  • @Liveleadplayer70 Those were the Days my Friend. Never did what u Guys did. Sounds great!! WE were into the Angels from "78 onwards. I was at this Gig. I was 15. My Mates and I couldn't hear for days( right up front near the AMP). Whenever they came to Maroubra or Coogee it was party time!!!

  • Another incredible angels live performance. Bordering on perfection.

  • the chorus riff reminds me off a ted nugent song. 'good friends and a bottle of wine' perhaps

  • Trying to imagine Doc singing "Hard Rain". Mmm sounds good

  • see em at the Pier hotel in frankston , Melbourne , the whole pub was jumpin , great night

  • Aussie rock dont get much better!!

  • I grew up with this band in the days of tapes in the car.. Great Band.

  • good fkn aussie band, banging out good fkn solid music.if u dont like it,your a fuckhole.

  • Follow DOC NEESON on twitter @docneeson get this comment liked so every1 can see it!! TA!!

  • I'm from America and I love this band. We knew em as Angel City for awhile. "Marseilles" got heavy airplay.

  • @TheMagmagoblin hey follow on twitter Doc Neeson @docneeson

  • Ahead of their time, if this was released today, they'd top the indie charts, guaranteed. Plus, the singer is effin' HAWT !

  • Goodness!! What vitriol chaps! This is yet another example of shit hot rock from Oz so lets not bicker and argue about who's better than who.....haven't you figured out yet that it's all purely subjective???? Good, that's settled then. Goodnight, sweet dreams

  • @AshraKellyBlue sweet dreams but after the rain :)

oh yeah your rock is?? george michael,.elton john and boy george and where do they take it???????

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • @figbat1 no, your theory has gone all around Youtube because you keep posting it because you're a cunt. Go and brew up some magic mushies and fuck off.

  • so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2338. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it...the foo fighters last 3 albums..."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)...coldplays last 2 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.

  • Why can't I find a CD of Darkroom? Ca m'eneeeeeeeerve!

  • Number 1 Oz band!

  • brothers i am impressed u gave sum shit to the critics

    after the fucking rain

  • @laiosto ha ha me die? never i been put on earth to wind you ausie poofs up! go fuck yourself.

  • @rockerbox1973 The only thing you wind up is your dick with your constant wanking.Since you live in Pomgolia you are as good as dead anyway.Enjoy the rest of your existence in the armpit of the world.

  • @laiosto oh look he spat the dummy,oh crap now the toys are thrown out the pram.i might watch some real quality tv tonight, like er summer bay, neighbours, sons and daughters, country practice, the list is endless just like your music! crap!

  • @rockerbox1973 As the great Aussie philosopher Guido Hatzis would say"Mate-ah,mate-ah,mate-ah, the pommie poof ,he get offended ".Mate your idea of what Aussies like is as warped as your taste in music.Nothing I could say or do can be any worse than the pathetic life you live in sunny old Pommie land. Bad weather, chavs, pakis ,a love of poofterball(soccer),bad food, and even worse teeth.Sucked in mate.Go sell your arse and get enough money to try in and live Australia,if you can.

  • @laiosto ha ha nice one mate! believe it or not i have always had a great respect for you Aussies.never afraid to speak your mind and stuff everyone else.i still do mate! its a shame our lot dont speak there mind in this country.thats why we are in a state and we are bloody stuck with it.if i were younger i would emigrate to your place cause this place has had it.god bless yer mate and god bless Australia, keep it the way it is though! take it easy.

  • @rockerbox1973 Theres only 1 thing the poms can play better than the aussies & thats God save the queen, so fuk up as I still havent forgottern Fromelles, ya human waisting pack of shit

  • @sapper320 what a fuckin wanker! you cant even spell you aussie degenerate fuck off and die somewhere do us all a big favour, tosser!

  • @rockerbox1973 and you're a fucking idiot

  • @nzoz1978 and your a fuckin wanker but i aint shoutin`..............

  • @rockerbox1973

We have a saying in Oz for gay little mummies boys: " Take a tablespoon of concrete and harden the fuck up"

  • @DarePhotography1 we have a saying over here for ozy wankers like you, your a fuckin arsehole!

  • @rockerbox1973 Now, I've just had a quick look at your channel and you're either Andy Mackay, or Andy Mackay's bum boy. The other stuff doesn't do much for your cred here either. Most of the stuff you listen to is Eurovision song contest crap or Elevator music. What you need to do is take a pill, put your head back up your arse and stop annoying people here like some sad cunt in his basement.

