  • have built a model very close to this one using the same principals and it worked perfectly.

    Thanks for the video.

  • can u buy trains with the smoke all ready fitted?? or are they all modded by the owners of the train after perchase

  • Thats a lot of smoke jeez u could clear the room with that train and thats just what i like a train with lots of smoke ora

  • use an n gauge smoke generater

  • you could have geared the motor

or yoused a battery for the smoke

  • @matanuialive2010

Actually, no I couldn't. There's no room for extra gearing and a battery wouldn't have supplied enough power to get the smoke going.

  • @Tomlan2007 i can appreciate that 2 AA batteries wouldn't be enough for the smoke but would a 9v battery do? just a thought.

  • @dkbmaestrorules It's certainly worth a try. I've not used a 9v battery it myself. If you go down that route, please tell me how you get on.

    Cheers.

  • @Tomlan2007 what smoke unit could i use for james (from thomas the tank engine

  • @Tomlan2007 hm i am gonna try that with my 0-4-0 percy can you tell me how you did it

  • @Tomlan2007 what smoke unit is it>

  • @Percyfan1991 Hi. It was a Seuthe No 100 smoke unit which you can get from Gaugemaster. I think the new No 99 will work even better. My website has details of how to fit one: tomlancaster.weebly.com/fitting-seuthe-smoke-units. I hope you manage to convert your Percy. It looks like it should work.

  • @Tomlan2007 That link doesn't work, not found!

  • @Tomlan2007 Hi. First I Tried Using Number 22 the wiring broke and now im using 27

  • oh my god that was brill tell me how did u do it

  • i ahve got the same negine shed what happends if u leave the smaoke going while its in the shed? good vid

  • @MrFlix76

Not a lot, really. It just fills the shed with smoke until the oil runs out :-)

  • Dis the oil make a nustey smell in the room

  • thats soo cool. i love it:) 5 *

  • Just wondering cause I'm thinking of fitting a Seuthe Smoke Generator, how long will it run for before you need to add more oil???

  • It's only a couple of minutes at the rate that you can see on the vid. If used at a lower speed (and therefore lower smoke unit temperature), it can last up to 5 mins.

Not ideal but good to look at while it lasts!

  • Nice layout you have there.

Does the smoke residue from that unit leave the loco oily? I have a hornby 2800 w/smoke and the locos always oily after a smoke run.

  • Hi, thanks for the comment.

No, I can't say I get any oily residue after running the smoke unit. [ I do get lots of oily locos after running the live steam tho! ;-) ]

    Are you using Seuthe distilate?

  • were did you get the loco? good smoke efact thogh :- ]

  • It's a cheap 'Hornby Railroad' 0-4-0 and I got it from .. a shop... ?!?

  • I noticed at 1:42 the points arn't put in the correct position but when the loco goes over them at 1:50 it changes them

  • Well spotted! :-)

I must be more careful in future. :-))

    Thanks for watching.

  • WOW. Thats soo cool. Theres a lot of smoke comin out the funnel and i like that a lot!

  • i like the vid ur layouts good please will you give me some tips and tricks

  • What happened to Paul (The NewTriangman) on the 4th April??

  • He passed away. He had heart trouble but died just before he was due for an operation. Very sad.

  • Such a shame.I hope the NHS didnt keep him waiting forever, like they do,unfortunately I have had too much first hand experience of the NHS and I'd hate to think they had kept him hanging on too long, like they do every single time. There seems to have a spate of fellow modellers falling of perches of late.

  • is this bachmann or hornby?

  • The title of the vid might give you a clue!

    :-))

  • What Number Seuth unit did you use? It's very good!

  • Cheers Cine Steam!

It's the Seuthe 100 unit and it's not not an oily smoke so there's no problem with any residue on scenery etc.. (And not a bad smell, either).

I can't help with DCC question but I'm sure there's a way to do it! :-)

  • That's brilliant! I might have a look! Thanks,

    CineSteam

  • Does the smoke get your scenery and everything oily?

  • That looks amazing! You could use DCC to set the smoke unit to always be on full blast while the engine is responding to the speed control knob. I wouldn't know as I don't have DCC, but could it be worth a look? It would eliminate "God's Hand"! :-)

  • looks brilliant

  • that was neat, i want to do it, my jinty dos'nt smoke that well, gr8 vid.

  • where did you get the unit from

  • Google 'Seuthe smoke unit' and take it from there. There are several suppliers.

  • thanks

  • Looks very good. Do the fumes give of much of a smell.

  • Hi trevor. No they don't give off too much of a smell. There's a definite 'aroma' but it's in no way annoying.

I like you R/C chopper vids - I want one!

  • how did u create that smoke effect ? so kewl dude~ pls tell me ~

  • Cheers mate, thanks for the comment.

Check out my website - there's a page 'Fitting Seuthe smoke units' that tells you how I did it.

  • very good looks very realistic,

  • You know, I am very impressed with your ingenuity here. Keep it up!

  • brilliant! I would love to do this but I have not much experience, but maybe I could do it when I am a bit older!

    lovely affect well done!

  • Sweet! Onyl trouble is, you look at your others and say 'They need a smoke generator too...'

  • Thanks Camborner.

I've got a spare unit but it's not possible to put one in the Bacy V1/V3. And the rest are real steam (or diesel!) :-)

    New loco arriving soon!

    Tom

  • Cool! What's it gonna be? Or would that spoil something...

  • Let's just say that I'll get back to you!

    :-)

  • And it might be the same type of loco on your avatar on the forum!

  • A 57XX! Or just any pannier. Very good taste in locos!

  • there is another way to do it...control the loco as usual, using the track controller, and rig up a 9v PP3 battery in the van behind. That way, your loco is fully controllable in the usual way. Also it may be worthwhile putting a micro sized on/off switch on the back of the van.

  • WOW! That is quite incredible tom!

  • I think that it is unique. Well done Tom!
