coming of winter, fall of the year might be referencing the life of a person. i am looking at the coming of winter. it is the fall of my life. from that perspective this song makes a lot of sense. moving in silent desperation. say who is this walking man ? not me ! not yet. now you know the frost is on the pumpkin. we don't own the road. the walking man seems to be both revered and dreaded here. in james taylor we have an honest accounting of being human.

This is simple. To put this in perspective, James is in the "Fall" and ruminating about the upcoming "Winter".

Samsticka must be in a warm weather State. Seasons do pass. Fall is not the end of the year...double duh!!
