@MattiDaimen: Ja de er veldig stille, vil anta ca 15-16 dB, men vil ikke begi meg inn på kjøle effekt, disse viftene ligger på rundt 1000 rpm så noen gigantisk kjøling gir de ikke, men som supplement og secondary vifter til kabinett og HD kjøling passer de godt.

Jeg ville nok heller anbefalt Zalman 120mm Blå LED Vifte, hvis du er ute etter litt bedre kjøling, men da på bekostning av litt høyere dBA ca 20-30.

@MattiDaimen I dette tilfellet får man det man betaler for, man må nesten veie kjøle effekt opp mot støy, prisen vil variere deretter, Zalman koster litt mere og bråker litt mere, men med en god vifte kontroller faller min anbefaling på Zalman, Når du spiller vil du ha mest mulig FPS og da må det kjøles !!! En gaming pc som er luftkjølt vil i de fleste tilfeller lage vifte lyd over hva som er frosvarlig i lengden når det gjelder lydforurensing i et opphpldsrom. headset+fancontroller=problem løst

the point is to fully utilize the power of his 4870x2 so its not a waste of money if you run in a res lower than 1680x1050 u don't need much of a card. 4870, 4870x2, 4890, gtx285, gtx295 all for 199x12 res or higher with all the eye candy on...only way to game.

At my new pc I have the following:

and an dvd writer, etc... + 320 gb hdd.

Call of duty 5, and Call of duty 4 and Unreal Tournament 3 and even Quake 4 and Crysis works great on it, with HIghest settings.

I noticed that you have the Creative labs Titanium. How was it? Does it giving you a problem? I heard the driver is really bad especially for Vista.

For once I've had no problem with this creative product, I'm not a fan of creative and their driver support, but this one so far is working as intended and have upgraded driver versions without problems, no hardware problems either, mic works just fine, even running guitar rig on this card works flawlessly.... so far, if it will work on Win7 i cannot say, just do some research if there are creative drivers out compatible for Win7

No it's not necessary to have one, but if you have no way of changing a static RPM on a fan it can get tiresome in the long run with exessive noise.

One other reason is that the airflow needed mostly depends on workload, so when your rig is idle less airflow and cooling is needed and in those cases it's nice to be able to lower fan rpm's for a quieter environment ;)

Yes, all you do with a fan-controller is adjusting the voltage to your fans and most fans only come with a red and black connector, because they didnt bother with using a third grounding cable since your case is already grounded when you plug your external power cable in your wall outlet. :)

Im not an expert in electronics but 3-pins are plus/minus and ground, so i assume if you have some with only 2 thats only +/- then dont worry if there are extra pins.

If you google theese two lines you will see exactly the type of crossover (adapter) and extension cables iv'e used in my rig maby they can give you a hint on what to use.

Google this:

"generic 3-Pin to 4-Pin Power Adapter, connecting a 3 pin connector"

and this:

"12" 3-Pin to 3-Pin Fan Power Extension Cable"

BTW this monitor is a widescreen with aspect ratio 16:9 • 14:9 (it just LOOKS small in this vid) i think its because its cropped to 4:3

Dual GPU may be an overkill with a 20" monitor, but if he decides to buy another larger monitor and run dual screens then he would be in business. The NEC runs at 1050X1680 which is fine for games and it just under the max res for HDTV, but for a PC monitor it rocks with HD. If NEC would come out with a 30" with the same design I would definitely buy one.

Just so you know the 20" NEC 20WGX2 is one of the best monitor I've ever owned. 20" widescreen is maybe not the biggest, but inch for inch there is not another monitor that can beat it. It has every connection you need for a PC monitor, I use mine now for a second monitor and it's main duty is to play HDTV which it does amazing, and if I need more desk space than my 30" can offer, all I need to do is hit the remote, yes a remote. Just thought you should know.

You can buy almost any kind of crossover cables, in my case the "built in" fans of the Antec 1200 case uses those old white or black 4-pins power connectors, so i just used a extension cable with a crossover from 3-pins to 4-pins, just remember to order the correct type depending on what you need, like he/she - his/hers or whatever the term is in english lol

notice you have a NEC 20WGX2 monitor, I had purchase one a couple of years ago and think it's one of the best monitors I've ever owned. I use it as a second monitor, normally as a HDTV now that I have a 30" main monitor.

Yep it's one of the drawback's with air-cooled cases, but hey you only have to run them at full RPM's when you are doing heavy load stuff like gaming etc... and real gamers use headphones and dont care about that stuff ;p

Besides when you are doing regular surfing, listening to music and all that low-duty stuff you dont have to run them on full RPM's, still most fans are quite capable of keeping your mosfets, cpu's and MB's withing adequate temperatures without (dB) pollution.

Man I hate loud fans! Still to loud though. I bought a CM690 case (installed five fans; drove me crazy). Two months later, returned it to the store and only got $5 taken away for restocking fee. Bought Silverstone TJ02 for $50 brand new. Has only two fans and cools as well as my CM 690 case. Extremely quiet now!
