  • How stupid can ppl be, esp those working in the media to have made such criticisms of your analysis rob. The wilfull misunderstanding and misrepresentation of what you are doing is staggering and infuriating. dickheads.

  • Thank you so much for the time and dedication you've invested analyzing this film :) Stanley Kubrick and I daresay Anthony Burgess roll fondly over in their graves.

    Sincerly yours -

    An admiring devotchka.

  • You are very insightful and intelligent in your viewpoints. I appreciate Kubrick's material and indeed A Clockwork Orange

  • Looking at Kubricks career and his movies and his last movie Eyes Wide Shut, and his death 4 days after meeting with warner bros. hmmm. no there is no conspriracy theory whatsoever.

  • i disagree with what you sai jusy then in yyour videeo

  • Ager= Awesome

  • shit you should analyse finding nemo that will take you 10 years

  • Funny how even such a graphic and controversial film like A Clockwork Orange ends up leaked into family programming. Mythbusters. I was amazed to hear to references to this movie, directly and indirectly. this direct one was first in the pirate eye patch myth where Kari is under a bright light and she says she feels like shes in A Clockwork Orange.

The second is in the using 20% of your brain when Tori was under an MRI and groans I fell like Im in a Kubrick movie! Strange? I think not

  • OK I like your video you have good points ,but to say "Kubrick" Believed" these notions is elementary I'm surprised you would go that far . I think that is why you are getting negative feedback because you are not supplying evidence that he purposely did these things or believed them. That is what your whole story is predicated on and you are missing that point. I think intelligent audiences are insulted by this

  • I dont understand why so many people hate his reviews? I disagree with Rob Ager on almost every political issue but hey the guy is a genious when it comes to symbology, empirical theory and analytical thinking. Its amazing how so many people want one guy who reviews films and review conspiracy theories removed because they hate his politics or his various conclusions.

  • @killerbee2k Perhaps thats why the people want Rob Ager off of YouTube

  • @seth5220 yeah it just shows that most people are just scared little ideological sycophants who cant handle a real debate that does not consist of 10 socialists in a circle agreeing with each other

  • I very much enjoy your review of these thought-provoking Kubrick classics.

  • is this mike myres

  • Don't know why some people are complaining about your accent. I'm usually especially "sensitive" to them, and I can understand you perfectly. (?) In fact you have a pretty nice voice in general.

  • keep up the ghood work Rob, if only all film critics had your vision although it obviously takes a few viewings of Kubricks work to unravel the secrets..

    great stuff, greatwork.

  • Who owns Wired magazine? Rupert Murdoch? The real wanker is Wired magazine's writers. Fuck Brownly.

  • hoi have watched a fair few of your reviews, and i can not see any agends, or missinformation as you have been accused of. i dont entirly agree with all aspects of what your informing us on, but i like your style and delivery.

    very good analysis.

to be a conspiracy nut - all it takes is to dissagree with offical statements. . but far to many people take dissinformaiton such as UFO , and dont concentrate on the real problems of the world. Peace

  • usually the people that label your reviews conspiracys sound like the type of people that are involved in them and are simply trying to protect the group by badmouthing your work. you did a spot on job of the clockwork orange and i liked the shining references in the other review. keep it up.

  • hey rob its been a while since ive checked out your vids...theyre still great!....i watched apocalypse now the other night it would be interesting to see what you could uncover about it!

  • Darth Vader @ 7:23

  • PLEASE ROB POST MORE REVIEWS ON YOUTUBE!!!

  • Rob - you must be one of THE most intelligent, erudite film reviewers I've read (and heard) anywhere in my life - both in general, and specifically as to your lucid & detailed insight into the films of Stanley Kubrick (a filmmaker I have studied in depth for the past 40 years). Most other "reviews" I've seen of SK films on YouTube - especially on "A Clockwork Orange" - are on the level of grade-school imbecile (including those done by alleged Kubrick fans). I envy your eloquence.

  • @Onneff69 Yes Rob and Kubrick's Corner are the best examples at going into the depth of Kubrick's themes. What I find so wonderful is how they've opened the door, especially Rob to search more deeply for the subtext not only in Kubrick but in films and culture in general.

  • What is shown at 6:37 ?

  • @proceedapathy its from the films they were showing alex during the Ludovico Technique.

  • DOnt worry sir you make awsome revievs and teached us what Kubrick ment by his movies and its absolutley the truth

  • I'm terrible with accents, but you almost sound like old-school scouse, then again I can't pinpoint, even when I am from Liverpool.

  • Rob, I'm a big fan and just so you know, I'll make a documentary about you after your impending stroke, death, suicide, or murder by the use of a ceramic penis.

  • Don't be too scared of 'conspiracy theories' (the link to the idea of terrorism is correct, part of a Media conspiracy to generate the very idea of CT's as a stinky bag into which to put any ideas 'they' dislike - search any major 'news' rag for the term to find their catalogue of rantings on the matter) unless of course you're gunning for a career in corp journalism, in which case, carry on bashing C**T's like the rest of em. Great reviews, by the way.

