  • I don't understand creationism. If they want their stupid (un)intelligent design bullshit taught in schools, then why not also teach the Mayan mythos for how the world began? The Greek mythos? The Roman mythos? The Norse mythos? Eastern mythoi? After all, no matter how much they claim there is not enough evidence for evolution, the simple fact is that their little Bible stories have no more evidence for them than we have for any of the other cultures' stories that I mentioned.

  • it should be taught in special needs schools along with finger painting and making pictures out of dried pasta

  • @4squaredbytimes4 And I agree 100%, creationism should be taught in religeous studies, but definately not in science.

  • You can't teach something debunked by science in science class!!!

  • @kyekire exactly! nor can you choose not to believe in evolution- its like choosing not to believe that 1+1=2

  • @kyekire In some polls 50% of Americans think creationism should be taught in science class of all places. I think there's a time and place for creationism. It's called seminary or Bible study class.

  • @4squaredby4times4 it's called Persia circa 300 BC and it should have stayed there

  • Sure, when i went to school we where taught creation/inteligend design, but it was in an religion class and NOT in a science class.

  • I'm sick of christians thinking that they rule the country. Trying to push thier "beliefs" on everyone else. Its extremly arogant and unconstitutional. If you want your kids to learn creationism take em to church. Keep your bullshit from your ridiculous book out of the schools so kids can learn the facts. How many of these chirstians know a god damn thing about science anyway?

  • I have a 6-year-old in school and I'll be damned if her education gets jeopardized by a group of uneducated idiots who think they know more than leading scientists and researchers.

  • @CaptainAwesomeoh13 DAMN RIGHT! me too- my kid will be taught facts, truth- the only place for creationism in any level of schooling is in a mythology class!

  • @CaptainAwesomeoh13 i dont have kids but IFEEL FOR YOU BRO!

  • My son goes to a public school, he is in 9th grade and currently learning about evolution in science class. The students in his school come from non-religious(ours), christian, and muslim faiths. Does teaching the"controversy mean teaching all the faiths? How would the muslim parents react to their children being taught christian beliefs? Religion does not belong in public schools.

  • @8698gil Greatest comment I've seen on here so far, thank you.

  • Before reading this, know I am an atheist. I think creationism should be taught in science lessons. The scientific method is to propose a hypothesis, do experiments to prove the hypothesis then base a theory on the results. It would be a good teaching exercise to teach students creationism as a hypothesis. then they should propose experiments and explain what proof would have to be given for it to be a valid theory. Until a hypothesis has been widely accepted to be false it is rude to reject it.

  • @TheHoho001 Continued from my last comment... It seems science lessons these days are more about just telling students the discoveries and theories that other scientists have made rather than the journey of discovery that is so important in science. Students must know how to prove a hypothesis and understand the importance of evidence rather than regurgitating the information they have been told.

  • @TheHoho001 - Except "intelligent design" has been widely accepted as false by the scientific community..and it is, ultimately, a class about science.

  • @CaptainMacNasty I agree with you. But apparently half of the USA still believe in intelligent design. I was just proposing an idea to teach it in lessons and make people on both sides of the argument happy.

  • @TheHoho001 That doesn't matter. Your proposal isn't logically sound. Why should we owe creationists anything? Evolution has been proven. Creationism isn't even an acceptable scientific hypothesis. Do you even know what a hypothesis is? Or a theory in Biology, for that matter? A "Theory" in Biology is the penultimate state of reliability a concept can achieve--it holds same weight as the Universal Law of Gravitation in Physics. It isn't morally acceptable to teach our children lies in school.

  • @TheHoho001

and what about all the other religions? rastafari, sikh, hindus, scientology...? there are hundreds of religions out there! then we'll have to teach them as well. or do you want to discriminate them? you see where this is leading us? and what if i just start a religion right now that says that we all were created by jerry siegel and his son superman?

i can see that you have a good intention but it will lead to total chaos.

  • @TheHoho001

Maybe you live in a world where there is an infinite amount of time and resources available to teachers. I don't, so bullshit has no place in a science class, even if just to prove it is bullshit. If we allow creationism in biology classes, we should allow astrology, wizardry, and the nonsense the likes of Deepak Chopra expounds in other fields of science education.

Why waste valuable teaching time on crap, and confuse kids in the process?

    To placate the religious nuts,

  • Teaching religion and teaching about religion are two separate things - the latter is a way of avoiding general ignorance in children, the former is a way of encouraging it.

