@colinbluewood honestly i took a test in school (i just graduated) as part of my contemporary issues class and i am more on the liberal side but i do get it that we just can't afford the government programs and things such as welfare definitely need to actually be harder to get because so many people take advantage of it. like my old neighbor pours concrete so he only works 8 months out of the year and he sits and collects unemployment instead of having another job. i think its just plain wrong

The data for my statistics is available on the IRS website on their aggregate data tables. You can very clearly see on there that the bottom 50% of the country pay roughly 3% of the tax revenue, while the top 10% pay close to 70%, top 25% pay close to 87% of all income taxes.