  • @gupsnot well well a windup wanker.thick ozzy cunt

  • @rockerbox1973 NO O or Z in Australia You DUMB CUNT its AUS. We wipe the floor with Cunts like You

  • @OutlawMCC you couldnt wipe your own arse! fuck off!

  • @rockerbox1973 What a complete Fucking TOOL

  • @rockerbox1973

Ya know Pussbox, Doc, the lead singer of this band is 61 years old now. I saw him perform last year.

I guarantee if you were stupid enough to slag him off to his face ( not that you'd ever have the balls to although you might posess few enough brains) he'd rip your sorry ugly little head off and shit down your neck before the Guitar solo was half way through.

  • @rockerbox1973 --Hahaha IF YOU WATCH TV SHOWS KAREOKE CRAP, GUESS WHAT YOU ARE? You can't hear the music and it's not cause of your ears. Now go read a book and flunk a test numbnuts.

  • @rockerbox1973 Fuck mate!! i just checked out your site. What the fuck would you know about what bands stink and are second rate?

  • @flamethroa sorry mate i was having a wank and couldnt hear you, what was the question?

  • Saw them in the late 80's, 89 I think at the Perth entertainment centre. We were all rocking so hard the wooden floor nearly collapsed. Talk about bringing the house down.

  • one of the best great aussie bands gotta love doc:}

  • I do believe it was 1978 when I saw The Angels. I think one of my most memorable experiences was a gig they did at The Flicks at Manly. Some rotter let off a smoke bomb in the crowd. It was hard to breathe, but there was no way anyone was going to move from their vantage points!! The queue in the Ladies Room was RIDICULOUS. I remember giving up on needing to do a wee that night!! lol THANKS SO MUCH TO nzoz1978 once again 4 this posting this GREAT clip!!!

  • I had always loved Ray Davies and the Kinks. On hearing of his treatment of Doc and the boys all I can say is What an absolute ARSEHOLE !!!!

  • Seen The Angels live 65 times. only band that comes close is AC/DC

  • gods of aussie rock, I have seen them so many times live. They are so fucking good. Doc Neeson for PM

  • saw them live at summernats this year doc still sounds great! :)

  • at the start it sounded like , unlock the door light the fire

  • saw em support ac- dc .....how about that huh !!!

  • I also saw them in 1980 Vancouver when they opened for the Kinks. Actually the only reason i bought the tickets were to see Angel City who in my opinion blew the Kinks off the stage with a song set that made the Kinks look like an old washed up band. Was sad that Ray Davies was such a prick and so insecure. 30 years later i still love all their music.

  • play Angel City at night, and the next day will be good.

  • Loved them in the early 80's - Angel City back then. Hadn't heard about the kinks debacle.

  • these guys fuckin' blow away the Kinks

  • seen the angels at shopping town hotel this band can rock hope the come back again

  • Now that is REAL club scene

  • As much as I like The Angels, I also like their back up band in Australia called Black Label {not black label society). They absolutely rock with old school metal.

  • I just saw Doc and the boys at the Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercar concert on the Saturday night. Doc and the boys went OFF!!!!! Doc was loving every minute of it. They played maybe 10 or so songs and everyone was a hit. The place went off!!!!

  • shit thought i was 18 again there for a minute

  • the original rock dancer

  • when only the best will do and this is it.......my friend

  • FUCK ME, IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER. 20 YEARS LATER IT IS STILL BRILLIANT

  • @iloveknitting1 try 32

  • I am one of the ingnorant bastards who thought they would just succeed wherever they went................politics an R and R, I left Aus and the scene, and the Angels greatest Aussie band ever.............IMO were tossed like an LA salad! BAD.

  • OMG........I listen to this & all those years ago come rushing back! I saw The Angels so many times along with all the legendary Aussie bands of the time. Does anyone remember the open air concerts held in city of sydney parks(i think they were in hyde park or the domain)? I remember the Moove sponsored concerts.....