  • I think there should be a federal requirement that if creationism is to be taught, it must be as part of a package including alchemy, magic spells, and healing with crystals. Then we'd see how much religist parents want their kids educated by medieval standards.

  • @carmium … you want them to read the "Harry Potter" series. Nicely done.

  • Why does a country that gave the world some of the most brilliant minds and prestigious schools have so many morons?!

in 2010 this shouldn't even be a debate; religion is a belief based on faith, science is based on evidence. Fairy tails are for bedtime, not school

  • @LadyAmaltheaUnicorn I guess you believe in abiogenesis too no?

  • @LadyAmaltheaUnicorn You fail to realize that about 92% of US citizens believe, yes, BELIEVE, that the earth is 6000 years old. Once you get your head around that little ditty, you will then realize why this is a "debate". Those same people have NO idea that the furthest star we can see is 71 billion light years away. 6000 vs 71,000,000,000. So, there you have it. Can a planet that is "6000 years old" even EXIST in a universe where we can SEE a star 71,000,000,000 light years away? Nope. You win

  • @ReistLaxCoach

Actually the percentages I've read place the belief around 42%, which is still pretty embarrassing, but not as bad as 92.

And even if there are people who truly believe in this drivel why would it concern them to hear the evidence for evolution?

That is, if they're so sound that their knowledge is correct, than they'll be able to debunk the supposed "myths" of cosmology and Darwinism, right?

I think they just *want* to believe and are afraid of seeing reality for what it is

  • @ReistLaxCoach I'm on your side, but I have to correct some misinformation and faulty logic in your comment. The actual percentage of Young Earthers is probably much lower than 92%. Around 75% of Americans believe in a personal God according to a 2008 gallup poll I remember seeing. Of those 75%, not all are Young Earthers. You also need to factor in what is probably a substantial number of "in the closet Atheists". Then there are those minorities that voluntarily ignore science for faith.

  • @ReistLaxCoach Now to the logic of stars' light that is billions of light years away in relation to a "young" Earth. If a planet was born right now and you stepped onto it tomorrow, would you not see the same star's light at the same distance as you see it from Earth? This hypothetical new planet is right next to Earth by the way. The distance of a visible star has no correlation with the Earth's age. It does however prove that Earth can very possibly be billions of years old.

  • @iz2sicc .. my choke. I meant to say the universe, not the earth. ie, how can a universe be 6000 years old when we see 71,000,000,000 years old. sorry. North Carolina moonshine… !

  • Might as well teach them the Tooth Fairy is real, too.

  • It's terrifying that in this day and age America still has to deal with bronze age superstitionists.

  • Every educated person knows creationism is crap. Now its time educate the uneducated.

  • Yes we need to teach creationism in schools. How else are our children supposed to have moral values? The notion that humans evolved from monkeys is so riddiculuous that I can't understand how people could possibly believe it. I personally wish for children to believe in something sensible such as God instead of the absurd notion that we somehow are related to monkeys. God made us the dominant beings on earth and that means we are greater than them. To say we're related is highly offensive.

  • @TrollyTrollerMcTroll obvious troll

  • @TrollyTrollerMcTroll We came from an ape like ancestor, not a monkey. Your view of evolution is distorted. The facts might offend you, but it is still a reality none the less. Real science has proved this. To say that we need the bible to teach values is also false seeing as how the bible allows for genocide, rape, murder, and incest.

  • It is amazing how the dogmatic evolutionists claim that science is the sum total of all knowledge. They hail scientists who agree with their view, yet when that same scientist changes over to agree with intelligent design { Anthony Flew for example } they claim he is delusional. Science is unable to determine the source of life because it is an unobservable event. There have been so many evolutionary hoaxes that the evidence has become muddied. Science is not meant to explain the metaphysical

  • @logicnreason1 science != scientists

  • @logicnreason1 I think maybe metaphysical doesn't mean what you think it means. Science is by definition a metaphysical pursuit. Science rests on the idea that we must constantly question the established wisdom and test our theories in controlled experiments. To call failed evolutionary theories "hoaxes" is a sign that you simply can't comprehend the scientific frame of mind. The goal of a scientific theory isn't to "win" anything or "convince" anyone, but to present an idea and admit ignorance.

  • @logicnreason1 No "scientist" who believe in Creationism I have ever seen has been a biologist. And there has been hoaxes, but science has never called a fake fossil proof of evolution. Hell, they don't call fossils "real" until extensive experiments to confirm it is NOT a fake. And why does there have to be a mystical cause for something we don't understand. Up until Franklin, nobody knew lightning was merely electricity.

