  • if paradise has a band the singer is louis.

  • The only people who dislike this are deaf

  • I need to hurry up and move to New Orleans. I made it here to a job an hour away in Baton Rouge, but it's still not close enough. I need to feel the heartbeat of the city...

  • Louis Armstrong and the great musicians who played with him were class acts. Wish they all could be back today to play for those of us who love this music.

  • A classic tune performed by a true legend. I love his recordings from the 20's. They have so much character. Definitely look into those old recordings.

  • I love Danny Barcelona!

  • Nobody blows the horn like Satchmo.

  • The whole New Orleas was basin street now!

  • pops smoked weed every day of his adult life and made no bones about it. a luminous human being!

  • Man he could play the blues!

  • everything else just dissapears. and i dont even like jazz... but this... this is.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • His home town. Can't land there without going through him. He has pride of place there, no matter who your are in NOLA, he's just it. Period.

  • grosso !

  • so this is what god sounds like. interesting.

  • perfeito

    grandioso classico

    emocionante

  • JUST AMAZING. POPS WAS HONESTLY ONE OF THE GREATEST

  • He did for Jazz music what Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson did for Tap Dance. A genius musician. A pioneer and cultivator of an art form. A unique onstage personality of rare charisma, synonymous with all the best that America had to offer in the 20th century. Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong was all that and more.

  • What album is this?

  • i wonder, what kinda dumbfuck one has to be to "dislike" this video? :D :D

  • I danced with him when I was a young girl at Disneyland. A special memory.

  • You Can never beat that.Louis Armstrong is a Giant of Jazz

  • Timeless....remarkably classic and timeless.

  • A los 18 que no les ha gustado, ¿por qué?...., hasta el momento, si Louis es un genios...!

  • Makes me want to cry - so brilliant

  • Trumpet GOD

  • Just his break alone at :40 sums up the artistry of Louis - saying so much in so few notes. No wonder he is thought of as the Shakespeare of music!

  • After searching and taste hundred version of Basin Street Blues when I'm first watching this, now I have return. And it's still the best version of all time :)) =))..

The other version never let you shake your butt crazy at 4:00 like this one. It's the best part ever !

  • this is so awesome i feel like i went back in time!! & the talent he had to play and then still manage to sing. incred!

  • j'aime ! jadore! hummmmm!

  • Golly!!!!! There has never been a bigger/fatter trumpet sound! If only I could hear him live today.

  • Wonderful!

  • The 20th Century was a great time for music.

  • <3

  • One of the greatest geniuses in Jazz history...

  • Mr. Armstrong , like most great artists, didn't really worry about the money, he felt ok if he had a maybe couple of grand cash in his coat pocket. The music" business" even took a toll on one of his stature, but he left infinitely more than what he took while he was here, that is what counts. He knew that.

  • Louis Armstrong is INCREDIBLE COOL !!!!!!! i love Blues

  • Da 2,03 a 3,00 salva il mondo.

  • @sidelis bel commento - lo traduco per gli altri :) translation "from 2.03 to 3.00 he saves the whole world"

  • @yourockets3 Gentile.

  • wish my name was Peanuts Hucko

  • Saw this band at Embasy sportsdrome in Birmingham (UK) in the 50. A major event in my life (and I have been around)

  • but... tell me who are the evil people who dislike that kind of song... 17 is more than enough....

  • Maravilloso un grande detodas las epocas

  • just listening to louis armstrong already makes my jazz playing better :) lmao when he goes "aaaagh!!" @6:49 after he finishes playing lmao

  • The 4th minute.... I shake my leg like crazy 8-}...

It's Louis that I changed from Classical to Jazz :D..

  • Fuck life.

  • When he croons @2:54 "...my HOME TOWN, yeah" then winks, I get fucking chills!

  • Saang Satchmooooooooooo!!!!!!

  • A moment locked in time, great clip of a synergy in jazz rarely matched. Louis Armstrong and Trummy Young wove a connected pattern in this performance near tight and full of joy as an Olympic gymnast's butt. Well, I guess there are more politically correct analogies...

  • i can play this on sax

  • ahhhhh.... this is great.. thanks for posting this video.. so classic!!

Kid Koala also remixes this song but i like Louis Armstrong better

  • Loius the King of Jazz! Thanks for "Showing the Love" Man!

  • The Germans must have been glad to hear this awesome music... I mean as little as 15 years before this was filmed, most American music was banned in Germany. I find it good to see things like those rules ending, and everyone being free to listen to this awesome music.

  • @cosinomazzotta me too... i wanna be born in the 1900... for meeting this wonderful man!

  • I feel sorry for those who can't let Louis Armstrong into their lives. He was a musical genius, and one of the finest human beings ever to walk this planet. I have fond memories of his music, which was an integral part of my childhood. I grew up in San Francisco, the daughter of Italian immigrants. My Dad was a big fan of Satchmo's, and I remember my Dad and I dancing together to his music in our living room when I was a little girl. One of the most beautiful memories of my life....