  • @goldenwheatie Mate them concerts in the 70s were usualy held by Double J now triple J and 2sm radio put them on a lot also, Parramatta park was a site for many of them ,on the river 30 bands from the hepnotics to the Angels joints wrapped in butcher paper and passed through the crowd all weekend, they were good days and i was 15 at the time and other than a couple of bikers slapping the odd fool there was never any fights it was all peace and partying,,not like today,,,Pete

  • This picture quality is superb. Second to none, especially for being so "old". Late Seventies would have be right up there with the best years of my life for going to see Live Bands ... So much live music, so many Sydney venues, so little time! Loved reading Gig Guide! Hmmm 1980 was pretty cool with seeing The Ramones LIVE 3 times in one week, but these guys (The Angels) always Hit The Spot! Love all their stuff. Thanks again, so much, for bringing this to the small screen. Regards, AnnieDelico1

  • LOVE (can't think of a Bigger or Better word than that) this old ANGELS footage. Went to see them in their Hey-Day. Never saw a mediocre gig. Doc Neeson's a Living Legend. He sure was the perfect singer - born for the stage. Took a couple of pics of him at Victoria Park when he had just arrived with a long blonde haired female off-sider. He gave me a complimentary grin. Aaaahh for the old days hey? Life seemed simpler back then. Thanks so much nzoz1978 ... more than that if words could depict!

  • "somebody save me the water's rising" Love this band but did that fucktard Al Gore write the lyrics?

  • I also saw them in 1980. In Chicago at the Uptown Theater. The Kinks were OK,

but Angle City was new and exciting.

Then that paranoid idiot Ray Davies ruined their chance to make it big in the US.

    Shame.

  • @billnear oh yes, he most certainly did fuck it up for The Angels (Angel City)... Doc Neeson (singer) spoke about that incident on TV recently and from watching him telling his story, you could sense that it still hurts him... old wounds..

  • @nzoz1978 so whats the story regarding the epsiode?

  • @cbmdg8551976

Angel City (Angels) were opening for the Kinks during their 1980 tour. Ray Davies saw that the band were winning his band's audience, and in doing so, told the band to tone down their act. The next night Davies created a barrier with gaffer tape on the stage and instructed The Angels not go beyond the lines - basically giving the band limited space to perform... Doc didn't get an further, but made mention that he had a meeting with Ray Davies after the concert... oh well!

  • @billnear what did Ray do plz enlighten me im a big fan but im only 18 still confused as to weather they made it in Australia let a lone US

  • @billnear i also saw them in chicago and it was a kickass fucking concert they put on a show i wont forget and it is too bad they never hit it big. i think they could have made it but like you said davies fucked it up for them

  • great band seen them last year live at doncaster hotel still no how to rock hope they tour this year again doc is great

  • Aussie rock rules!

  • saw em open 4 the kinks in 80, fuck yeah, i love this band!!!!!!

  • @sargentD808 and Ray Davies booted them off the tour, due to concern that they would upstage him.

  • @nzoz1978 Too right,mate!

  • My Favourite band!!

  • this song has got it all folks

  • @selmep Well Said ! ! ! :-)

  • yeah i'm totally bias, but aussie rock is still the best. saw these guys live many times way back when........nzoz...you're a legend.

  • @dieseldog66 thank you !!!

  • Australia has develped some of the best bands ever..ac/dc, rose tattoo, heaven, Angels (Angel city). I hope to make it down there someday....before kick off. Thanks for the tunes.

  • Yeah, but what do the lyrics mean?

  • Great !

  • Still great after all these years. Those were the days!

  • I saw The Angels Saturday night in Adlaide backed by the Adelaide Arts Orchestra. i was not sure what to expect but was blown away.

  • i agree totally

  • I feel privileged to even know about them.

What a ROCKING band. Such energy - such cool, raw sound. The 70's and 80's produced some amazing bands and The Angels were one of my favourites. They will live forever in my memory and thanks to you guys on You Tube I can watch them "live". Thanks!

  • Boy this version is quick.

  • @wha65 This is the best version! Love the Angels slow or fast

  • christoph - Yeah it's always good.

Check out " The Angels-After The Rain " live at studio 22. I absolutely love the power of this beauty. It's easily my favourite. It reminds me of seeing the boys at their greatest performance at Narara.

  • Reminds me of my time in Whyalla, where there are more pubs than churches. Saw The Angels, The Radiators, Jimmy Barnes, and the father of Oz rock Billy Thorpe all played (oh chuck in Rodney Rude too. ;)) plus a few internationals in my short stint there. Great times, great party town.

  • Hey gypsybloomers=I got this song for my 21st-19.10.1978,so mate it is definitely '70's

  • They will always be the Angels in Australia at least!

