those neeat pod races, jedi fight battles really didn't help the movie, for action scenes like those to work you need to care about the characters and to do that you first need characters. after seeing those movies all I got from it is jedis are dicks, the sith really don't seem bad, And everything ben told Luke in the originals was a lie.

for the prequals to work they need to remake the old ones.

@helrod The first Star Wars movie! It does have some redeeming qualities - a great pod race, some good Jedi action and decent battle scenes. I wonder how much better it would have been had Obi-wan been a little old and so had Anakin Solo (and therefor played by someone other than Jake Lloyd). Oh and if Jar Jar was a little less annoying. I think it's aimed too much at kids and not enough at teens and adults.

The Phantom Menace is an underrated film although I agree about Jar Jar, its still one of the biggest money making machines in cinema history.

Basically it's the worst of the Star Wars films, BUT it's still a good film. The dialogue in ALL the GL-directed films sucks. But the film has some quality moments like the Pod Racers and the Darth Maul fight.

In terms of characters, Anakin is too young, and I would have preferred to see another race other than the Gungans.

Yes I like the Empire strikes back and revenge of the sith in alot of places but not the whole film. I guess Im just a disappointed movie goer who expected too much from lucas' writing and got let down. A well not the end of the world. I thought Hayden christensen and Natalie portman where good casts, as well as McGreygor as Obiwan.

It was rubbish, and I mean rubbish. It was nothing but a special effects film that satisfied the starwars fans who wondered how this fantasy bastard child of lucas' all began. Its fucking awful, if you can see that your a hardcore fan and will accept any piece of shit as long as its about starwars.I could do a better job with dialogue and plot than george fucking lucas I would put a bet on it.Hes crap. Just a luck bastard in the right place at the right time, with what I think is a shit idea.

I have been meaning to do the OT for some time now, I will try and get round to it this week if possible.

Personally I still think Empire is the best, but Sith is in 2nd place as it is a really good story.