  • you can see good german people very happy with the presence of a black great entertainer and musician, and a great human being... only 14 years after the war... that germans sure cried for their nation´s army and government decisition to kill so many people and bring terror to so many innocents... let´s music brings peace to us all!

  • Love, love, love it!

  • legendary

  • 16 people don't respect greatness.

  • We played this in my high school band. It was my favotie.

  • I feel sorry i don"t lived in Louis time. The best musician ever.

  • My Jazz band played this:)

  • Perhaps if the dislike button were moved away from the like button, we could tell for sure if the 15 dislikes were intentional, or just caused by likes who missed the like button because they were distracted by the greatness displayed just above the buttons.

  • @RobertBorden121 Or maybe...just maybe...someone has their own opinion.

  • He looks so sad after saying "my hometown" !

  • @WAMEDJO hes got the blues man

  • I would have loved to see this in person, but my dad was only 6 years old. lol

  • @aknotz yeah so was my mom I swear I was born a few decades too late lol

  • Louis Armstrong's music is for everybody, but not everybody is for him..and might I add they don't deserve to hear him!

  • 15 people can't get off their butts and walk to basin street. idiots.

  • I like this version, it's slightly slowed down. Nice in its own wright.

  • Nice.

  • @RocketdogBaby my choir is singing this too. It's such a fun song to sing I like it when it goes My basin street blues :)

  • hûhu_pásst_híer_ñêt_rêîñ_âbà_ìch_bin_sõ_ëíñsåm_wîll_jêmañd_mït_mìà_schreíbêñ

  • 13 personas que no saben de buena musica

  • Great jazz standard or greatest jazz standard? Nobody does this beautiful tune better than Louis.

  • wow, these are the masters that began it all..

  • DANG....

  • never started listening to this stuff until recently when i watched a television series called ' Treme ' absoluteley loving all this jazz im finding now, but this is my favourite by far. Man i want a trumpet now.

  • There's nothing about Louis to dislike - I read in a book about him that he was very insecure and hated himself - he constantly needed the adulation to feel like he had a purpose. If this is true then that is very sad - He continues to bring happiness and pleasure to millions of people 40 years after his passing. I love watching these clips of the all-stars on stage, they are having so much fun and the audience love it. The man was unique & loved everybody - very rare!!

  • @TSR2XR220 i just looked that up and if its the book by james lincoln collier it was apparenty 'condemned by prominent scholars and those who knew armstrong.'

  • @TSR2XR220 He was great and loved. But, for the trumpet,...Bunny Berrigan....with the very, very best.

  • @TSR2XR220 noo way it couldnt be true, he was always such a happy character on stage and they say he was the most honest perfomer. i refuse to believe that is true! :P

  • You tube should cancel your account if you hit a dislike on Louis.

    Stupidity should have consequences !!!

  • I used to play this in my high school as the only clarinet player

  • 13 people dont know real music... and probably like justin beiber

  • How in fucks name do people 'dislike' this ? They must have terrible aim when clicking the 'like' button or else they're pissed drunk :-)

  • i remember playing this in high school in music class. this will always be a classic and a great song.

  • @MsBryanfreeman Then why did you look up either Louis Armstrong or Basin Street Blues on Youtube?

  • Dislike button? Not really needed for this video. :S

  • Mr. louis armstrong

  • Comment removed

  • @MsBryanfreeman

That explains the fanbase of Louis that consists of millions.

  • fucking legendary

  • Basin Street, for those who don't know, was where all the fanciest brothels were in New Orleans during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Jelly Roll Morton played piano in some of them when he was a teenager and a young man.

  • @w9j15g

Yay, thanks for that bit of information! :)

  • good old "satchmo." I love his music and his great energy! His talent will go on through generations. He invented the scat singing "da da da di.. da da doo da da doo...

  • 12 people don´t like REAL music.....:(

  • playing this song for our school band concert! :)

  • best song ever.

  • My favorite part of this song has to be his scat singing from 2:27 - 2:35 : )

  • i played it for the very begining of my day - i know its good now :))

  • Looks like 12 blind cunts missed the "Like"button

  • @MeinlFanatic if they're "blind" why are they also "cunts." they just honestly couldn't see what button it was they were pressing when they clicked dislike.

  • @djkramnik Haha nice one:)

  • @MeinlFanatic haha charming

  • all you have to do is hear and see the emotion,, what a man. Ive already wrote in to my will,, this is played at my funeral whenever that comes

  • why does louis armstrong need a dislike button

  • @larune agreed.

whoever dislikes this must have SOMETHING wrong with them...

  • @larune exactly what I was thinking!! that's cool.

  • @larune Gods honest truth is, he doesn't.