  • Ever seen a child being born? Evolution in 9 months!!!

  • If humanity is ever to truly progress as a species, we need to classify religious belief as a mental illness just like schitzophrenia or mental retardation.

  • :fine, dont teach evolution.. lets see next generations biologists.......

  • And Jesus Christ himself wrote the US Constitution! Didn't you guys know that?

  • It is an embarrassment to the United States that there are so many people here who want to have the biblical theory of creation taught in science classes in public schools. It is a further embarrassment that there is a large block of people in the United States who believe that if one is not a Christian, then for sure they are atheists! The ignorance in the United States is epidemic.

  • If you don't want to have an education, don't go to school. School is a place where people get knowledge, not beliefs. Don't confuse those two.

Anyway, all fucking church are subsidized in the US. You already have enough money without getting more brainwashed sheep to give you theirs.

  • "Creation science" is a contradiction in terms.

  • Thank SCIENCE for the NCSE!

  • Teaching creationism in schools?

Why stop there lets teach BATMAN to our law enforcement classrooms as well. It might help them become better detectives.

  • Eugeine Scott: An elegant speaking voice, a fashionable scarf and a PHD. I want to be her when I grow up...

  • 83 people were looking for a lesson plan.

  • "prayer has no place in public schools, just like facts have no place in organized religion" - superintendent Chalmers

  • 3:03

    So inspirational!

  • How do these people live with themselves, trying to bush their superstitious views of the world?

  • i admit, i also teach creationism in my class but only to make fun of it

  • @Serpico261 Why do people laugh at creationists? only creationists don't know. Surely even creationists laugh at Kent Hovind though.....

  • I don't understand why some people take the bible literally! It's a book written by men approx. 2000 years ago. Personally, I think it's full of shit especially over the countless generations that have passed since the conception of the bible. I guarantee it has become distorted and has many false testimonies. People who take the bible literally are either true idiots or people who are willfully ignorant. Science is a fact! Countless experiments have been performed to prove the natural phenomena

  • Why would anyone teach the absurd concept of creationism in schools? We don't need anymore idiots controlling our government! Teach what's supposed to be taught in schools...science. Creationism is a myth! Science on the other hand attempts to describe all the natural phenomena that we can observe directly in front of our faces! God on the other hand is not a fact. It is a lie from idiots who claim that the bible is concrete evidence. The Bible is not evidence; it's an unreliable witness!!!!

  • Beings from other realms came here and took a fancy to one of the monkeys resulting in what we call 'the human species'. If we solely evolved from apes, there would be no more apes.

  • @carriemaizey "If we solely evolved from apes, there would be no more apes."

This is why we so desperately need to keep Idiot Design out of the classroom.

If CarrieMaizey knew anything at all about Evolution it would be that no where does it ever claim that people evolved from apes.

Every time one of you Idiot Design people repeat this you just defeat your cause.

What you demonstrate is that you are so sorely lacking in knowledge that you need more science education, not less.

  • @carriemaizey Personnly, I believe that Idiot Design people are too stupid to understand real science.

After all, it is HARD to graduate form college, do research, form opinions, write up your analysis, submit it for peer review, have it published, and then see if it can withstand the test of time.

It takes time, effort, and knowledge.

Why not cut through all the red tape and just say "goddidit"?

Every time some moron says "Man came from apes" shows they are too stupid to even use a dictionary.

  • @PaulinaPaulino Really? And where in my comment did I mention Intelligent Design aka Creationism?

However, as you have pointed out 'it takes time, effort bla blah ...'

And in my humble opinion, if you believe that 'modern' science has it all tied up, no more to learn, 'move along please nothing more to see, THEN YOU ARE THE IDIOT, IDIOT.

PS Ever looked at quantum theory? Or are YOU just too stupid/lazy to even try to understand?

  • @carriemaizey You PROVE you are a supporter of religion, aka creationism, aka intelligent design, but saying stupid things like "man evolved from apes".

Any moron that says (like you do) modern science "has it all tied up, no more to learn", PROVES you are ignorant of what science is.

To the contrary, it is Idiot Design people that say "everything you want to know can be explained in the bible."

As far as Quantum theory, would you like me to start at the Bohr model?

  • *where*

  • pay for your own kid's schooling, and you can decide exactly what the little fuckers learn

  • @longfootbuddy Not necessarily. I didn't believe what was being taught in RE classes from when I was first shoved into the classroom at age 5.

