This is definitely drum and bass, hold on hardcore, hold on, hold old jungle, hold on it's...hahaha you're going to do your own heads in trying to categorise your music collections trust me!
1994 is when the rave scene was changing, the scene was splitting up and this tune definately did go down the roots of jungle and drum n bass. I would not call this a typical hardcore tune. This would probably be one of the first examples of the music we call drum n bass today, as nearly everything before this would have been called darkstep hardcore or jungle. But the names are loose definitions people should call it what they want...I call it drum n bass/jungle don't care who says otherwise
I won't rise to your comment but know that in the heydays of Drum & Bass, pigeon holes were clearly defined even then by magazines of the time, Musik, DJ Magazine etc.

Look up Wikipedia 'Drum & Bass' & while you're at it...teach yourself some manners :)
My words can't do this justice..But I remember buying this on vinyl in 93 & cherishing it..& still a privileged twelve in my collection of D&B from the 90's.
Pure D&B heaven!! This is what then moved me to the Ambient genre eventually. thank you DJ Crystl :)))
@runtinsweet You've got a real bee in your bonnet about this genre thing, haven't you? People argue about how to pigeon hole these early tunes all the time, but they miss the point - that Jungle and DnB and Hardcore are basically the same thing.
@realnurave So hardcore in 92 is basically DnB in 2011 LMAO, you're full of shit and haven't got a clue. Probably a middle class student that never been to a jungle rave in 94!
@runtinsweet I'm laughing my ass off at you, you were 1 years old in 94 according to your profile. I'm neither middle class or a student, but I was out buying records and listening to tapes while you were in nappies with no knowledge of your ass from you elbow. Yeah, check my other comment on the other tune and you'll realise that DJ Trace really did use the term 'Drum and Bass' in 1992 to describe what is variably called Hardcore / Jungle Tekno / Breakbeat Techno / Breakbeat Hardcore.
i have requested sweet dreamz to be played at my funeral (touch wood) from the moment i first heard this track"
Saw this on Discogs tonight, so I had to check this tune out. I have to say, it's a pretty deep DnB tune. Gotta love the old school stuff, nothing beats the vibe of the 90's. It's just something magical about times of old.
one of my favorites!!

@runtinsweet Yet, had it been released just two years later, it would have been called Drum and Bass, and it doesn't really matter anyway.