  • God, your pansy ass thinks it can review the movie?

  • The phallic ornaments are occult symbols which stem from ancient Egypt. When Seth cut Osiris into pieces and scattered his body all over Egypt, his wife Isis retrieved all of them except for one piece, his penis which was swallowed by a fish. All of Kubrick's films had Masonic influences and symbolism in them. Sun symbolism is prevalent in most of his movies for example. A clockwork orange for instance is just another name for the sun.

  • TITTIES!

haha jk, love your reviews- do eraserhead next

  • "Symbology"?

  • i freakin LOVE these analyses =D

alex and his gang are what certain people call "neds", dirty punkish uneducated dodgy bully-boys =D

  • dude, your vids are excellent! but you should really consider english adding subtitles. please don't take it the wrong way, but British accent is a little unusual for me and i bet for other viewers as well. sometimes i have to rewind once or twice to understand what you said. other than that, keep up the good work

  • i disagree about the cat woman's sexual art being decadent. the cat woman represents female sexual liberation. it not baed in the id. she is female power.alex desicrates her art. he sees her a filthy old sunker. but her art ha noting to do with the erotic in that sene

  • Rob, a question for you. In the scene where Alex is first brought to the hospital for the Ludivico Technique, we see him at the reception desk answering various questions. As he is doing so, in the backround we see a man and a woman in doctors whites, walking out side the building, they enter a doorway, go up a staircase and then disappear down the corridor. Any idea of the significance of this? Is it just to set us up for the Doctor and female doctor that seem to be in charge of the experiment?

  • where did you learn so much about film? the stuff you point out is so interesting! thanks for your insight =]

  • FIVE EASY PIECES NO I RATHER SEE APOCALPSE NOW I FORGOT To ADD THAT To MY INFAMOUS OH & ONE MORE IT WON'T BE 70s FILM WITHOUT " ANIMAL HOUSE " 8 )

  • @canecorsomob He left that out too, you are right. Apocalypse now followed by 5 east pieces, there's a DVD night in!

  • Best films were in the 70s real golden age of hollywood here's my list best films of that decade 1 clockwork orange 2 godfather 3 godfather 2 4 french connection 5 taxie driver 6 star wars 7 jaws 8 the warriors 9 car wash 10 barry lyndon
  • @canecorsomob You left out Five Easy Pieces!

  • I got the same message, but an analysis of all the fine points makes the movie clearer.

  • Viddy well brother... viddy well

  • watch the new film zombieland to see more references on the destrution of the american indian nation when they wreck the store

  • i agree 100% mate screw the editor what ever they are it was a cool video + its good to see some one close to me who loves clockwork

  • Excellent Rob, you do fantastic work, really great stuff.

  • alex sounds like hitler

  • like there's something wrong beeing "conspiracy theorist"

  • @escobari thats what i was thinking ,but we all know if they start attacking conspiracy theorists theorys then they usually are conspiracy facts

  • do you have one on eyes wide shut

  • I thought this was an amazing review! well done!

  • I love your analysis, it's always so well thoughtout and mentiones things no one has ever mentioned and makes everything make sense in ways they never did for me, I really appreciate your stuff.

  • aww man lame! Where can I get the uncensored version?

  • online now at latestrelease movies -dot-com

  • 0:19......the word you were looking for is symbolism

  • Its interesting that in that scene, there is an angle where it looks like the penis statue is actually fucking the old woman, then, by killing her with an over sized penis, it could symbolize some sort of men dominating women and treating them simply as sexual objects.

  • @peerpressure1999 Could be. She attacks him with a bust of Beethoven- is this a conflict between the classics and modernity?

  • I think that in the end, Alex isn't meant to be taken so seriously -- nor is this movie. The bottom line is, we are all human and humans are violent creatures. But in this state of society, it is "right" to hide it. Alex just doesn't.

  • id love to go for a pint with you,.much love..daniel.

  • Alls i've done! hahalololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great work, very inspiring. I love seeing the evolution of new form of entertainment, education and ideas coming to together around the hands of manipulators and controllers. The fact people attack you instead of debate really shows the success.

  • Rob Ager, the best, most badass film reviewer on YT. Thanks!

  • @AfterTheFox75 Hey, thats not right..Thats what I was gonna say..Go away..lol

  • I honestlly can't see where you are coming from with the homosexuality, especially PR Deltoid, I just think he is a rather quirky charicter. The prison Vicar Also i feel carries the same demeaner and I can't see how he could be Gay as the bible presents homosexuality as a sin

  • So grabbing another man's crotch isn't homosexual behaviour????? Okay, buddy. Whatever you say.

  • wtf? he punched him in the nuts. how possiblly can that be that gay? i think they're just quirky charicters quite honestlly and the homosexuality is a figment of your imagination

  • Well, it's a common stereotype for Catholic priests to engage in fornication with young boys.

A prominent Preacher of the Evangelical Church, Ted Haggard spoke strongly against homosexuality... And then he was sent to jail for buying Crystal Meth from a gay prostitute of whom he engaged in fornication with for 3 years.