  • I felt into all these great bands like Angel City, Rose Tattoo, Acdc, Split enz thanks to a trip in 78... I still listen to them after all this time. just regret their music have not hit us in Europe (except for Acdc... and Tina Arena!) and would probably never see them in live.

fortunately, ytube and daylmotion come to us to make them live again and again and again.... greetings all from the other side of Earth!

  • Doc and crew did this as their encore last Friday night (brisbane dec 09) and after the gig my mate asked me who is better - Angels or AC/DC - my vote is with the Angels. My mate and I last saw The Angels back in about 1981 when we were just out of school and to this day I have loved this band. Closest OS band to Angels might be Status Quo, also good, but Angels should have blitzed them internationally. BTW $40 to see the Angels up close, and $120 to see Accadacca in Feb - where's the value?.

  • sweet jezus....remember Doc Neeson at Moorefield Girls Hgh 1980's...school dances ...Tuesday nights..

  • bull its not 1978 man this was owe school anthom 1986 song was 80's not 70's fool

  • I lived through this era ... yes 1978 & have the original LP to prove it.

  • @gypsybloomers@

Released from Face To Face album 1978 not 1980. The American version is cut editing.

  • I picked up the Angel City album Face To Face back in 1980.And I was blown away with the quality of the songs. I always wondered why they never were that popular here.(los angeles)Great band.

  • @madmex66@

The Angels have released Australian Face To Face album on international market. You need listen to that album, it will blow you away.

  • Saw them tonite after 30 years and they are and were hot ! what a band and how good after 30 years are they still. Do yourself a favour and see a band that at least sounds as good as they did 30 years ago.

  • Don`t know. I think very rich and powerful people in America run the industry and they run it for their own benefit and just seem to sign up their friends and/or relatives bands. It`s seems like it`s not what you know in the music industry, it`s who you know. And it`s extremely hard for an Aussie band to break through due to so many American and English bands getting all the attention. Of course there are some exceptions though, AC/DC, INXS. Air Supply, Men at Work, Little River Band.

  • These guys should have been as big as AC/DC but what happened was, back then, the big records companies in America were more interested in signing bands who wore make up and high heels boots, you know, that whole L.A glam rock scene which has since died out. The Angels, to this day, continue on. If only someone in the music industry back then saw the determination and potential the angels had/have then the angels would have broken world wide. Only the fans knew the angels potential back then.

  • All too true. Is it fair to say that the wrong people run the circus?

  • @ManFromMelbourne could they hav gone for the fact doc acts like a nut case on stage

  • @ManFromMelbourne AC/DC Wore make-up and High heels???....lol

I am from the west coast of Canada and We LOVED Angel City as they were known here...Still have some vinyl......They went as fast as they came....2 maybe 3 albums....and gone. We heard all kinds of rumours, such as Doc having died or having throat cancer......Still one of my favourites and would LOVE to see them live......Cheers

  • @ManFromMelbourne Exactly..and totally agree.

  • keep up the good work guys without this i would have nothing to listen to

  • I remember these guys as angel city.

  • In Australia they are called 'The Angels'

'Angel City' & 'The Angels From Angel City' were their international names.

  • Hey thanks for the info, I ha know idea, Great group.

  • I remember meeting them in Winnipeg at Mothers Records on Portage Ave. I skipped school to go there, I wish I had a ticket to the concert that night. This was around 1978-1980, I was only 12 or 13!

I just love singing Doc Neeson!

  • Sorry vinylman4533,

Meant to give u the Thumbs up but hit the wrong button. iIlso have the vinyl of Face to Face. Cheers

    Time flies doesn't it!!

  • took my ffiancee (and later )wife to the Eureka hotel in Geelong to celebrate her to 21st birthday in 1977 to see them; still togethere after 32 years, so thank you Doc

  • saw these blokes over at the deni ute muster..... BLOODY FANTASTIC!

  • over in the good ol' USofA at the moment and it is so good to hear these Aussie songs, makes me home sick but also fuckin' proud as hell to be an Aussie. NZOZ you are a bloody legend, well done son!!

  • Thanx mate... glad to keep Aussie pride alive!

  • Thanks for posting this. I haven't listened to the Angels for ages. Hearing this makes me wonder what's happened to the passion and raw sound that bands like the Angels produce? Am I just cynical or do we just seem to get plastic imitations now?

  • I LUV THE ANGELS

  • You got an extra room in your house? I need to fly in from Las Vegas to see them , i sure as shit wont find them in the states.

