Faith Hill is a talented artist but Angie's version has more soul in to it. But unfortunately most of the people prefer Faith's version and some never heard of Angie's version..
though she did not write this song, please appreciate the fact that she loves the writer so much as to have him sing with her. just look at her interaction with Angie. just look at that.
No - this song would have gone nowhere without wet look Faith singing it - with that outstanding arrangement on the video version (without the accordians!) but she definately owes him one for writing it.
Faith hill is indisputably the Britany Spears of commercial country. Songs are written for her and she will sing it in the most commercially efficient way that she should. But please, I've seen angie 5 times and he sings this from the heart and technically better than faith hill. The only downfall of Angies' original version is that it's overproduced by Matt Serletic. I'm sure Faith is a nice person and she does have a talent but shes just a commercial singing machine, like all the others.
@mattkudzu I respectfully disagree. I see your point since Faith Hill (and many, many other singers) don't write their own music. But Faith, unlike Britney, CAN actually sing and has much more depth than Britney ever did. Specifically with the Cry album, Faith Hill specifically looked for songs that dealt with more emotional issues and sang them with her own interpretations. Again, kudos to Angie Aparo--song writers are never credit enough and he is a TRUE artist. But Faith is NOT Britney.
Haters gonna hate. Just an FYI for you..... before the 70's 'singer, songwriter' era. almost no singers wrote their own music. Sinatra, Ray Charles, Bing Crosby, etc. etc. etc. all RECORDED what others wrote for them. Do you want to say that these guys were not valid artists because they didn't write their own stuff?
I am not saying the writers don't deserve credit - but comparing Faith to Britney is a stretch, Faith has a huge voice and talent, and I am not a country music person.
@jkcates1 I agree, Faith Hill has more talent than Brittany Spears. But when comparing apples to apples across different genres, Faith Hill would, in my opinion, be the country equivilant of Brittany. But you know what they say about opinions.........
Indisputably? Faith Hill CAN sing! Yes, she wants people to like what and how she sings. Yes, this will sell more songs, but she has the talent to do it and you can tell she enjoys singing. It is an art that many "songwriters" don't have. Fortunately, Angie Aparo is one songwriter who can sing and Faith totally recognizes that and shows him the respect for it as seen in this video. She's made him some money as well. Congrats to both of them for having a talent many of us don't have!
Yes...I have absolutely no idea what constitutes vocal skill. Guess what? I don't give a damn about skill. There are some technically amazing musicians in the world that I can't stand. How "good" you are doesn't amount to a steaming pile of shit if you don't sound good to me. I form my opinion of a musician based on whether or not I enjoy listening to them, not how difficult or intricate their music is. I'm sorry my opinion threatened your sense of self so much you felt the need to lash out.
@mrdvant How humorous it is that when broached with a response that challenges your "opinions" (that you asserted as fact, that seem to be the only ones that matter) you reply with maliciousness, yet I'M the one whose threatened.... Or could it possibly be that you sounded like a big frakking uber-douche in your first post and I felt it my duty to knock your bitch ass down a peg or two? Or that you're just a big arrogant fuckwit who thinks far too highly of himself? Yeah, I think *that's* it.
@TommyGDub Lol. Yes. You are right. Your penis is far to large for me to argue with you and your position is unassailable. You knocked me down a peg or two indeed...with your words...on the internet...I must now hide my head in shame, my friends will abandon me and I can never show my face in public again.
I feel insulted for Angie Aparo in this video. It's sad that he sang backup for this talentless twat. Of course, he'd pretty much have to so he didn't overshadow her at her show. His voice is so much more powerful and expressive than hers. Those of you who like this song by Faith, listen to the original to hear how it was supposed to sound.
@mrdvant Thanks for making clear the fact that you have absolutely no perception of what constitutes vocal skill. I'm not going to criticize Angie because he sounds lovely on the harmonies but your talentless twat comment is just ludicrous. Are you deaf or just blinded by bias? Faith Hill is one of the few vocalists today that can maintain a belt with full vibrato and switch into a throaty whisper in an instant. She takes this to a place more heartbroken and sensual than Angie ever could.

I feel more emotion and power when faith sings it. Or when a female sings it. I don't have the same feelings when a male sings this song. idk why
