  • I love this song and I really like you sharing your knowledge with us rookies. Do you do this for Jeremy Riddle's Sweetly Broken or Santus Real's Lead Me or My Savior My God by Aaron Shust? All my favorites songs. I want to learn to play all these, so I can play them at my church. I'll have to find someone else to sing them. lol.

  • Thnx for all the good tips!

  • Love it!!!!

  • @brianwhalband what kind of Martin are you playing? I play a D-28 and yours sounds a little different. Great videos btw! God bless

  • @sreagan6604 Mine's a D-35. I'd think they'd sound about the same. As far as I understand they use the same wood, but the D-35 probably has a bit different bracing with the 3-piece back. Maybe part of the sound diff is the microphone on the camera.

  • What string are we putting our index finger on?

  • @MirandaGoldapp Depends on the chord :)

  • hey im a beginner and i cant see how to finger that em

  • @PUDDin431 First you need to know where the frets are. If you want when I started playing I put the fret numbers on the neck of the guitar. The easiest way to learn songs is by tablature(also know as tabs). The way to use tabs is on the beginning right it will have the string letters(If the string letter aren't eBGDAE that means its in a different tunning) then on the line of the string if you look to the left it will have numbers. The numbers represent the frets to pluck. Message me for tab sit

  • Awesome!! This really helped!!

  • @brianwahlband is this the key that Crowder does it in? sorry, total beginner haha. just wondering because that's what i always sing it in at church, so that's what i'm most comfortable with.

  • I love this video Thank you.. I couldn't get the riff down I don't think my fingers are in the right place so it sounds a little off. -_-

  • Thanks mate I was looking to learn to play this song since I statrted messing around the guitar.... you explain it well. This is actually my all time favourite worship song in my church. Peace :)

    BIG THUMBS UP :D

  • Im kind of like brand new to guitar e.e and i want this to be the first thing i learn but... mine just dosent sound like yours D: i have mine in the stranded tuning. but it dosent sound like yours at all :( any tips of what im doing wrong? because im a TOTAL noob when it comes to guitars :(

  • for the rift part.. does the 1st finger hit any strings when you play g and em part??

  • im sorry but you are wrong. this song was made popular by john Macmillan and also Kim walker and Jesus culture. David Crowder only reduced the meaning of this song by changing those beautiful lyrics. He cheapened it. i strongly advise anyone wanting to hear this song listen to the Jesus culture version or John Macmillan's original.

  • @delerious186 Technically David Crowder gave it most exposure because of their popularity(radio), and it's still a beautiful song when they play it, I just don't care for David Crowder's voice that much

  • OH MAN! what a tongue twister at 1:50 haha awesome tutorial! God bless youl!

  • can you please tell me the pattern! lol you speak to fast.

  • Thank you so much!! I've been playing drums for 10 years and never thought i would be able to play guitar. But after 2 months of just general chord practice i can now play this song. Which is probably my favoirte song ever written, it really allows me to connect with God on a deeper level. Your amazing, and i appreciate all that you do. Finally someone on youtube that shares the abilities that God has given them so we can better worship the Father.

  • thank you so much for your tutorials! I love your teaching methods, your so calm and at ease. What a gift you have and thank you for sharing with us who seek to learn all we can with what God gave us. God Bless you and all who are reading this. He does LOVE US!! :-)

  • awesome job bro- very thorough tutorial!

  • What was that strumming pattern, i'm a beginner and I wasnt quite able to catch it. Great Lesson :)

  • didnt anyone happen to catch that strum pattern, it's a little fast for me to catch--newb warning

  • didnt anyone happen to catch that strum pattern, it's a little fast for me to catch--newb warning

  • love the video expained very well thanks man

  • @ITCyoy543 Thanks!

  • @brianwahlband I rather enjoyed your Tutorial. I currently play it in the key of E. However I have been riffing with your intro and bridge. I truly love it. I thought I might add an easier way to accomplish it though. Since the bass note is only strummed 1/4 or once per four strums, tucking your pointer finger on the E string seems uncomfortable. Id recommend using your middle finger. you don't hear the loss of the "G" bass and it also flows a bit better into the Em7th. Praise God for His work.

  • i just cant learn by tabs this is really helpful cheers m8y, god bless.

  • Best ever GOD BLESS U MAN UR AWESOME I'm trying to play this for my church and thanks to u its really easy, Thanks man and take care!

David was in our church last week and he performed this song. See their videos under name.

I'm following your tutorial now! :) Thanks so much again.

  • thanks for the help brother!!!! God bless;)

  • Awesome lesson man. It took me only like 5 min to do the little riff part over the chords and it sounds so good I love it. Nice Martin, I play one too. Keep up the good work Brother.

  • thanks for the video, how do you play this song without a capo?

  • thank you this helps so much :D

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I always struggle to find the simple, basic lead guitar part.

    Blessings!

  • Great tutorial. Sometimes it is so hard to find just the simple, easy lead guitar part. Thanks!

  • Just for informative reasons:

John Mark McMillan plays in C. The chord progression used is; C, Am, G, F.

The little riff, mentioned at 2:39, as I have found it to be, played by James Duke (lead guitar); is C, B, E, C, B, E, G (repeat twice during one progression).

David Crowder took this semi lead part and made it more into augmented chords for a single guitarist.

This version is great too, a lot depends on how you sing and what key you sing in.

Props for a nicely done video.

  • wow, its so simple. and i love that song
