  • this new local businessess buzzz going on in internet marketing is bs people will say anything to get you to buy their products i have subscribed to multiple "gurus" newsletters and they all promoting the same products i think the only way to make money in affiliate marketing is off of other "affiliate marketers" by creating products

  • @dagr8rylz yup definitely right...

  • Ian, you hit the nail RIGHT on the head. My wife and I invested over 4 years and at least $30k into integrating local business with the online world. And this was in Baltimore, MD (very poor choice in location, lol).

Very similar to your experience with Jersey mom & pops. It was a mix of both ignorance and aversion to marketing as a whole.

We are now OUT of that market as consultants & marketers. Too many local shops don't even have money issues, it's more of an Ideology issue.

  • @unworld Our original goal was to bring forth "economic empowerment" to local & community businesses. The key problem we ran into was just a deep reluctance to step outside the box.

Flyers at the local BBQ, sure. Posters at clubs/venues/churches, fine. But the minute you begin talking about Split-Testing, PPC, Media Buys (even on a radio/tv level was pulling teeth).. it all starts going downhill.

As a marketer, it becomes too grinding to have to convince clients of their OWN online benefits

  • @unworld yea i think I might phase out of it soon... I can t deal with clients