  • the national center for science education.

    KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @garyzenuf … and your ever shrinking and useless appendix …

  • "Don't pray in my school, I won't think in your church."

    unknown

  • @ReistLaxCoach I think it was George Carlin.

  • @Richardisdorky That would make complete and perfect sense, but, unless I can verify it….

It is right up his alley, though!

  • @ReistLaxCoach Wonderful quote.

  • @retrogamerist … thank you, and KEEP THINKING… !

  • @garyzenuf Im not an anatomist, but the tail bone is for anchoring the back muscles, aiding in reproductive maneuvers(you know). Medicine is based on trials and failures. A pill never evolved from chemicals, it's mixed together by intelligence. CO2 is based on imaging? Thanks, I did not know that.

Tell me one thing: If America is being laughed at for our religion, why is it that we are the world's superpower even now?

  • @garyzenuf Yeah, but America is still #1. I don't know, but seems 75% "claim" to be Christian. It could be lower, since Christianity that is true, is not simply by name only. I do not believe in Evolution, so I maybe retarded but I tell you one thing-- you and every other evolutionist are mixing science and evolution. I believe science is good, however, it's God's laws that we study and discover. Science is the study of truth, right?

  • @garyzenuf No I did not forget about you; too much on my plate.

Morality and logic is dictated by the 10 commandments.

You started with the insults, man up.

My point is: America may be having some trouble, but it's not due to our beliefs, it's due to the fact that we have moved away from our beliefs and are reaping the results. No?

My next point, Canada can't really laugh at America just 'cause Michael Moore makes an ass out of us.

  • @compgrad1 morality is entirely subjective...just because you are religious doesn't make your morals better than a non religious persons...morality is a social construct anyway. Here's a little morality lesson for you...it's IMMORAL to tell someone else that your beliefs are superior to theirs, or vice versa, simply because you believe they are inherently so.

  • @compgrad1 no we laugh at you because we see you still in the same position you where in 2 years ago with a ever growing deficit unemployment near 10% your govt basically taking away all of the middle class rights and privileges to give it to the top and basically watch you guys set your country a blaze that's why we laugh and we have front row seats.

  • @garyzenuf Open minded, no... cause when you open your mind, garbage goes in. If it's logical and moral, it's welcome.

  • @garyzenuf So your response is to use ad hominem. Can you refute my points? Or just say that I'm uneducated.

Are you an educator? If yes, educate me then...

  • @garyzenuf So you think drunkeness, adultery, homosexuality, theft, cussing, lack of self respect, swindling and all the other filthy fruits is good for a country. Now I know why we're better.

Btw, ever hear people say, "let's go to Canada, the land of opportunities..." NO, it's always let's go to America. God made this country great, and liberals and immorality is bringing its decline. But in the end, the people who want to be on God's side, will still prosper. Repent, and turn to God.

  • @garyzenuf Yeah, but we're still better than Canada.

  • Evolution cannot be defended in the realm of science, so they must resort to courts.

  • solidarity!!!!

  • Its ridiculous that we even need to have this stupid debate in the US. Creationists need to drag their delusional asses. Church is for religion. Schools are for learning. Think of religion as an erection. You want to play with it in private go right ahead, but dont go sticking in the face of our kids, or we're going to put you in your place.

  • @JabberCT Hahah, hilarious! ; )

  • @JabberCT yes but unfortunately Churches want to use School to recruit morons for their churches. If those religious idiots ever win. Then Athiests should go teach science in Churches

  • @JabberCT Its funny how America scores started going down after Creationism was taking out of public schools... And you say creationism is for church yet they teach : dont be jealous of other , dont lie , respect your elders and parents, dont steal , you cant wear offensive clothing , dont murder.... etc this is all from the 10 commandments. Yea religion will ruin us all......

  • @Eliot8989 "Its funny how America scores started going down after Creationism was taking out of public schools."

Bullshit. Show me the proof. Link your source. And those 10 commandments are mostly common sense like dont murder etc. We dont need to get basic logic from a bronze age book. It also says dont work on sundays. Im sure that was more important than, dont rape children. And since that isnt a commandment, i guess priests have every right to do such things. The commandments are garbage.

  • @JabberCT Look on any site of American scores from 1950s to now... Creationism was takin out of public schooling around 1985. And btw the bible mentions atoms , wind cyclones , and that the world is round (which nobody back then) thats not really basic knowledge. And way to twist the bible around.... Thats just ignorance and i can say the same sort of thing : atheism says that theres no after life or soul so everbody can go around killing people because it doesnt matter....

