  • Okay, So my question is, Whenever I go to pick up my sugar glider he crabs but when I stop he starts to go to the opening and wants me to let him out... How do I get it to where I can actually pick him up ?

  • how long does it take for a sugar glider to be comfortable with you?

  • @gamelover5 It depends on their age.. and if they had been handled already it shouldn't be much worried.. I have 2 sugar gliders for 2 weeks now, male and female(3-4months). My male got used to me already by now.. for the 1st week I just put the food inside their cage, and pet them while they're eating.. the 2nd week I put them in my hands and shoulder, the male got comfortable with me, but my female still bites.. I got so many scars in my hand.. lol :P PATIENCE is really a must.. :>

  • I just bought a glider he's a male 16 weeks(or so said the shady man at the pet shop =\) and whenever I try to handle him he never "crabs" instead he only strikes and bites. He keeps making me bleed. Any tips, or suggestions? I want to make this work but it seems to get nowhere. Also I tried to feed him mealworms(the small ones) but he has no interest. He only loves apples and pellets. HELP PLEASE! :(

  • @RayneClouds10 Hew.. How did things go with your sugar glider?

  • Can you put 2 sugar gliders in one bonding puch at a time, or is it better to have one in the ouch at a time?

  • So this hole proses works with older gliders that arnt bonded

  • Dear Dr,

How old is the Glider you are working with in this video? Was it a baby at the time you did the video?

  • I'm considering getting a sugar glider. In any of your videos, do you address whether it is a good idea to have sugar gliders and cats or dogs in the same home? My parents have a yellow lab, and I don't want to run the risk of hurting a sugar glider when I'm visiting home.

  • i cant find the the video about to how to stop biting, plz put the url in a comment for us please

  • i just got mine a week ago

and i never have had any accidents with it

its never done that screeching noise to me

and it falls asleep in my hand.

it was doing this since the first day...

is it a good breeder is there something wrong with it?

or am i just really lucky?

  • so if its my first time ever holding him, trying to get him to bond with me,and i hold him the way you did in the video, will it bite me?and if it does, should i continue? or stop?

  • hello i just watched the biting video but my glider doesn't bite when its scared it bites when you feeding him or get close to him he lunges at you like if he wants to eat you and i am sort of afraid now but i no they can sense it so i try to calm myself then go back any advice?

  • Is it a adlut? or baby? how big do they grow?

  • you keep them in your pocket all day, do they pee inside them? & those all the babies sugar glinder make such noice like that?

  • I have watched and enjoyed most all your clips ... but still no mention as to where we can get our hands on a copy of this book you mention. Come to find out I am not the only one looking for it either. please can you shed some light on this for your faithful followers.

    Phil and family

  • Guess i won't be getting one......they are illegal in California! I wanted one so bad!

  • i am looking for a suger glider for $200-$300 in kentucky do you know eny breaders in that area

  • how do i train my sugar glider to do thnng ask i ask?

  • If i'm getting a sugarglider that is 2-3 years old will they still make the crabbing noises or how long will it take for them to get accustomed to you?

  • @Socalibeast Bonding with mature gliders can take quite awhile. You will need to be patient and consistently apply the bonding techniques presented in other videos in this series. Hang in there. :-)

  • what if the sugar bites? and can you do this with any age of sugar glider?

  • @bullshark8822 there is an entire video in this series about how to stop biting. The older they are, the more consistent training it takes.

  • Do you think you could send me the video? Ive looked through your videos but i can't seem to find it. I guess i'm just over looking it lol

  • wtf?! I can't hear him properly and the intro sounds ok...

  • is the static sound , the baby glider crying?

  • yeah thats him crying

  • @vannyazn it's called "crabbing" and it's basically the glider's reaction to being startled, scared, and unfamiliar with his human companion. As the glider bonds, he won't feel that need. My Elliot crabs at me when he's trying to sleep and I make noise near his cage, almost like he's yelling "HEY be QUIET!" He never crabs unless he's under his nesting blanket and I'm bugging him :).

  • @vannyazn Yes, it's called crabbing :)

  • wow this is intimidating! Thanks!

  • If I ever get a sugar glider, which I am, I'm going to study every one of your videos! THANK YOU.
