I need to hurry up and move to New Orleans. I made it here to a job an hour away in Baton Rouge, but it's still not close enough. I need to feel the heartbeat of the city...
Louis Armstrong and the great musicians who played with him were class acts. Wish they all could be back today to play for those of us who love this music.
A classic tune performed by a true legend. I love his recordings from the 20's. They have so much character. Definitely look into those old recordings.
He did for Jazz music what Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson did for Tap Dance. A genius musician. A pioneer and cultivator of an art form. A unique onstage personality of rare charisma, synonymous with all the best that America had to offer in the 20th century. Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong was all that and more.
After searching and taste hundred version of Basin Street Blues when I'm first watching this, now I have return. And it's still the best version of all time :)) =))..
The other version never let you shake your butt crazy at 4:00 like this one. It's the best part ever !
Mr. Armstrong , like most great artists, didn't really worry about the money, he felt ok if he had a maybe couple of grand cash in his coat pocket. The music" business" even took a toll on one of his stature, but he left infinitely more than what he took while he was here, that is what counts. He knew that.
A moment locked in time, great clip of a synergy in jazz rarely matched. Louis Armstrong and Trummy Young wove a connected pattern in this performance near tight and full of joy as an Olympic gymnast's butt. Well, I guess there are more politically correct analogies...
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
The Germans must have been glad to hear this awesome music... I mean as little as 15 years before this was filmed, most American music was banned in Germany. I find it good to see things like those rules ending, and everyone being free to listen to this awesome music.
I feel sorry for those who can't let Louis Armstrong into their lives. He was a musical genius, and one of the finest human beings ever to walk this planet. I have fond memories of his music, which was an integral part of my childhood. I grew up in San Francisco, the daughter of Italian immigrants. My Dad was a big fan of Satchmo's, and I remember my Dad and I dancing together to his music in our living room when I was a little girl. One of the most beautiful memories of my life....
you can see good german people very happy with the presence of a black great entertainer and musician, and a great human being... only 14 years after the war... that germans sure cried for their nation´s army and government decisition to kill so many people and bring terror to so many innocents... let´s music brings peace to us all!
Perhaps if the dislike button were moved away from the like button, we could tell for sure if the 15 dislikes were intentional, or just caused by likes who missed the like button because they were distracted by the greatness displayed just above the buttons.