  • @Eliot8989 Creationism is NOT out of US schools. As a matter of fact, Louisiana and Tennessee banned the teaching of evolution in favor of Intelligent Design, which is a fancy word for creationism. Other states must teach both. The bible describes a flat world. Sure, theres a couple lines in there mentioning a orb or circle but most of it describes a flat Earth, held up by pillars, with angels on the 4 corners who control the wind. And Atheism does NOT say to kill everyone. Ugh.

  • @JabberCT Thats not true in those states.. maybe 100 years ago yes , now absolutly not. No it says in Isaiah 40:22 it says the world is a circle. It says circle rather than sphere due to translation. And im just saying Hebrews 11:3 says the world is made up of elements that are invisible. How does someone from 1500 A.D. describe a T.V? hes not gona say "oh thats a television". same thing here.

And you dont understand symbolism because its clearly talking about symbolism

  • @JabberCT And of coarse i know that atheists arnt out to kill people. You said "dont rape children. And since that isnt a commandment, i guess priests have every right to do such things. The commandments are garbage. " That was soooo taken out of context I tryed to explain that to you by telling you something out of context...

  • @JabberCT I completely agree with you so please just take this as friendly criticism... STOP USING THE PHRASE COMMON SENSE. LoL. Seriously though, it takes away from your otherwise intelligent response.

  • @JabberCT Following the erection analogy, wouldn't 'their place' be the Sex Offender list?

  • @JabberCT There is a god, and his name is science. The evolutionists and scientists claim to have the final answers to the ultimate questions of life. They believe the finite mind of man has grasprd all the concepts and truths of reality and physics of this endless universe. They think they have the sum total of all knowledge. No one is allowed to doubt or question their conclusions without being labeled ignorant. Im sorry but I will not base my life on the perceptions of finite man.

  • @logicnreason1 "The evolutionists and scientists claim to have the final answers"

    No, they dont.

"They think they have the sum total of all knowledge."

    No, they dont.

"No one is allowed to doubt or question their conclusions"

    Yes, they are.

"I will not base my life on the perceptions of finite man."

So learn science from Gods book. Im sure the Bible is filled with info on DNA, thermal dynamics, medical science, etc. Good luck. *facepalm*

  • @JabberCT as a atheist myself i have seen none of you fellow atheists do a god damn thing this argument itself is fucking stupid its funny how literally all you atheists constantly CONSTANTLY contradict yourselves the christain atheist argument is like fighting over a childs toy you guys have been fighting so long that you dont even care if your right or not you just want the damn toy or in your case you want to be right btw true atheists look the other way and laugh at religion

  • @JabberCT not the exact opposite aka going out your way to belittle religion and "protect your kids"(lol which your not doing really at all your just throwing a tantrum because someone mentioned god) another thing i would like to point out is without religion we wouldnt have some of most beautiful artwork ever made we would of never had people like da vinici so fuck you sir religion might be the biggest joke ever created but its produced some hilarious videos and beautiful paintings thats a win

  • but most likely your gonna give me the old song and dance about blah blah religion created war well honestly i couldnt give a fuck if religion has caused millions of lives its really not a big deal at all if religion has caused chaos makes life more fun makes history more fun makes reading the bible more fun yes i am a atheist and i read the bible and like you said this is the US so people can bring religion to school if they want blame that on stupid white people like you for makin the rules

  • @MrCooshcoosh If you are an Atheist, what do you mean by give "YOU" the song and dance about religion? Then you say its ok for people to bring religion to school. Then tell me its stupid white people like me to blame, even though you agree its ok. And i didnt make any rules. Im not on the school board lol.

You should take a deep breath before you reply. Youre all wound up and making no sense.

  • @JamesJessica7771 So much ignorance in so few words.

  • Why do religious types try to hijack science when trying to deliver their "message"? Religion is at best philosophy, and at worst a mechanism for social control. Trying to teach so called "intelligent design" as science severely disadvantages students, particularly those who wish to follow a career in scientific research. We know so little about life, the universe, and everything that to claim divine knowledge of such is supremely arrogant. Leave science to explore the mystery; free of religion.

  • No wonder why the US is going downhill. It makes me sad to see my fellow Americans still beleiving in Creationism, a 2000+ year old idea, while, in the majority civilized of the world goes with evolution, the modern accepted theory. Even more so, it defies the constitution. You're not supposed to teach a certain religion in a public school.

