  • Hopefully they land it where the ancient structure are on Mars or at least where there is vegetation and water. Time to stop hiding the fact that there is life on Mars.

  • How exciting! It's wonderful to observe Mars and imagine Curiosity on its way to the Red Planet. Mars will shine brightly in February & March 2012 - let's look up together. Wishing everyone clear skies!

  • Go MSL and happy landings!

  • can't wait to know what's happening next. so interested in what's gonna happen. . keep it up!!

  • fuckinh awesome

  • Gosh, I wish I could've been a part of this. Congratulations, guys!

    And yes, @Alexfor2002, very Firefly-esque. I approve!

  • Wow this video is really amazing, I like how it shows the attachment the Engineers had to the rover and story behind it, really really good! Good Job to everyone who made this possible :)

  • The one mars year is the same as MER's "90 days", it's a warranty, I.E. The rover is designed to last *at least* that long. MER lasted WAY WAY longer (7 years). If that is any indication, MSL could last 10 years if everything goes right.

  • Dear NASA, thanks :]

  • прикольное видео! ;)

  • @DontEverGrowUp so its reactor only lasts for 1 mars year huh. That must be long gone then.

  • @captcaveman4201 It's "MMRTG" can last for 10 years, however the electrical power output drops off over that 10 years.

  • @Doom2pro and that is why they have to tilt it to the sun to get max sunlight less then 10 years from start of show..... right?

  • @captcaveman4201 Wrong. There isn't a single solar cell on MSL, like everyone is saying, MSL uses a nuclear power supply, google MMRTG. It uses radioactive decay to create heat, most of which is to heat the rover, and 400 watts to power ALL electrical needs.

  • Now only if we could convince nasa to show us what the rover actually finds...

  • The intro remindes me somehow of 'Firelfly" :)

  • ooooh she got to name the Curiosity!!! *me jelly*

  • Wow, that just brings an ENORMOUS smile to my proud-to-be-human face.

  • @2eelShmeal what are you proud about humans, that they're the most sadistic and cruel of the beasts on this rock? Oh Joy we can colonize other planets once we've wrecked this one we r so smart...

  • Aug2012 here we land , everyone cross fingers this will be tricky,

but with all the skilled pepole did work on that, I m sure we will have a smooth touchdown.

Good Luck Curiosity hope you will get a lot of new datas so we will find life there or we come back for marsinvasion soon.

  • i wish that you would give those rovers some real major horse power to tear up some martian soil if it gets its wheels stuck. Like if it gets stuck, just have like a big red button as a last resort. slap the button and have the rover peeel out. Also cant we just make a small nuke reactor for 1 soo we dont need worry bout dust on pannels?

  • @captcaveman4201 curiosity runs on a mmrtg, which is a nuclear power source. or did you ever notice solar panels on it? =)

  • @RufftaMan ummm my comment mentioned how dusty the pannels get. more dust = less energy.

  • @captcaveman4201 And RufftaMan's comment mentioned nuclear power source. In case you missed that.

  • Curiosity is much bigger than Spirit and Opportunity, so the risk that she will land on a boulder or on a crater rim is much bigger - and then she would be stuck.

  • Damn you August you are too far away! :)

  • Now I will educate all of you that use this word far too often.

This word is for special events such as this and other wondrous events.

    This truly is AWESOME

  • yay!!!!!

  • WHAT IS THE LAST MUSIC PLAYING? 4:09 PLEASE? ^^

  • @eonvee375 the music is by John Beck (aka Silasfunk)- available for free download on the "Silasfunk" facebook page. click on "band profile" and then click on the song titled "79 Degrees North".

  • @johnbeckhofmann THANK YOU SO MUCH ^^

  • At least a new video :D Thanks!

  • Awesome!

More about the Mars Science Laboratory please :))

  • Good luck Curiosity

  • Here's hoping that all 100 000 things will work as expected. Can't wait for August, to hear the good news. Cheers,

  • First
