  • There are no black holes, just brown stars waiting to go nova. Einsteins mass limit is the neutron star.

  • I FELL ALSLEEP

  • This is real helpful, thanks. :)

  • what is the smallest a star could be? 0.5 solar mass???

  • About 0.1 Solar Mass

  • I came across this vid in hopes of helping me study for a tezt that is coming up, it was very helpful, thankyou for that first of all. But I was wondering if its not too much to ask to make a vid or explanation on how neutron/electron degeneracy pressure works. If not its ok :)

  • hahaha hopefully your still awake.

this type of science is the only one that interests me. i hate chemistry but astrology is quite something. for some reason when i think about space it makes me think that the things that humans do are pointless.

  • You mean Astronomy. ;-)

  • right. thats what i said... in my head XD

  • If light is affected by gravity then how can light be used as a reference to a stars size? Well it looks like it is small and it is a very dense star with gravity 1.4 times that of our sun. Wouldn't the light be affected to where the star only looked smaller?

  • An object of 1.4 solar masses will bend light indeed, especially if it is on the order of the dimaeter of the Earth. The estimate of 1.4 solar masses for the limit of a white dwarf does not come from observations... rather it is a prediction based on electron degeneracy.

  • Half of what you said was jargon to me but I still found it very interesting. I love science.

    Thanks

  • You are welcome...it is fascinating stuff...and the story is getting better all the timse with better data and insights!

  • just rip the video off youtube's database.

  • hi can you please e-mail this video.

  • aint no such shit as big bang theory. it not proven just a theory and its making ppl believe that shit

  • By saying it's just a theory shows you have no concept of how the scientific method works. For a hypothesis to become a theory is more than just merely stating it. The big bang is an extremely complex theory and takes time to truly understand the aspects of it. I guess saying "poof" we have the universe does sound easier to grap.

  • God is incredible. I've heard it said that He is the "greatest mathmatician". In the beginning, God created the big bang!

  • that was great ... where is part II

    please please

  • Great video, thanks for posting. As for astrology, yeah it's untrue, but we shouldn't knock its contribution. There's some actual useful astronomical knowledge in it. The pseudosciences keep/kept people interested. We wouldn't have chemistry if not for alchemy. Anyway, I need to peruse more of your stuff.

  • Hi,

You make a point that Astrology or Alchemy is a way to get people into science... I agree it could steer some people into these scientific areas. I like to distinguish astrology as a belief system.. it's rules don't change..independent of evidence..in fact the star charts used by Astrologers are way out of date.

    Cheers.

  • Fascinating. Thanks for making these videos.

  • GREAT VIDEO.

Hope Astrologers learn something and not live in superstition.

  • Thank You JetBaller.

Astrologers are in it for the money... I doubt most astrologers know anything about this sort of subject.

Myabe they could form a new form of Astrology called deep space astrology.

  • great video just like the rest of them

  • Thank You.. This subject appears to attract a lot of attention. Maybe I should do some more in this area!

  • Thank YOu for the compliment. I shall keep them coming. I do this for people like you.. who want to learn something.

  • Cool video, wish there was more stuff like this on You Tube and less rubish.

  • nice video. really cool, helped me alot with my studies

  • Hello Ash90M

Thank you for your interest in the videos. John

  • yeah, Hawking and Kaku talk about electron degeneracy, but don't go into any mathematical detail. If you could be so kind point me in that direction, I would be thankful.

  • Hello Mikeysan8.. I will send you some links. it is an interesting/ important effect..and to hard to explain in a comment. John

  • Hello Dubaipete -- I will send you some information/ links on this in a day or so. John

  • Thanks Dr John. Can you please explain electron degeneracy or send me a link? I have heard of 'Pauli pressure' caused by saturation of quantum states, but have never heard of electron degeneracy. Anyway, keep it up please. Youtube needs more of this stuff, and less narcistic twaddle.