Attention all foreigners from Europe: if you want to avoid creationism bullshit, say to the coastline of the US, like New York, or Los Angeles, Boston...

  • @catluva36 We're going downhill because of evolution buddy. Suicide is up, teen preg, homicide, theft, metal detectors in schools, disputes, etc. Wake up and smell the evolutionary cool aid. This country is as powerful as it is, because not everybody has turned their backs on God, like Europe. Now look at the mess they're in.

  • Negar a criação, é fugir á verdade, isso é o maior perigo da sociedade moderna.

  • In case anyone's wondering, I'm not fool enough to hold my breath. You, I, and all the rest know there's no honest answering.

  • Anyhow, for new arrivals, here's my main question:

What religion would be established if ID were taught in schools?

Also recall that no religion was established 100 years ago, when all the public schools used the Bible as a textbook, and try to give a consistent answer.

...Or don't. Clowns serve a purpose too, in God's plan.

  • @trextoter First of all I don't care if it was done a 100 years ago the Bible is not a text book for anything except a Christian Mythology class none of it's stories can be tested and that is why ID is not i a science class room it does not fit the model of the scientific method end of story

  • Thank you for your number, I'll remember to call once my school teaches intelligent designs

  • One of the problems with practical democracy in the US and Canada - can't speak for other countries - is that people with an agenda can hijack elections for such bodies such as school boards. If we don't care who gets elected and assume it's hardly worth voting for, we could find ourselves in the same situation as in Kansas and Texas. Remember that about half of Americans still don't believe evolution takes place, so listen to who is saying what before you vote come next election.

  • What is the official religion of the United States today?

What was the official religion 100 years ago?

What was the official religion 200 years ago?

I'll try to allow a little time that more than one party may respond.

  • @trextoter We don't have an official religion my friend. A majority does not make it official in this case. I am sorry.

  • @trextoter The official religions today? Nothing as described in the constitution.

The official religion 100 years ago? Nothing as described in the constitution.

The official religion 200 years ago? Nothing as described in the constitution.

  • @baval5 "The official religions today? Nothing as described in the constitution.

The official religion 100 years ago? Nothing as described in the constitution.

The official religion 200 years ago? Nothing as described in the constitution."

Well then, we have some inconsistency. 100 years ago, the Bible was universally employed as a textbook in public schools. If, as you confess, that didn't establish a religion, certainly entertaining the possibility that life arose not by chance cannot.

  • @trextoter Wow trex, to the untrained eye it might seem like youre actually coming to the conclusion that there is no such thing as "The Church of Abiogenesis". Of course i know you better, and youre just trying to say "well since they caught us breaking the constitution teaching the bible in school they need to take YOUR religion out of school too". Once again trex, Abiogenesis (and Evolution since you think theyre the same) are not a religion any more than gravity is a religion.

  • @trextoter Nobody is stating that life arose by chance, get your facts right moron.

  • @trextoter Evolution operates, in part, by natural selection, not chance.

There is a rare element of chance in large populations that experience little environmental pressure, a phenomena known as genetic drift, when a mutation takes hold with little favorability.

S.J. Gould and most leading biologists/anthropologists attribute speciation to punctuate equilibrium, periods of stasis punctuated with rapid (50,000 year) periods in which a given mutation is favored under environmental pressure.

  • @Ematched "Evolution operates, in part, by natural selection, not chance.

There is a rare element of chance in large populations that experience little environmental pressure, a phenomena known as genetic drift, when a mutation takes hold with little favorability."

You blibber blabber in confusion. You need to learn your own religion.

"Natural selection" allegedly operates by killing of all but the fittest. How's she supposed to kill that which is not alive? (more)

  • @Ematched

Under evolutionism, life must've arisen by pure chance alone. There is no alternative and no alternative is even allowed consideration. They are most intolerant on this point.

There is allowance for magic, of course. One is permitted to believe there's some "law of emergence" which cannot be discovered; one is allowed to believe in (but never mention) a luck goddess who magically overcomes astronomical odds time after time after time without working up a sweat.

  • @Ematched

Perhaps you'd like to do what your fellows cannot?

Perhaps you can explain how teaching ID would establish an official religion, when we know there was no official religion 100 years ago with the Bible used as a textbook. Or perhaps not?

  • @trextoter You are wrong on every account. Evolution is not a religion. ID is. I will refer you to Judge Jones's decision in the Kitzmiller v. Dover School District case. The pdf is accessible if you google "Judge Jones ruling."

