty sure channel 16 on the VHF would have been filled with warnings and not saying "come on back.......burgers at the station....coast guard is bringin' the beer."

  • To the captain of Audrey's dream, my hats off to you for handling this vessel in some very challenging conditions.

Definitely a little pucker factor here, you handled this extremely well, kinda hard to determine when exactly this surge was going to hit. It's not like we get to practice a 3 ft tide swing in a 10 minute period all time..

For all you spectators, you have no idea......

  • From what i heard the captain was radioed that it was clear to come in after some boats had just made it in. The surge came up before before he was able to make it in. Get some info before you make your comments next time.

  • Was the Tsunami enough to float the SeaRay that was sitting on Doheny or was it already gone?

  • We - meaning myself and all the 100+ people watching this including most of Dana Point's commercial charters and fishermen were glad to see this boat make it out safe. The leason here should be listen to your radio and what is going on around you. Several other smaller boats attempted to enter the harbor and were told to turn around on the radio and over the PA system. There were several upset people including harbor officials and other boat owners when this happened.

  • @dschwartz1114 - I went to the harbor to talk to this captain. I have never seen a boat of that size maneuver so quickly. You have to understand , to make that boat of that size do that, he was using both engines , his bow thruster and full Rudders at the same time. Then gave it full starboard throttle for a second. Had he over throttled in those conditions, he would have had another problem. Thank God the guy was young and had good reaction times ,Etc. A fantastic job of helmsman ship !

  • Thank you everyone for your comments. I want to make something very clear here, as a boat owner, long time mariner and deep sea fisherman, this was a very unfortunate situation that happened here in Dana Point. This happened right in front of the Harbor Patrol House in the harbor. You can see the house in the background. These captians were well aware of the danger and ignored the warnings. The tsnunami did showed up late, however no one should underestimate the power nature has to offer.

  • @ds I must vigorously disagree. You may be trying to be diplomatic. I have no such speech impediment. It is "unfortunate" that you are born to idiots, or you get cancer, or that you get robbed. This was not "unfortunate" but AGGRESSIVELY STUPID. A lot of money, and no sense. One must wonder "how'd he earn the money to buy that boat while being such a stupid a-hole?". While I don't know him personally, I have met the type. I guarantee he saw this as something no one could have seen coming.

  • The 75' EYF Nordhavn Audrey's Dream is a 2009 and was made overseas like all Nordhavn's. She has several thousand miles under her keel and was likely taken out of the harbor due to the Tsunami. The video was her returning to her berth and the Tsunami showed up a tad late. Oh, BTW, she has TWO MOTORS ??Fisherman! Ha!

  • This is a great video, not so much for the boat footage but for the water movement footage. Just posted a video response -- the beach outside the harbor showed almost no change on the shoreline up and down the coast. We really expected to see 'something' on video on the beach... Agree with prior comments that this captain was just following orders... but thanks for the great vid

  • Not bad for California! compared to Deception Pass in Washington any day of the week.

  • My daughter and I were there for a few hours watching all of this and it was one of the craziest things we''ve ever seen. To watch a normally very still water come in and then be sucked back out was crazy! Even crazier watching people trying to manuever in waters like this; not good!

  • Not exactly colonelchi. All mariners were told to move their boats offshore 3 miles to prevent them from damaging the docks and habor when the water rushes in and out. You should know your maritime rules before making uneducated comments.

  • @dschwartz1114 We have a boat in Dana Point as well. However, I currently live in Los Angeles so I was unaware of what was being told to anyone within DP or any harbor for that day. I was unaware that Dana Point had such deep water so close to shore.

  • He's stupid for trying to get into a harbor during a tsunami warning? I'd say that would be a smart idea. Dock, get off his boat, and get inland.

  • @colonelchi Nah. It's actually better to be in water 400+ft deep. Currents are strong there, but the tsunami waves aren't breaking yet.

  • @WaywardElf I doubt the water off Dana Point is 400 ft deep.

  • @colonelchi No, probably not, but it's recommended that you move to deep, open ocean during a tsunami. Coming in during that time was a bad idea.

  • @colonelchi True, but we don't know the circumstances. The guy could've been running low on fuel. Or, since they build Nordhavens in Dana Point, it might not have been tested to go out that deep yet thus forcing it to stay within the harbor. But ultimately, yes, no boat should've been out that day.

  • @colonelchi Nordhavns are not built in Dana Point...

  • @tonyparkhurst10 No, they're not built there but they are fitted in the harbor. There are several always being furnished and finished in other ways on the dock at my parent's boat on any given day.

  • @colonelchi Actually the water is 1000+ feet deep just a couple miles out of Dana Point.
