  • i totally love the old walt disney... haha their music straight go to your heart and it really is better than the new one..

  • Good lord, this is a depressing song. A chimney sweep, a social untouchable with black lungs from breathing soot is lucky??? I think not. And no one shook hands with a chimney sweep.

  • @Maafa1619 life's what you make of it, some of the happiest people are in the poorest parts of the world. just because we aren't happy unless we push our minds too the sheer limits and shatter our dreams with stress doesn't mean he would be.

  • And then the chimney sweep ascended to godhood.

  • Wow! the band called plastic tree did a cover of the song. As if the song could get anymore wierd, Plastic tree made it super creepy and sad!

  • Vivecs favorite song.

  • So many memories with this song

  • this is my our gang song for scrooge cyt dever october 2011

  • @OLV16 I agree. Knowing about the awful life chimney sweeps actually had, I wonder if it's supposed to be sadly ironic. Mary Poppins is certainly a smart enough movie for it.

  • This was my favorite part of that whole movie. What a cool guy

  • He sings Flute not Flume... Or he's had to sing Flute...

  • @Atarilovesthenox He sings "A brush for the flu" not flute. DUH! lol no hard feelings buddy..........

  • @TheDJjohnnieD May i know why he needs a brush for flu? It's about chimneysweeps, so it's logical that it would be flume or flute. Duh! :')

  • @TheDJjohnnieD May i know why he needs a brush for flu? It's about chimneysweeps, so it's logical that it would be flume, fluE or flute. Duh! :')

  • Jonas Brothers, Hanna Montana, Demi Lovato, High School Musical......

..... if Walt Disney watched the Disney Channel right now, he would cry.

  • @MickeyBalboa86 Actually nobody knows what Walt would do. Did you happen to know Walt personally?

  • Dick Van Dyke has the most hilarious Cockney "accent"

  • they probably made it so low because the actor sounded better singing that way... ??

  • i love this song but 3/4 time songs are sooooo hard to dance to :) x

  • i love mary poppins

  • I think this song is the theme of the whole movie because it's saying that even a chimneysweep who has no money and is filthy still feels like the luckiest person on earth. It goes along with "a spoonfull of sugar" too because basically it's making the best of a bad situation. That's why its my favorite song. (:

  • this song begs people to tapdance to it.

  • This song use to make me cry when I'd watch the movie. o-o'

    . . . It's lyrics are happy, but the tune is so sad-feeling. . .

  • i looked up this song because during the summer i lived with my aunt and she made a cd with all the mary poppins songs and when we were in the car my two little boy cousins were like "i want the chim chimney song !" ohh i miss them so much but i love this song this was the favorite and some other one i dont know the name of but its something like mas chaos ?

  • Oh, I found a mistake in 1:18. It should be "...a brush for the flume" . :) But nice work. Thank you for this!

  • @m1jo Almost, it's "... a brush for the flue".

    :)

  • it is spelled floo not flume

  • everytime i hear this song it grapes my heart and plays strange games with it. And now i can sing this song^^ thanks AlexValve ^^

  • 21 people have some brain problems.

  • Awwww, Disney needs to start playing all the old Bambi, Ponocio, Mary Poppins and not all this Tinker Bell, High School Musical Crap.

  • I'm watching this clip today because I finished The World's Greatest Criminal Mind scene on The Great Mouse Detective.

  • Old Bert is so happy being a chimney sweep. I wonder what his mom thinks of this.

  • My most favorite song from the disney movie Mary Poppins.

  • if you're a child watching this movie you don't see the true meaning of it...

All you could say about it is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! :D

  • An excellent cleaning song!!

  • i love dick van dyke's horrible british accent...it's cute, though. I think if he did a good British accent it just wouldn't be the same.

  • I just saw Mary Poppins on Broadway yesterday :) Amazing.

  • oh my god this is great and i love this song very much. i still remember i watched this movie when i am 7 years old on tv and i ask my father to buy the video but my father refused to do so.Hence i never talk and eat for 3 days until my father buy the video.

  • A classic song!! I remember hearing this on LP back in the early 70's!!! Classic!!

  • This song deservedly won an Oscar for Best Song!

  • i love that song what happend to the old disney now its just crappy music like stuff from the jonas brothers and high school musical!!

  • @xoxGiNgA

    so true

  • or miley cyrus -.-

  • @xoxGiNgA jonas brothers and high school musical don't even count as music

  • @xoxGiNgA

  • I miss diseny from a long time ago

  • it's a good song i heard this song often in my childrens time

  • i love this part too

  • I absolutely love Dick Van Dyke. I'll be very sad when he's not with us anymore. My favorite part of this song starts at 1:38. I think it's beautiful. I miss this Disney.

  • thats my favourite bit too

  • despite the lyrics, i can't help but feel there's something really sad about this song.

  • That's pretty much what I was about to write

  • i think the song's played when the guy singing it disappears in the end

but it's long ago i saw it as a kid

  • @OLV16 i guess thats cause its written in minor .____. i feel that too xD always makes me very depressive ^^

  • @OLV16 It could be ironic. Like it's really not lucky.

  • @OLV16 Yeah - perhaps bittersweet. He's been handed a crap lot in life, yet has to keep his chin up - and so he does.

  • @OLV16 ...Personally, I love this song, and feel it is genuinely happy and upbeat!

  • @OLV16 maybe the minor tuning, or the fact he sings: A sweep is as lucky as lucky can be. How lucky could that be...

  • @OLV16 I agree. It's composed in a minor key: C minor. That might have something to do with it. It's a great song though.

  • @OLV16 ino. that bit wen dick sings

on the roof tops of london

coo, what a sight that. always liked that bit.

  • @OLV16 It's a man arguing, to children who were born into a position of privilege, that his life is positive regardless of the fact that he is at the bottom of society merely because of where he was born. And no matter how hard he argues this point, there is a sense of disappointment in both his voice and the song.

  • @OLV16 well i feel that bert(aka dick van dyke)is telling people that chiminy sweeps may seem gloomy but really aren't

  • well done :)

  • O.o

    lol

    XD

  • iim siingiing iit tuh lol

  • oh my goodness, dude i just though that same thing!

i was wondering how sick this song would be in the deep dive trailer... my goodness. i might just make an amv of that.

thank you for not reminding me that genius is not insanity!

  • i use to

    be afraid of

    this song

    when i was little!

    i dont know why!!