Just because somebody is a preacher doesn't necessarily mean they practice what they preach.

  • I think you're delving too far into the one case you can pick out that involves homosexuality.

I think you'll find most vicars arn't gay, it's common sense

  • Oh, you mistook me. I should have probably cleared this up at the end of my comment like I originally intended to...

I never said all priests or anything of the like are gay, I just said it was a common stereotype, which is true, it is, undeniably, a common stereotype.

I gave Ted Haggard as an example for you, just to demonstrate that not all priests practice what they preach. Just because they're doctrine says it's a sin doesn't mean that they are incapable of committing it.

  • "I can't see how he could be Gay as the bible presents homosexuality as a sin"

Because its not like there are ever any stories of priests fiddling with choir boys are there? Hang on a sec...

  • omg are you a skouser? wow ive neva found 1 on youtbue b4 :D

  • Great review. I have rated this movie 4/5 but after thinking of the points you take up I am seriusly considering giving it the 5/5.

  • you are the man, end of. me and my gf love you.

  • Homosexual?.... You must be a "Closet Case" I've been watching this film for 30 years and Never had one inkling of Alex or any themes in the movie as Gay! Accept for the inmate making Kissy, Smaky noises at Alex during the Church service scene in Prison.P.S. no gay bashing intended. Just giving a response to a point raised in the clip.

  • Alex didn't open the door to let his droogs in because he had to go through the room the lady was in to get to the front door to let them in

  • I don't think there is any evidence to suggest Kubrick believed in any conpiracy theories whatsoever, if there is I'd like to see it. He played with imagery to elevate his films to a level above the literal from the performances to the shot composition. They are films not documentaries.

As for the homosexual element in A Clockwork Orange, this is definitely in some scenes and is not latent.

  • Does this mean that every prosecutor who charges someone with "conspiracy" to commit some sort of unlawful act (murder, robbery, fraud, etc.) is a "conspiracy theorist!"

If the mere utterance of that term is all it takes to invalidate the viewpoint in question, then why don't defense attorneys ever employ this tactic when defending their clients?

  • Rob is really off-base with some of this.

I mean that stuff about homosexuals came from left field. Not only is there no direct evidence for his claims, all of those scenes mentioned were not in the original book.

And even if there were some validity in those claims, rob never goes on to clarify what the significance is.

  • "I mean that stuff about homosexuals came from left field. Not only is there no direct evidence for his claims"

Yeah.... except all those scenes he shows. You know, the ones with the cock grabbing and innuendo?

  • The inspector or whomever did that could have been sending a stern warning to Alex get in line.

There was nothing explicitly homosexual about it.

Why was he so harsh and stern? If he was coming on to him, you would think he would have been more sensual, rahter than brutal while he was in the middle of giving him a lecture on staying out of trouble.

  • I think you're the only person refusing to acknowledge the overt homosexuality of the inspector. There is literally nothing more short of an anal rape you could add to highlight this. He makes several references to Alex's handsomeness and GRABS HIS COCK! Not all sexual encounters are sensual. They can be intimidating. He's in his nothing but his underwear and you don't see anything sexual in that scene? Nothing about that strikes you as odd?

  • Maybe he's into that stuff... But really Prisons COs have to do that to prevent the spread of possible diseases.

  • if dere rr conspericacy theories den wha rr we genna do, jst be born, fck a few girls, serve ya country, die.

  • Is there any definitive evidence that Kubrick was a conspiracy theorist? He could have just weaved in the imagery of the Illuminati in as a motif of just questioning authority in general. I think the analysis is quite well done but a lot I find to be speculated.

  • Seeing as Kubrick didn't speak about his movies and now that he's gone, never will, all we are left with is speculation. I argre with Rob that Kubrick appears to be a fairly radical anti establishmentarianist. There was an element of it in most of his films. Damn, Spartacus was about a slave revolution for god's sake!!!! Whether he called that establishment 'illuminati' is up for debate but he had a strong anti authority message in his movies.

  • your comments on the Shining were NOT conspiracy theories, the genocide of native americans is clearly a theme in the movie as well as being a historical fact. pay these gibbering xenophobes no heed they can't handle thinking outside the box for five minutes, their stubborn self-delusion is exactly what Kubrick was satirising with the character of Jack

  • Well spoken Flea

  • @fleamarket3000 i don't mean to be a xenophobe but

    whats a xenophobe?

  • I don't believe most "conspiracy theories" that I hear/read but the existence of powerful secretive societies, such as the freemasons, is undeniable. I believe Kubricks Eyes Wide Shut was partly a critique of the way they operate

  • Love your ideas, Rob - and the fact that you've offered such a civil rebuttal to your critics.

  • this guy knows what is going on with all the jews and i dont mean the ones that practice the judaism religion but the ones that are making us slave, allah akbar peace be with you all

  • think you videos are good more film reviews please

  • love it man - i've shared you on facebook several times already.

  • I think he has some interesting things to say about the movie, and at the very least this encourages people to actually THINK about what they are watching/being brainwashed with.

  • btw, what did you challenge him on? I am not interested in blocking anyone's opinions.
