God spoke to me, and she said that she is not now, nor has she ever been employed by the judge of probate at the courthouse and that she had absolutely nothing to do with any kind of marriage being legal. God spoke to me, and she said that she is not now, nor has she ever been employed by the judge of probate at the courthouse and that she had absolutely nothing to do with any kind of marriage being legal. She said that wedding ceremonies were cultural affairs to bring families together and really the contract was done at the courthouse. She also indicated to me that for any couple, regardless of gender or combination, committment and sincerety were the most important factors. I believe her.

To all you people who say God never intended homosexual couples, I wish to inform you that, in my opinion, I see religion as something that was created by mankind to explain the unexplainable. However, even if you don't agree, you have to admit that mankind could have easily changed the bible over the years to match their personal beliefs. For all we know, something we do in our everyday lives (using electronics, speaking, walking upright) could be a sin. It's like a game of telephone.

Let those who want to cast a vote against gays having the equal right to getting married give up their own right to marry, i.e. have their marriages voided.
Only if a person's hate is strong enough to cut off their proverbial nose to spite their selfish faces, should their opposition to equality be recognized.

Nobody here should hate the Catholic church for this. The church is based on tradition and scripture, and based on that, the purpose of marriage is to have children, to simply continue the human race. That is why the church is against gay marriage. It is demeaning to the true meaning of marriage. But in the light of this human rights thing, I don't know what to think.

Although it is not their own fault to cast prejudice on gays, the media and the society has reponsiblities for this.

As I told Laurise68 I will tell you. I respect and understand that according to your faith Marrige is between a male and female. However I must ask you to remember that not all fiaths think that being gay is Sinful and that denying gay couples the rights of marrige is wrong. My fiath is one of those that do not think that being gay is wrong. One religon can not and should not be allowd to dictate the meaning of marrige. Not as long as the federal Gov. uses the word. the US isn't solely one religion or another. This country is based on freedom and equal rights. Marriage should be a right of 2 consenting adults who are serious about making a commitment to one another. That is what marriage is all about.
Sin isn't universal. No everyone believes the way you do. Hate and bigotry is a sin. It isn't moral.

God does not hate gays any more then he hates anyone. He hates the sin but not the sinner. I am a Christian and was raised to believe the homosexuality is wrong. I also know that you are born gay and would God create someone to be born to have no choice but to sin? I am confused. I still believe it is wrong just dont understand a lot about it. Keep marriage between a man and a woman and allow civil unions with the same benefits as marriage. Leave it at that.

Sorry but the whole separate but equal thing does not work. I ask, are you basing your defenition of marrige off your religous views? If so please remember that not all faiths think that being gay is wrong, and that gay men and women should be allowd to marry. The goverment cant use one religons definition of marrige. It is not simple at all. You creat a double standered with what you are perposing. Words are very importent. Either what we have now is changed into Civil union licenses for everyone and let marriage stay withen the religous relm or we exstend marriage rights to Gay couples. As I stated befor one religon can not dictate what the word Marriage means. It imposes that fiath on others who may have a different view. And in the US they are considered as legit as your own faith.