I know it's 139 pages, but you're a big boy/girl and can handle the double spacing. It's really a quite lucid summary of evolutionary theory, presenting the history of the debate. Note: Judge Jones is a George W. Bush appointee. He's neither liberal nor activist.

  • @trextoter If you continue to assert that "life must've arisen by pure chance alone," you do nothing but reveal that you have absolutely no understanding of natural selection. I will, in this case, rever you to Stephen Jay Gould's "The Structure of Evolutionary Theory."

The "blibber blabber" is actually the nomencalture relevant to the field of Evolutionary biology. Read a book. It'll expand your vocabulary.

If you google a few of those phrases, you might learn something.

  • All teaching of religions and silly, unproven sciences are to be banned from school. Study the flying spaghetti monster of the creationist and the flying dinosaurs of the phaleonthologists in own free time. To think, we were taught such garbage, including Father christmas when we were a children. My parents should have enrolled me for accounts, extra maths and other subjects that would have better prepared me for a career.

  • I don't understand why people would want to teach creatonism/intelligent design in science class. I don't see scientists advocating teaching physics during religious education classes? Or teaching Victor Hugo in an English literature class...

  • It seems to me that there are less and less creationists nowadays. Looks like natural selection works ;).

  • I am just so glad that this fight is still strong. Evolution must be thought about, rather than just accepted. Think about what you believe in. THINK PEOPLE. THINK!!!! 99% of students learn that evolution is science when it's not. It's so much worse than religion. It is religious tyrannical philosophy and must be banished from brainwashing our children. I'm srieously thinking about homeschooling for my children bedfause of this

  • @tpstrat14 actually evolution is the basis for modern scientific research and medicine. how about next time you ask for a anti-biotic you ask for the medicine to treat the non-evolved 1950s strains of the disease. if evolution is a 'lie' then you should be completely fine.

yay go ahead and homeschool your children so they can end up just as ignorant and brainwashed as you

  • @AussiePolitics Now hold it. If we didn't evolve from apes, what did we evolve from, unicorns? Evolution happens, like there in your example of the strains of antibiotics and whatnot. But does that mean that those strains will eventually warp into frogs or mice? You people crack me up. Where do you get the guts to draw those kinds of conclusions!?!? Once again, the evolution of one species into another form of the SAME SPECIES, is not evidence of inter-species evolution. should be obvious....

  • @tpstrat14 macroevolution is lots of microevolutions, and yes, there is proof, for example, fosils of dinosaurs with feathers

And, if it is SO obvious, then by almost all of the biologists desagree with you? those who spend years stuying life on earth

  • @AussiePolitics But seriously, we need to rethink our assumptions and at least give the other side of the story. Or better yet, we should take this whole debate to the philosophy/ religion classes in school. Either keep both creationism and evolution out of school, or allow creationism to be taught as another possible theory.

  • @tpstrat14 lol, theres no place in science class to creationism because ITS NOT A SCIENCE.

Want to teach it in schools? teach it in philosophy class. I agree, mithology is quite amusing. But creatisism isnt a "possible theory" because its not a scientific theory as evolution, and theres no solid, testable proof that it exists

  • @tpstrat14 Then it could be exposed for the laugh that it is. It could then be shown to these nutjobs as having as much credibility as ancient Norse, Native American, Chinese, Greek, Roman, Meso-American, Hindu, Polynesian, etc. mythological creation stories due to its complete lack of evidence to support it. Furthermore, maybe then some of these people would see the absurdity of taking the Bible as literal.

  • @jknengr796 Taking the bible as literal is absurd and silly, but taking evolution as literal is dishonest. It uses supposed science to back it up, whereas with the bible, you must believe it to take it as literal. These fools are duped into thinking THEIR religion isscientifically backed up, when in fact it's just as insane to think that evolution has scientific backing as it is to think that aliens living under the ocean bed has scientific backing.

  • @tpstrat14 There is a huge difference. It is the scientific process that supports evolution. Just like it supports the Theory of Gravity, Atomic Theory, Germ Theory, etc. There is too much discovered peer reviewed evidence to support the evolutionary process. From the fossil record, DNA mapping, genetics, etc. Learn some basic science and how the scientific process works before commenting further.

  • @tpstrat14 Before you go around calling other people out you should learn a little about what you are criticising before you start spouting off.

    .

From your channel - "It's merely a religion, people! That's all! There's no proof for it and there never will be, so don't bother messaging {about evidence}...

