I wasn't a very good daughter either when my parents were alive - but today many years after their death I am making up for it, I made my amends and have matured my relationship now ( better later than never )and have ultimately let them rest in peace and set them free. I wish you success to do the same because guilt is only good if we're willing to look at our part and then let go. You'll be able to also - just keep an open heart and an opened mind......

This song is written from the perspective of one who has passed to her loved one about to, to let the dying loved one know she is waiting. Try it in a mother/son context. He is clinging to life (holding on to the last good day, holding on to the last sweet light). She is waiting for him to let go (is this the part where you let go?). When he does (as your hands breaking free) she is holding him, and then he will be there for her too.

The mother will again hold her son as he once held her.

Their tanks were made with U.S. steel. They weren't superior tanks, but they could throw seemingly infinite numbers of them into a battle. Without U.S. aid that just wouldn't have happened.

They simply didn't have any military cohesiveness when the most needed it. The harsh winter and their scorched policy helped, but without outside aid they were doomed. The U.S. supplied the Soviets with thousands of tons of war materiel. In fact, we were the biggest supplier of weaponry to them. If the U.S. sat out the war the Russians AND the Brits would be speaking German right now. The Soviets would have crumbled just like Czarist Russia did in WWI.

About three months ago we were watching an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" about the death of George's dad. This song came to mind as he passed away. I always thought it should have been a part of the background music on "Grey's" but I guess Liberty Mutual had exclusive rights.
