This is one of those classic that shouldn't be covered by just anyone because it is easy to f#@$ up. However this duo of Maysa Leak and Johnathan Butler have exceeded my expectations (not sure why I ever doubted them) and certainly receives my seal of approval. This is one of the best covers I've heard to date of this Q. Jones classic. If you haven't heard it check out Ledisi's cover at the Q Jones 75th birthday celebration. It's live and she kills it. I first heard the Quincy Jones version featuring Minnie Ripperton in 1974 and I was blown away. I couldn't ever imagine anyone singing it better than Minnie R. Tonight I heard this version with Maysa and Johnathan Butler and I was blown again. Maysa has done it again with an excellent cover of another artist's classic. Maysa's voice is sultry, seductive and it's filled with passion. Her beautiful voice coupled with Johnathan B's velvet smooth licks on the guitar make for a perfect combination.