  • I still have my copy of Face to Face from back in '78. Doesn't seem like 30 years ago!!

  • I saw them 2 years ago when Doc wasn't with them and they were awesome!!! I am looking forward to seeing them this July with Doc, it's going to be huge!!!

  • quelle energie!!!! ça me donne une peche d'enfer! le rock australien est sans nul doute celui que je prefere.

  • I love the ANGels

  • I seen them Thebarton Theatre , Adelaide. Best show I have ever seen in all my life. That placed rocked so hard that night I am amazed its still standing. 25 years ago I got my first car $100 and the owner left a tape in it, Angels Greatest Hits. That tape never left the tape deck. best $100 I ever spent, car was defected 3 days after I got it and was wrecked for $100.

  • Man the ANGELS use to rock Blacktown RSL

  • I saw them in the early 80's there. The power went out during the show, except for the PA system. Doc grabbed the microphone and said " this club is not big enough for our band. "

Gee they were good days for OZ music.

  • Fucken oath the ANGELS used to rock the Blacktown RSL!!

  • ANGELS o ya give to me

  • The Angels, Or Angel City? As they were called in the US late 70's Early 80's. Whatever you called them. Doc, The Brewster Brothers and the rest of the Band were and STILL are one of the Two best shows I ever saw. Non stop Rock.. Great Memory~~~~~~

  • At the time they were much better than ac/dc.

However i was 10 at the time.

  • GOD's of OZ

  • classic yo

  • fuck YEAH!!

  • I had this on face to face, vinal LP,when I was a kid. I played it so many times I wore the track out !!!! Still my favorite song.

  • @timythedog ya me to in canada. wasted on acid freaky stuff and luvd it

  • Reminds me ... I saw a stripper from Oz back in the mid 80's that danced to "After the Rain". She promptly followed with "Red Red Wine" (UB40 version) and doused herself with "red wine" in a seductive dance.

She was from Australia and was billed as such in Swank magazine back in the day.

  • Is the S silent?

  • Mate you absolutly rock...........

Thanx so much for the time and effort you have obviously put into this.

Long live classic OZ PUB ROCK....

  • Top.

  • Haven't heard this tune the last 30 years. Moved on to jazz in the mean time. Love it. Still remember the games between Bondi United and Shane Horan. Haven't been back to OZ ever since.

  • I`d like to see this whole gig. The sound quality`s brilliant.

  • I've got it about 5 songs/clips only but excellent for the old collection, although live at La Trobe DVD is worth picking up at JB Hi Fi if you don't alreay have.

  • best song and aussiest band eva i rekon

  • Always loved em.... sorta like Bob Dylan singing with AC/DC!

  • Yeah, I hear that, except without the amazing lyrics of Dylan of course.

  • They are Aussies best band. God Doc can rock. I miss those concerts!

  • That would have been an awesome sight!

You sure it was Cheap Trick? (sorry to maybe doubt you botany!)

  • Yes I am sure and if you google it you may find that this has not been the only duet they have done together.

  • Bring back the BOMBAY ROCK!!!!

  • nar fuk the rock BRING BACK THE PATCH!!

  • These guys were one of my favs back in the day shite like that. Good tunes, good times!

  • I saw the Angels support ACDC on the very first night the Back in Black Album was played live anywhere - not a bad gig, eh?...

  • Sounds like fucking paradise to me.

  • These guy's were awesome in concert

  • Watch Doc start to pump up at 30 seconds mark....spot on dude!!!

  • the crown at victor good memories and mamories a blast from the past and thank you, no thank you

  • I have never left the 70s/80s

  • And why would ya!;)

  • Gawd I am in LALA land..totally rememba this band bac in teen land!!!

  • Angel City deserved more recognition and fame than what they actually got. They were AWESOME!!

  • After 30 years, this music still kicks ass. Thanks for the post.

  • i remember when i could see great bands like angels, radiaters, inxs for 10 dollars. these days you have to pay heaps and the bands are shit. I could watch angels at the pub and get pissed

  • Gold

  • OZZIE ROCK ! Cruising in a GT FORD XY along the northern beaches with my mates in the back in the 70's & 80's......that was the day . Oh I miss that shit !! Aussie chicks , aussie cars and aussie music ........... where is it now ???? European chicks, Jap cars and US music ...what a heap of crap !!!!

    adrianpeterjohn (2 weeks ago)