    .

You declare that you will not listen to reason or consider evidence - then you have the gall to call evolution a brainwashing tyranny? Your brain is clearly bleached. I fear for your kids.

  • I seriously don't understand how USA can still be the #1 country in the world. I mean, seriously, you guys have millions and millions of retards living there. Who the fuck can believe in creationism??? Only americans. Thank god you also have brilliant minds... don't know where you would be if not...

  • If they're gonna teach the Adam and Eve theory, then they gotta teach my theory that the universe came from my anus when I farted. That's why they call it the big bang.

  • Some people wonder why the United States is lagging behind other countries in Science and Math. Its because some classrooms teach creationism as opposed to actual science. As for the math, i think people just dont like math lol.

  • @junkers1337 Wich is illegal I can't those idiots. If my kid ever comes home and I find they taught him any crap like religion. I got the money to put a teachers ass out of a job and with do so.

  • There's a "creation evidence" museum in my home town of Glen Rose, Texas (I've long since moved out so don't fret about personal info and such folks) and I fear for the education of the kids in that town. Can someone blow the whistle on Glen Rose?

  • "...the AGENCY of an intelligent creator" What?! as in the F.B.LIES. :)

  • We learn about religion as mythology here where i live, i fucking love Europe. <3

  • @Uteko95

the EU is stated to be the next global power... i fact, i read an article on wikileaks as awell as one in the times of india both of which stated that the EU's global political influence has already exceeded that of the US... your economy is already larger than the US...

    p.s; i fucking love europe too - especially the czech republic for 3 reasons;

most irreligious country in europe, best wi-fi services in europe and it's europes's highest beer consuming region...

  • @Uteko95 And I loved where I lived: Asia, where even the international American schools can rival that with the selective high schools in the US, and that episodes where creationism is debated would be seen as fodder for a Simpsons episode.

  • @Uteko95 Im from argentina and even in here, creatisionism is not consider science, and not even in religous schools it is thought in science clases.

  • @Uteko95 Lucky...kids in my schools fight to go against science because they cant understand a molecule fucking Louisiana

  • @Uteko95 I WANT TO MOVE TO ENGLAND!!!

  • @Uteko95 I wish we could have that in mexico too... lucky you! I have to get most of my secular education from the internet or other sources...

  • @Uteko95 makes me jealous! fucking america. FSM i hate the creationist here.

  • @Uteko95 we don't even learn about religion here in canada. When our teacher tried to bring up some church shit, the whole class told him off

  • @Pransterrr There are some atheists who actually speak in favor of unbiased religious education. I tend to agree: Imagine if every child learns about the major faiths out there and the arguments and "evidence" for them (along with the rebuttals). Would they still think so highly of their parents' god? Would they maybe reach the conclusion that religions probably are man made on their own?

IMO, children should be entitled to make a truly educated choice for one of the religions or against them

  • @lizzy310589 But if you present facts like these to students who are true believers, something tells me they'll stop listening. Believers will see you as attacking them and their religion, and then just shut down. I think that religion overall should just be separated from schools, and science classes should just be based on sound scientific theory. Religious people can infer their religion's fallacies from there if they want. Just my bit.

  • @Pransterrr I guess this is one of these topics where there is no single answer. Both ways have its merits. I just believe that more education is always a good thing, and that if religious extremists are becoming a problem, information about the extreme and less extreme groups can help. We learn about tons of social phenomena and the structures that lead to it, why should religion be any different...

  • @lizzy310589 I suppose you're right, I'm just biased in that I hate listening to anything about religion, just like I hate listening to fairy tales. Also here in Canada, religous extremism isn't an issue as far as I can see, so I don't feel like it's an issue that absolutely has to be discussed. I suppose it's a different issue where you're from?

  • @Pransterrr Not really, at least not with Christians. We do have religious education (about the mainstream christian religions and a little about other faiths, too) and I feel like that actually worked towards my atheism and towards a general indifference towards religion within the society. I'm not sure how big of a problem muslims actually pose (we do have a lot of muslims here, but many of them actually came here to be able to live without the strict rules of their home country or society).

  • @Uteko95

LMAO, it's only America and Ireland were Creationism is seen as a viable excuse (and I do mean an excuse) for our existence.

  • If we continue teaching religon as fact in school's the United States will become incompatible to the rest of the planet! Hell, Iran teaches science and evolution as the real thing and their a fucking theocracy!

  • Keep up the fight if they want religion they need to send there child to a religous school.
